What Insiders Are Saying
Alimento was one of Silver Lake’s first destination restaurants, and now it’s one of the best restaurants in the city.
Alimento is consistently excellent. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is neighborhood cozy. The noise level inside is high so I always try to get a table on the patio which is great.
Delicious! Pate, Octopus, Crudo, Lamb. Outside is quieter.
Excellent food and service
Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very attentive
I love this restaurant. The food is delicious and consistently good. The staff is great. Overall a wonderful experience for any occasion.
My wife and I brought her parents to Alimento for her mom's birthday. The restaurant was easy to find (nice big glowing A) with a cheap and convenient valet outside. The atmosphere was intimate but energetic. We ordered the meatballs, grilled bread, and four pasta dishes - which was just enough for the four of us! The wine selection was unique and very well-crafted to pair with the food. The servers were friendly and checked in often - but were not rushy in any way. My only complaint is that it was incredibly loud in there (some absorption would be nice), even for LA standards. All in all, I really loved this restaurant and would be back again. I would recommend the pastas and most certainly the wine list.
Our dinner for two was nice, the staff was nice, and the food and drinks were very good. $125 good? No.
Excellent, as usual. The only drawback is the noise level inside, VERY loud.
The food is good and tasty but too much lemon and the portions are small the appetizers are fantastic specially Caesar salad
15 minute wait even with reservation, then were seated at a table that had been open that whole time. Wine by the glass that we ordered was a bit off, found sharp pieces of something white in our pasta. The food wasn't terrible, but it wasn't wonderful, either — certainly not good enough to justify the noise and cramped seating at these prices.
This is the best food in Los Angeles. I’ve eaten at Bestia and as good as that is, this is better.
Unbelievable. The best Italian cuisine I’ve experiences in Los Angeles.
Loved our food at Alimento! The service was great! Particularly loved the chopped salad my boyfriend said it was the best salad he’s ever had! Delicious oxtail and crab too!
The broccoli, burrata toast, radicchio Cesar and, Gnoc were all great dishes. Octopus was only Ok and my friend did not love his crab spaghetti. Pacing of food was too slow. They tell you all dishes should be shared but this isn’t a tapas restaurant or true family style so this seems like a cop out by the kitchen so they don’t have to time delivery of dishes. My friend is pescatarian and told the waitress that he did not eat meat but at one point one meat pasta dish came out alone and he had to sit there and watch me eat with nothing for him to eat. Not a smart way for the kitchen to run. Sharing dishes should not mean waiting 15 minutes or more after finishing a dish before the next dish comes out either. This happened between small plates and pastas. I want to go back for the food but not sure with the poor service of the kitchen. Restaurant was only 3/4 full also so the kitchen was not overwhelmed.
Amazing food and preparation. Alimento puts a lot of care into their service and it shows.
We had an early dinner outside on patio. It was a lovely neighborhood city village vibe. We started with wine. The Italian wines offered were fabulous. We started with salads, radicchio Caesar was my favorite. We had the tortellini and clam fusilli pasta that were both flavorful and fresh. I think the tortellini was my favorite. I will definitely be back!
As many others here have said, the space is incredibly noisy. I didn't think it could be that bad, but it was. So much so that the joy was pretty much taken out of conversating. All the food was delicious, but the portions were extremely small. Wine pours also rather unsatisfying. We definitely left hungry. Not worth the cost.
Food is inventive and intriguing, if not always perfectly on point. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful. Noise level at peak dinner hour requires shouting at your mates to be heard. But overall, a good time with good food was had.
Place was great!! And awesome service. I came back specifically for a dish I had tried before and couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Great food and service !
Outstanding dishes. Very nice service. Very nice wine list. If restaurant is full inside, it is very noisy, which I did not care for; however, the great dishes made up for that. I would go back for the wonderful dishes, but not the noisy dining room where I had to shout at my daughter sitting across the table.
The food is incredibly good-- and the dishes are unique in that you don;'t find them in other restaurants. I suggest you go early if you don't like a lot of noise
Corkage charge of $25 is high considering the winelist is not that extensive.
Somewhat pretentious atmosphere
Been there many many
Inside very difficult to have conversation with the high noise level
Cute place with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu offers a variety of sized plates to help with sharing plates. We ordered way too much food, but it was tasty. Good sized portions.
Food was delicious. I just wish they had more than one vegetable dish.
It was way too hot to relax and enjoy the meal, especially when being charged for water. The air conditioner was broken; the restaurant was cramped. The tortellini was good but nothing else stood out.
Good food but pricey . Forced to pay $1.50 per person for tap water. Per the waitress - a very snappy and anxious one- the restaurant donates half of it for the preservation of the reservoir. Heck! I am not a resident of the neighborhood and my last water bill was $1000.00.
Food has to be ordered all at once, rather than a couple of plates at a time and progressively see what else you feel like having or not. Shareables aren NOT ordered all at once.
At the end, when the check arrives, there is a space for kitchen tip. Are you kidding? Overall, not worth it, not planning to go back, service not friendly at all.
Food: get the ricotto dumpling and ANY of the pastas! So delicious.
Ambiance: I personally loved the setting. Great lighting and it was nice but comfortable.
So happy we finally got to enjoy a meal here. Thank you, Alimento!
Very noisy. The pasta was extremely salty and it’s flavors could not be distinguished. Cool trap
Great food to share just a bit noisy
We were looking forward to coming here but left pretty disappointed. I will say the tortellini was amazing and I would come back just for that... but probably just as a to go order. The environment was nice. We sat outside, which was perfect. Inside was pretty loud, so I'd definitely suggest the patio. Service was also very good. Our server was helpful and attentive, the runners were also very nice. Other than the tortellini, I don't know that I would recommend anything else that we had (octopus, chili pork ribs, sprouting broccoli, agnolotti pasta). The octopus felt like a must-have, but it was pretty bland. The ribs were good, but they just seemed out of place for the rest of the menu (kind of a very elevated chicken wing but a crispy rib). The broccoli was very good, but that's not something I would say you have to get.
It might've just been what we ordered and I would normally give a place another shot, but I also feel like I was kind of swindled. The wine pours were incredibly skimpy. You get charged for a water donation, which they don't tell you until you see the bill. If you ask for more water, that's a second donation. And there's a second tip line for the kitchen staff. They do accompany the bill with a card that does say that's optional, but it's off putting to see. I'm sure plenty of people don't read the card.
That said, the tortellini was probably one of my favorite pasta dishes i've ever had.
very interesting menu and creative cuisine. the small plates were delicious. the space is very attractive and ambience was very lively, although the acoustics were a bit loud for me.
Alimento has become one of our favorite restaurants for a great meal at prices that are NOT splurge. We always get the Orata which is the best fist dish in the city. The pastas are very good and the radicchio caesar. Not a great wine list especially by the glass. Shout out to Heather.
The plates were small but pricey. They charged $3 for a "water donation." They had two lines for a tip: one for servers and one for the kitchen, which felt like they were trying to manipulate us into leaving a larger tip.
What a nice place to eat! Not pretentious but definitely a cool vibe. I see older generation mixed with some young hip people. Went there for my birthday dinner and every dish was wonderful. Great and friendly service. Very attentive and polite. I don’t know why I waited so long to go. Will def go back again.
Dope spot. I'm super glad they allow you to tip the kitchen staff. Pretty awesome that the guys making the amazing food can get a beer after work with the couple extra dollars you throw 'em. Into it
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Our waitperson was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and explained portion sizes of their small plates vs platters well. It was great to sit out on the patio and enjoy dinner with a great bottle of wine and watch the cool folks of Silver Lake pass by.
Good experience as always
One of the best and most memorable meals I’ve had in LA. In perhaps forever!!
