   I very much enjoyed the food we ordered for brunch (baked eggs and toast, and french toast), service and simple restaurant decor. It was very busy, so it took about 45-60 minutes to get the food we ordered. But staff was very pleasant, and attentive nonetheless. They did not have mimosas, which I love for brunch, so we ordered two glasses of prosecco, and one glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice; combined the two, and perfecto! Oh, and their hot chocolate was delicious.

   Was excited to try Marla after a visit to Monet exhibit nearby and a friend's recommendation. Arrived 10 minutes early for a 12:45 reservation - it was busy and we were told we could purchase coffee and baked goods and wait outside below the back patio, which we did - it was quiet and pretty. The hostess came out several times to apologize about the wait, and meanwhile seated another party who had arrived after us, asking if they wanted indoor or outdoor seating - they chose outdoor. At 1:05 the hostess escorted us to "our" table - a tiny table placed in the hall between the patio and dining room, close to the restroom. Our waitress ignored us for a while, I asked several times for coffee refills and menus and she actually rolled her eyes when we asked for some menu explanations ("the whey gravy is regular gravy with whey"). Ordered the quiche, and 10 minutes later was told they just sold out. - did I want a green salad instead? Really? We moved outside (cute patio, but lots of flies) and had bagels - the cream cheese was good, the boiled egg and beet sides were not. We did like the coffee cake and cookies we purchase earlier, as well as the coffee. 90 minutes later we left - wouldn't return except for a snack to go.

   Love Marla's. Good food & good staff! Delicious coffee! (they could use some sound tiles on the ceiling {It's always loud, it's just the nature of the space.} but other than that it is one of my favorite places!)

   For a bakery, Marla's provides a limited but excellent lunch menu. Ingredients are fresh and organic and everything is homemade and delicious. Ambience is simple, airy, clean and casual and the staff is attentive--but not overly so--and clearly dedicated to the cafe and its owners. They are all very genuine. The outer Richmond is a sleepy but increasingly gently bustling commercial area so it's fun to approach Marla's from a block or 2 away. The area, including the restaurant, retains a very neighborhood feel. Plus, I walked away having eaten one---- and then bought to carry out a second--- yummy yummy Marla sticky bun----best ever!

   I do not recommend Marla Bakery. They are incredibly disorganized and slow. They make you wait 30 minutes past your reservation time and blame it on Opentable's reservation algorithm, when in fact I saw a table of 4 people had been done eating (food in boxes and check paid) had been sitting at a table chatting and not leaving the whole time. Seems Marla doesn't care about turning tables and serving potential new customers. Food was okay, but not worth the price and wait.

   I had a great dinner here with friends a few weeks ago. But man was time this off. My husband, who loved the roast chicken last time, had the brined chicken. He stopped eating quickly--which never happens--and said he didn't like it and it tasted uncooked. When we brought it home for the dogs I found it raw, actuallly raw, by the bone. Very few veggie options for my guest without the prior Brussels sprouts and soup without meat. Really disappointing. And smoke coming in the open door from someone standing outside. i won't be back although I loved it the first time.

    Really wondering why this restaurant had not crossed my path previously. What a wonderful place - super food, exceptionally good and friendly service, chill ambiance and 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesday evenings! Highly recommend :)

    What a great little neighborhood bakery. We wanted somewhere convenient to the outer Richmond/Lands End beach walks for a casual but tasty Sunday brunch. This place was awesome. We really loved the food, the atmosphere and the service. We took two loaves home, they were so good.

    Neighborhood gem. Fantastic contemporary American dishes from their custom wood-fired oven, often including a variety of delicious flatbread pizzas (some vegetarian), although for me the dinner highlight might be their inventive and mouth-watering salads. Good informal ambiance, friendly and attentive staff, nice owners. A great wine selection, with half-price bottles on Wednesdays. We usually go for mid-week dinner, but breakfast and weekend brunch are also excellent and popular. They also sell sandwiches at weekday lunchtimes and a range of bread and pastries fresh from their oven, all of which match the same high quality as the food. Very reasonably priced for fine-dining - expect dinner for two with drinks to be around $100.

    We came for a Romantic prefix VDay dinner. We loved the wine paring and the food and in general, we loved everything. Wait staff were great. Presentation of each course was gorgeous. Wish the lights had been a little lower, and that there had been a little more time to linger between each course. The price seemed a little high, but then again... we loved everything so maybe not.     I needed a loaf of MARLA's delicious sourdough bread. So, why not also have a quick Saturday lunch. Ah, and staff remembered how popular their holiday orange chocolate boule (small round loaf) is for me and mine. They thoughtfully let me know they had made up one last round...then added it to my shopping. Lovely! Then, back out into the rain and Saturday errands for me, totally revived!

    Enjoyed a delicious meal with out of town friends, who were impressed with our neighborhood gem. Service was terrific, even though we were late for our reservation (but we did call). So pleased, we came back again the next evening to try the soup that our meal partners had so enjoyed.

    Fantastic as always. They brought a salad that we didn't order just because they had an extra they said. The carrot soup and grilled cheese dinner combo was great. The pork chops were amazing - best pork I've ever had over many years of fine dining. Warm service with unpretentious but very tasty food. My favorite place in San Francisco, including those with Michelin stars.

    We were truly disappointed with dinner at Marla Bakery. I had the wolf burger and it was burnt patty super salty and the bread was an english muffin soaked in oil or butter, who knows...the burger had one single green lettuce leaf that looked that it was outside the fridge for a day or so. The potato chips were also slightly burnt. My husband had the trout and it was very small for a $26+ dinner dish and it was tasteless. I will not go back for dinner.

    The food was great and I would have liked to give a higher review, but they ran out of 3 out of their 4 dishes before 8.30pm. Given there's only 1 fish dish and no vegetarian one, this is definitely not ideal for a restaurant.

    It is so so so delicious every time! The sticky bun is worth having, and every brunch option is fresh and unique. I would eat brunch here every weekend, despite a smaller menu it always hits the spot.

    Creative twists on menu, great service and at the end of the evening they sent each of us home with a loaf of bread. The pork belly with farro, roasted apples and collard greens was a hit!Great parking too!!
