Good food and service but the band on a Saturday night was ridiculously loud.
Thank goodness it wasn't playing when we arrived so we had time for some conversation. When the band started up, we had to shout at each other. This is not good dinner music.
My wife’s order was wrong, and had to be remade, the place was noisy and food was just ok nothing special. Even the dinner special which was large mussels in a dipping sauce was poor. Lacking in much sauce and one of the mussels the shell didn’t even open and was still served. I was taught that shell fish that don’t open you don’t eat. Our server was great but overall experience was less than what we hoped for.
Totally enjoyed it! Six of us - everyone loved it.
Great spot for brunch or date night with someone special. Live music is also a nice addition. They keep a schedule up to a month in advance if there's a certain group you want to see.
Made a reservation for brunch. Server was rude. One meal came out black it was so burned. Everyone was finished eating by the time the replacement came out. Two people in our party ordered bottomless drinks - service was so slow they only received one despite asking multiple times. When I asked to speak with the manager we had to wait forever was told service was bad because they had a private event going on. Don’t waste your time or money
The live music was great but it was very very loud. Great bar atmosphere - not great for food
One of the best restaurants in Birmingham!
We had a great meal and Eddie, our server was one of the best. He made the entire experience wonderful.
We had a fabulous Saturday night out with our friends. Our server Eddie is a master at his art. He made sure everyone had what they wanted and his suggestions were very helpful! My salmon was out of this world. The entire staff were so warm and kind, which made us feel very comfortable. We will definitely go back..
Thank you Vinotecca!
The food was very good and I liked the atmosphere. There was a mix up with our orders and it seems the person bringing out the food was new as she didn’t know who’s steak order was who’s. Therefore 2 people in our party received the wrong order. Mine was medium and they gave me medium rare. We ate it as we didn’t want a hassle with waiting etc. so... sloppy service but the Manager made it right.
Great food and great music. A bit of a foodie's haven with a small but very good menu.
Great food and live jazz. A bit loud to have a conversation in the bar area, but overall very nice. Will return.
Found hair in my food, busboy touched the food with his hands without gloves.
The food is good, space is very loud even on the patio. Real problem is the service, our waitress was friendly and efficient but support staff not up to par for the $$.
Our server was great! Not too over bearing, just attentive enough, and incredibly friendly. Our mimosas never ran out. We are a table full of former servers, so we know what it takes to be on top of it, and he had it! And it's not often you get a hug and a thank you from your server at the end of your meal. We appreciated him as much as he appreciated us ❤ we will be back!
The food was excellent but took forever to come out despite the restaurant not being very busy. The service was fine st first but the server was not very attentive after we ordered our food. The restaurant also got very hot and humid inside towards the end of the night.
The Sunday night we visited they were out of several of the entries by 6:30. Our dinner service was excruciatingly long. Arrived for a 6:30 reservation and left at 9:30. We repeatedly asked to have our order checked on but it was still unacceptably slow. Even after telling our server we needed to go it was 20 minutes before we got the check. We even spoke to the "manager" on duty and she was not able to get things going at all. Also, the bus/service station on the patio is right near the tables and the servers were throwing dishes and flatware in all night long and it was nothing short of jarring. Our server was really pleasant but it appeared they were miserable understaffed both on the floor and in the kitchen. Not fair to the employees at all.
Service ad Vintecca was attentive without being disruptive. The outdoor area was well decorated, quiet (little street noise), and comfortable. The food was very good, the wine selection excellent, and the ambience romantic. The sommelier was extraordinary.
Great wine and cocktail list. Food was good. Service was BAD. Dinner took 3 hours. Fortunately we were on the patio and it was a nice night out. This is the 2nd time we’ve been and had service issues. If you’re going, plan for plenty of time...
Unfortunately horrible experience from food to service! They did try and make up by giving large discount off bill and free desserts. Pizza was great but all other food mediocre. Not sure what problem is/was because it’s a cool place
I will say server and manager tried to make it right but was one of those nights when all went wrong
May give 2nd chance hoing it was just an off night
Outstanding service and the owner was on the floor all night answering questions about their incredible wine list. Great outdoor patio and comfortable dining rooms. It’s our “go to” in Birmingham.
The service from the wait staff was excellent. Very attentive and they worked as a team. The owner John was extremely knowledgeable about wines from around the world. He recommended the perfect wine to match each food course. He also put together a wonderful cheese and olive plate to accompany the food and wine. His outgoing personality and warm welcome will make this my top “go to” place whenever I am in town.
Nice atmosphere. Friendly service, but EXTREMELY slow. Couldn't believe how long it took to get a brunch order fulfilled when the restaurant was nowhere close to full. Very tasty food! Variety of brunch choices. They made a mistake on my bill. Customer focused and fixed it without incident, but again it was EXTREMELY slow.
Remake of the Bird and Bread. Food was decent but waiter Eddie was a little to chatty for my likings. I was also kind of turned off by the switcheroo of wines on menu compared to what was brought out. I ordered a Napa Chardonnay and I was brought a French wine and was told it was thee same thing.
Great food, staff & experience.
Excellent new place. Live music makes it unique in Birmingham.
My son and I dined here on July 20 for the first time. We were impressed with the creativity of the menu. We had a great waiter, unfortunately he didn’t give us his name. Everything we ordered was perfect. It’s hard to impress my son as he lives in Sydney, AU, but this restaurant did. Looking forward to going back with friends.
Phenomenal food! Wonderful patio, and spectacular wine list. You must try the baked Brie with the most delicious brandied cherries I’ve ever tasted. Lovely place - will be back!
Nice ambiance that is somwhat spoiled by extremely loud live music. The owners should understand that it's no fun to eat somewhere if you have to yell at person next to you just to be heard. The food is very good, but the wine we ordered off the list was not available. Their fancy e-wine list is no match to an old fashioned book-type wine list. Will come back if they dial down the noise, as I live in the area.
Our waiter, Edward was excellent! Food was wonderful. Edward even made a custom drink for my husband.
Another awesome meal. Was entertaining a friend with a refined palate and by the end of the night had vinotecca one of his newest places to eat. Will keep coming back again and again
Very good foods and service
It was our first time at the new restaurant. We waited for 15 to 20 minutes and no one came to take our drink order so we walked out. Terrible service :(
I tried this place based upon opentable’s recommended places to try. I am so glad I did. I am not one to truly rave about an establishment but I will with this one. The hostess was very warm and inviting plus she helped me find the place and stayed on the phone until I found the doors. (With the construction going on around the area things are a little jumbled). Our server Eddie was on point with every aspect of the service industry. He was friendly, interactive, jovial, honest, attentive and knew when was the best time to check in and when not to. As far as the food, it was worth the trip. The charcuterie was perfectly arranged. I like that you can pick what is on it and they pair the mustard and jam to the meat and cheese you select. I love that their menu is interactive and you can visually see what your dinner will look like. For the main course we went with Eddie’s recommendation of the Kona filet and it was perfect. It will be dangerous for my pocket book but I think I found one of my new favorite weekly hangouts. For dessert we did the lava cake and it was a great twist on the classic and wasn’t overly rich like how most places make it. We sat on the patio and I loved the intimate feeling it had and I know it helped that old woodward was under construction which helped aid in the intimacy. Overall I was extremely satisfied with every aspect of the restaurant and will definitely be coming back often.
The patio view is "scenic" with Woodward completely torn up and yet, this presented a serene and almost private environment for a Saturday night meal. Service was attentive. Food was delicious. It's not a bad hike in. Park in the closest area. We parked beyond the construction barrier because the street was fine and others were parked there. So glad we went. Duck dumplings, spicy salad and short ribs. Short ribs were fork tender. Whipped potatoes were a delight.
First time visit. Food and service were good. Some items take extra time and we were apprised of that when we ordered. It was not busy on a Wednesday night, maybe because of construction on Woodward. We were offered a free dessert wine tasting which was fun. Menu is interesting and has options for all food types from vegan to steak. Will go back again.
It was a great dining experience! Katherine was our waitress & was amazing ! Thank you
Was not able to stay due to a unforeseen circumstance, but our waiter was very welcoming and enthusiastic. My 4 stars is more reflective of our waiter and the restaurant’s ambiance.
Edward, our waiter was outstanding and went out of his way to provide excellent service. He also made us laugh and he laughed with us. It was a fabulous dining experience with friends.
Awesome service and great food!
