I adore this restaurant!! Consistently great food, inventive drinks, friendly impeccable staff. Decor and ambiance are perfection. But over the weekend, they told me they are closing in a week! So sad!! I can only assume with all the street construction and other places on this block shuttering that they fell away from top-of-mind for people. I hope they relocate. In the meantime - they told me I can seek out the Taj Mahal Spritz at Balthazar. Thanks for the memories Cherche Midi! xx

We all loved our Sunday brunch at this restaurant but unfortunately, found out it will be closing for good in a week. We were so sorry to hear that. We understand they will not be relocating. The building is being torn down on the Bowery. Too bad! Loved the neigborhood. The atmosphere was very French Bistro.

This has been a favorite of ours for several years. But, our last time there was a letdown, as the prices have gone up, and one of the dishes (risotto) was disappointing.

For reasons no one would explain they did not have their full menu. No one called to let us know, nor did they tell us when we checked in with the hostess . In fact the waitress didn't even say anything until I asked why they weren't serving their signature dish , the prime rib. All of this would have been fine if the food they served was edible. It wasn't.

They are closing in June, so don't bother. They posted a sign at the door saying they had a kichen malfunction: most of the staff hadn't shown up! They offered a limited menu, which was ok, we were too lazy to find someplace else and it was raining.

We were there for brunch before leaving the city. It is a bit high priced for breakfast but the food was very tasty. I ordered a bloody Mary. The drink was very spicy: definitely not a mix but a bit more than I wanted at brunch. I guess I could have asked for something to cut the spice but I didn't. The food was fabulous and the staff attentive. I plan to go back for lunch or dinner whenever I might be in the city.

Nice interior decor, good location. The drink menu is pretty decent as is the wine list. Menu was just okay, expected a little more French cuisine and maybe a special or two. But overall food was good, service was good.

A charming setting, it looks like a classic Parisian bistro. We were a group of 5 and everyone enjoyed it. Standouts included beet salad, mussels, pommes frittes. Good for a couple or a larger group.

Service was awkward and not good. Waiter seemed very rushed and impatient at the start and couldn’t be found when the rush was over. Won’t go back with so many other options where food is good and service is so much nicer. Sorry to say it. Perfect example of service making or breaking an experience. Felt bad for my in-laws as it was their anniversary, but we made the most of it. Food was good.

While our waiter was really nice, I would not recommend this restaurant. The dishes were not wholly clean, the tablecloth had a stain on it, and the food was not good. I was looking forward to these amazing looking pommes frites (which are still pictured on their website), but they don't make them anymore. My cut of steak didn't taste very fresh either. Not sure if perhaps the chefs who opened the place have now left, but I don't plan to go back.

I would not recommend this place. We arrived and the place was empty, yet the unfriendly hostess squeezed 5 of us at a tiny table. The place was boiling hot - their a/c was broken, but they didn't seem to care. Our server changed midway through dinner, which I find unprofessional as we were at the very beginning of dinner service. The food was fine but way overpriced. I just don't see the appeal.

One of our favorite restaurants. Excellent bistro cuisine, classically Parisian. Portions are large, the steak frites and duck entrees are especially delicious, as are the beet salad and garlic shrimp starters. Wine by the glass is pricey, but very good; the nice 20-ounce carafe of Cotes du Rhone at $24 is a bargain.

Delicious food, although some service bumps. Although they knew it was our anniversary, never acknowledged (a minor quibble). Server dropped check without asking as we were finishing dessert. We ordered an after-dinner drink and coffee, and server seemed to complain under her breath when delivering. Might have been a misunderstanding, but it sort of hurt the mood.

Overall the experience was all right, but probably won't go back. The salmon dinner was fishy, the potato puffs that came with the prime rib were just like potato chips and the selection of side vegetables is extremely limited. The service was fair, we had to ask several times to have dishes removed from the table once we were done with them.
