    It was our anniversary and we had never been to Chicago before. The place was as pretty on the inside as depicted online. Regretfully even though I marked it was our anniversary in Open Table, our server did not have any idea and to avoid things looking weird I said nothing when initially asking if I could bring my wife a piece of cake or something. Did not kill the night just unfortunate. The steak and fries were good, appetizer was as well, very pricey for quality though. I believe one is paying for ambience. It was nice, slightly disappointed but would try it again if in Chicago.

    Pls do not go here, we had reservations for 8:15pm and never got seated for dinner, we had to cram onto one table for appetizers at by 9:45pm they still did not have a table for us. It is hands down the worst experience ... open table needs to drop Celeste simply because a reservation does not stand.

    My friends and I went to try this place out after hearing decent reviews. We went on a Thursday evening during normal dinner hour. They were out of several entrees which was very disappointing sine the menu is very limited. My friend and I each ordered the salmon and another friend ordered the chicken and hummus. They were out of hummus so we simply asked for the chicken. The 2 salmon entrees were brought out and the chicken wasn't brought out for another 45, yes 45 minutes!! They kept giving us bogus excuses. When the chicken finally arrived; it literally looked as though they ordered it from some take out place. It was a horrible experience. The manager did comp the chicken, as they should. Unfortunately, it was too little too late. We will not be going back - even for drinks!

    This was our third time at Celeste. It will be our last. We tried, it failed. The first time, I returned my salmon because it was overcooked. Fifteen minutes later they came out with another overcooked salmon, and no apology. Second time was not bad but not memorable. This was our third time and I had the steak salad. The meat was stringy and tough, laying on a bed of arugalla, all swimming in what tasted like plain Apple cider vinegar and oil. My wife had to ask the waiter, who wasn't very attentive, to heat up the soup which arrived luke warm. The worst part was the owner who walked around and cornered half the patrons and talked their ears off while they sat there politely and uncomfortably, noticeably relieved when his attention was diverted to another unsuspecting patron. We ate quickly and got out before we ended up in his cross hairs. I don't like writing mean or overly critical reviews, but the food is at best mediocre and the owner is annoying.

    Very nice cocktails, the salmon was great. The portions are about medium, a little smaller than I would have hoped, but the food is very well-crafted and delicious! Ambiance by the bar was great. Very friendly staff!

    My boyfriend and I came for Restaurant Week and were slightly disappointed. The restaurant was actually suggested by my boyfriend's brother who is a pretty well-known chef in Chicago, so we had high hopes. I had been to the Disco club on the 3rd floor last winter and really enjoyed my experience, but my dining experience was sub-par. The service was pretty mediocre and the food was average. My boyfriend was disappointed his lamb chop was way over seasoned and the menu online for Restaurant Week was not accurate as to what they were serving in the restaurant (I'm mostly referring to the desserts they had listed). The only option in the restaurant was a sundae. I will say, the cocktails we ordered were great and I enjoyed the ambiance. I am not sure if these two things were enough to get me to go back.

    We had made a note that we were vegan when we made the reservation and also on the text confirmation. When arriving at the restaurant the wedge salad, with modifications, we were not able to enjoy anything else. When asking for a side of veggies, we were informed 40ish minutes later that due to a large wedding reception happening upstairs, the chef was not able to accommodate us. It was really disappointing. Space was great, the lack of help with the menu was sad.

    Celeste seems to be a great place, although I didn't know what to expect and turned out to be not quite what I was looking for. My date and I sat on the roof garden, which is nice and a great date spot if you're having early cocktails and a small bite. Think fancy couches and coffee tables. It's not for a traditional dinner. We had a cocktail and could have possibly moved to the second floor to a regular table for dinner but opted to eat elsewhere. The menu looked good, nothing extraordinary but I'm sure it's very good. So, great place, but I'd recommend requesting a table for dinner on the second floor if you're eating or just do cocktails on the roof garden. PS - This is written in January, not sure if they open the glass roof in the summer, but the restaurant doesn't open until 5pm even on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. I'm not sure why they have a glass-roofed garden if you can't enjoy it during daylight hours. A glass roof at night is just black and kind of depressing, although from other photos I see it does look like their hours must be different in summer. PPS - I scored the food 3 stars even though I didn't eat because this dumb site doesn't have an N/A option. Sorry, Celeste, if I come back again for dinner I will adjust the food rating.

    Where do I start... We arrived at Celeste and the hostess took us upstairs to be seated. There were only two occupied tables in the restaurant, yet the hostess took us into a very small area where we were secluded from any scenery or dinees. The table was wobbly and the window let in a cold draft. 15 minutes went by with no server visiting us yet, before I went and grabbed our hostess to get seated at a new table. We finally got moved to a better table and we're content for the time being. After looking around, we quickly realized that there was only one waitress working in the restaurant and seats were filling up. Our waitress was very kind and cared about us, but because she was so spread out, it took her forever to serve us. My girlfriend requested a special drink and instead she got one of their signature cocktails with the only change being from gin to vodka. We'd hoped that the food would redeem our terrible experience, but sadly...it was no better than the rest of our terrible visit to Celeste. I will never go back and never say a good thing about Celeste to anybody I know. In fact, I discourage anybody from going. How it has such a high rating is beyond me. Terrible visit, overrated food, pathetic service. Wish I could give it no stars.

    Took my mother and her new boyfriend here because the environment looked incredible. The menu was small and the food was mediocre for the price. Although the drinks were very fun and the service was great, I will not be returning for the food. Great for a few drinks though!!

    We had a very good experience. Our host was very friendly and sweet. We went for bachelorrete party of 6 gals. We had very good time. Cocktails were awesome. We would specially recommend "Bad Hair day". Though they have small menu but everything is delicious. They bought us round of drinks when our entrees were delayed. We will definitely go back again.

    We had the Fried chicken it taste like it was previously frozen and then deep-fried no flavor whatsoever. We had to give back the tuna tartare it taste like stale fish. Fries taste like stale Greece and asparagus was average. Go for the atmosphere but the food is horrible.

    I made reservations at Celeste for a friends birthday. The 4 of us had a wonderful time. The grilled octopus, nachos and pappardelle were absolute stand outs. We enjoyed trying a few of the cocktails but did find most, while creative, definitely oon the sweet side. Our first server was ok, not the friendliest but she got the job done. The second server we had was AMAZING. Friendly and bubbly. When he found out we had a birthday he brought over a delicious piece of chocolate peanut butter cake and complimentary shots! Staff also made sure we got stamps for Disco the upstairs bar. Great experience overall!

    Great spot for our Anniversary. Quiet and cozy on the rooftop couches made a rainy night amazing. Felt like we were dining in the botanic gardens with the covered roof and trees surrounding the dining room. Excellent cocktails, and delicious food. Made this the beginning of a romantic night to remember!

    A colleague and I were in Chicago on a business trip and came here to de-stress after evacuating from Hurricane Irma. We only enjoyed the cocktails, but it was completely worth it. We ordered a Southern Boy and Fake Accents, both potent and delicious. The scene on a Saturday night gets pretty intense around 10pm - the bar was packed and our server was fighting to get through the crowd to get our drinks to us; thankfully she was very slim and dexterous. Our table was in a little nook on the 2nd floor, which afforded excellent people-watching of the people in line for the roof. Overall, good drinks and great atmosphere.

    We were very happy with our overall visit and will return. The ambiance is very cool. Somehow they make "Art Deco and 1982 have a baby" aesthetically pleasing. The cocktail menu is fun and unique and the end result is delicious. The menu is also fun and unique and we were very pleased with our meals. The food was good and you got nice sized portions. Our waitress was very nice, but fizzled out on us. We weren't asked if we wanted refills of our cocktails, our plates remained on the table for an extended period of time untouched without any visit from her, and even tho' we had indicated at the beginning of the meal that we were interested in dessert, our check suddenly appeared without any inquiry if we were finished. It wasn't that busy and the other patrons weren't receiving any extra attention, either. Odd and a bit disappointing.

    The restaurant was relatively empty for 8 oclock on a Saturday evening. That was ok since I was there to catch up with a friend. Cocktails were very good, food was good. Waiter was very nice and helpful with suggestions. He was attentive, but not overly and was not trying to move us along. We had selected the location for the roof top bar and the disco. On the evening we were there - both were closed!! It would have been helpful to know that when the reservations were made and to be told that when we arrived.

    Very small menu but it would have been ok but they were out of the first three choices we made for dinner and also appetizers, literary only half of the menu was available- we would have walked out but it was pouring rain outside so we had no choice- the disco upstairs was boring in my opinion- it should be 70s music but in 40 minutes i couldn't recognize a single song or tune- most people came in and walked out in 20 minutes i wouldn't recommend this place

    Rooftop garden was small and intimate, which was perfect. However the dining did not meet expectations. Several items on the menu were limited. They say us in the bar rather than upstairs in the Deco room. Food was good, but nothing to write home about.

    I first had a reservation at 5:45 however my friend was running late the hostess was kind enough to push back the reservation twice. She also sat me before my friend arrived which usually restaurants don't do. So the hostess and beginning were great. The food and cocktails were great. I loved the french fries and my cocktail the aviation was delicious. The real issue we had was with our service. Our waitress skipped over the happy hour drinks so fast and didn't mention any food items even though it's mentioned on the menu. We got our drinks and then she took our order. And then we didn't see her again until 40 mins later. She forgot my order of the eggplant and we couldn't find her or anyone else to ask. After ten minutes of my friend waiting I told her to eat and I just ate the fries. We wanted to stay for more drinks but when she came back she asked if we wanted more drinks or the check. So we just decided to take the check. We then waited 20 mins to get our check. It just added to the frustation. It was a Wednesday evening and didn't appear busy. I think I would like to come back since oh what I did have was amazing. But im not sure I'd take a friend here for dinner again.
