This is truly a neighborhood gem. If it was more centrally located, with easier parking, it would be packed. The selection of small and large plates makes for grate sharing and having one's own. Several people loved the soup special. Excellent beer and wine choices. We will go again and again and again. Once we are back to using the "T" that will take less time than finding a parking place!

We went on the Friday of a holiday weekend. It was pretty empty. We ordered the following small plates: grilled octopus, mushroom ravioli, and gnocchi. Each plate was delicious. We also ordered draft beer and cider which we enjoyed. The service was very good. We would definitely go there again.

The Glenville Stops is an absolute gem. One of the top 10 restaurants in Boston. Located in an unassuming college neighborhood, TGS delivers innovative and diverse dishes with locally sourced fresh ingredients. Their beer and wine list has perfectly curated selections that pair perfectly with any plate you order. Also noteworthy is their vast Trappist Ale selection. Go if you haven’t, go again if you have.

This was the first time we’ve been back in since 2019, and it was AMAZING. My chicken was so spectacularly delicious that I ate the whole thing, when I’d figured I’d have to take half home. The crispy potatoes on the side were perfect, as was the grilled asparagus our server suggested when I asked for a substitute for the ratatouille. My partner enjoyed his burger, and service was spot-on. I’m so glad they’re still here and can’t wait to go back! (Also - such a great deal!)

Always great food, and they put our family in the quieter side room, which was perfect. Oysters for $1 between 5 and 6 makes it worth it to hit this place up on the early side of the evening. Excellent all they way around.

Went for dinner. Ordered the steak frites. Among the worst steak I’ve ever had. Fries were great. The rest of the food my group ordered was equally disappointing, especially for the price we paid ($200 with tip). Beer list was decent, even though there was an emphasis on niche Belgium beers. Service was slow but fine. Atmosphere was sleepy. Not sure I’ll be back.

Great local spot, food was delicious and the service was great. A little empty for a Friday night and not a great atmosphere but that could easily be as a result of covid times. I will be back and I would recommend!

Enjoyed a very pleasant date night at The Grenville Stops. Great beer and wine list but it’s the food quality that is the real star at this establishment. We enjoyed three small plates to begin with including roasted beets with goats cheese and grilled octopus which were both delicious. We followed with a half roasted chicken in a tomato and vegetable sauce and pan seared salmon. All washed down with a nice Cabernet - Merlot blend and a cup of coffee to finish. Great value at $135. Will be returning soon!

I walked in the door for a 5:30 reservation and it was 100% empty. Before I could even take a step toward my table the waitperson/host/only other person told me to leave my mask on unless I was eating or drinking. While this is normal in today's COVID world, it was her frantic and aggressive tone, with me the sole person in the place, which was off putting and unnecessary. I also had to ask how to access the menu. As for the food - the ceasar salad was delicious and reasonably priced while the octopus small plate set at $15 was overcooked and a very small portion for the price. It does not compare to many other restaurants which serve a similar charred selection. It was an overall disappointment. While I was there a group of 3 walked in and the waitperson treated them in a similar manner re the mask and menu. They sat down and then left within about 10 minutes. Who could blame them? There was nothing warm nor welcoming about being there.

Literally one of the best meals I've had in years. I have no idea how this place stays afloat given its hidden location (especially during a pandemic) but I'm glad it has. Get the duck confit gnocchi. It'll change your life

No oysters left. Volume wasn’t anticipated but it was Valentine’s Day and they were fully booked… Not sure how the volume wasn’t anticipated. I have worked in food for many years so I understand that it happens… But there weren’t many alternatives on the menu. The waitress said that they had to get rid of a lot of items due to the pandemic which left us having a hard time choosing what to eat. The layout was unusual compared to my other COVID dining experiences. The tables were spread out, five tables to a whole room. It was not intimate dinting but rather exposed. This place could be a good spot for younger people in the Allston area but not me and my boyfriend.

First time here - had heard so many great things about it, the main thing being the neighborhood feel. The menu was great; eclectic with some classic dishes. I got the curry dish with vegetarian 'meatballs' - unbelievable! A huge plus that they have oysters as well, and a variety of vegetable options. Sad that they don't have cocktails, BUT, the wine was great, too, and the ambiance and food made me forget about that huge thing that I usually look for when going on a date night. Can't wait to come back!

The usual - great meal at a great price point. Tucked away off the beaten path, this place would be packed if it were in the Back Bay or S. End. I wish I could get over to Allston more often, as I would love to support this restaurant and see it continue operating and hopefully thrive.

My first visit, hopefully not my last. I chose because of it’s proximity to an event I was attending later in the evening and because I noticed in their online menu that they served Fuller’s London Pride. That sold me! It was a quiet evening, I was greeted promptly and service at the bar was excellent. My steak frites dinner was delicious and fairly priced. In all, a wonderful meal!

This place was a real surprise - we were looking for a reservation day of for a relatively large party and somehow they had room. The food was amazing - complex flavors, very fresh and delicious. The set up is great - room, with tables spaced enough apart and not too noisy. The location is a bit off the beaten path. Overall it's a real gem - we were very pleasantly surprised.

This is a neighborhood gem. Rarely crowded but they take reservations. If you are an oyster lover, there are delicious $1 oysters from 5-7 pm. Also recommended are the steamed mussels (with extra bread for the broth), beet salad, mushroom ravioli, and baklava. The menu is broad as is the wine list. Highly recommended!
