Opened in 1982, Arturo's is one of the few remaining authentic, old-fashioned Italian Restaurants on the Upper East Side. Chef and owner Joseph Napolitano, who took over the business started by and named after his father, is proud to offer to his dedicated clientele a "no frills" dining experience. The food at Arturo's has hints of influence from the old Italian neighborhoods in New York City and traditions that are long forgotten by many of today's more trendy Italian eateries.

Arturo’s is not only a neighborhood staple, but also a very worthwhile destination. Caring owners Josephine and Joseph greet their customers by name after just a couple of visits. House-made sauces, well-mixed and well-priced cocktails, generous portions of delicious home-style Italian specialties are some of the reasons we go back time after time. Standouts are their bronzino, chicken francese, shrimp fra diavolo, and all pastas. Nothing disappoints. Highly, highly recommend. And they just joined Open Table.

Arturo’s is a cozy York Avenue Italian throwback gem that those from outside the neighborhood have started to take notice of, and for very good reason. First, you get a warm welcome from owners Joseph and Josephine, a rarity these days. Then generous cocktails, attentive servers, Joseph’s just-right house-made red sauce, copious servings, a wide-ranging menu and nightly specials. Sauces and pasta shapes can be swapped out, and anything they serve francese-style, from branzino to chicken to veal, is the best - ever. A pasta primavera dish isn’t on the menu but worth the ask. I dream about their eggplant rollatini. On a Monday recent visit tables were full, ranging from ‘hood regulars to young adults who started coming here as kids but now travel from Brooklyn to introduce Arturo’s to their friends. There’s also some sidewalk seating, and, obviously, the restaurant is finally, finally on Open Table. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name after just a few visits, AND eat excellent food prepared with love. People, that’s Arturo’s.
