This is a “must” to put on your River North dining list. We walk up Wells regularly from work & have been excited to try it. We’ve watched many great restaurants come and go on Wells, so hoping this is a mainstay. It’s in the old Marche on Wells & Grand with an awesome new look. The name —adorable, the ambiance is boutique stunning, the food is divine and the service by David & his team was spectacular. It was loud & lively when we arrived @ 7pm, but quieted down by 8pm. For apps we had the Conchas Marisqueras- a really unique spoonful of diced seafood with mesmerizing sauce in 4 scallop shells. It’s not filling, but one of my favorite dishes. We also had an equally awesome guacamole with a yellow acevichada sauce- it was absolutely terrific, I might ask for some red pepper flakes to give it a little heat next time, but it’s an absolute must. The ceviche pescado was as great as I expected given the Peruvian influence. The carne asada taco flavors were fantastic, but we did think the carne asada meat was a tad chewy. The Cheek Birria was amazing, slow braised in an incredible array of spices w a small side of black beans w a brilliant hint of anise that made my mouth melt. Cocktails- we got 2 Jalicians - it was our favorite - we one ordered as it came on the menu w the mezcal (but since I’m not a fan of smokey mezcal, I ordered mine w regular tequila). We then tried the Be- mine tangerine & 2 hearty souls. All excellent drinks. Lastly for dessert we had the elote quemado- I like almost anything with corn on it, but I might give this a 7 or 8 out 10 (and so did the people next to us). Think of a sweet delicious piece of cornbread (or corn cake) with a cream sauce w bits of sweet corn- if I were adding to this dish, I’d add a scoop of corn ice cream to it to balance it out. We’ll definitely go back and thrilled they’re in the neighborhood. They also have a chic speak easy downstairs, where I hear the drinks will be less expensive than upstairs.

Excellent food and experience. They've been open less than a week (truthfully I don't know how I even found it, but glad I did!) The chips for the guacamole don't work (they were hard; not crispy) and they only bring you 3 chips at a time. Otherwise two-thumbs-up for everything else! Highly recommend the dessert with corn - unexpected hit with the table! It's pricy so not sure how often we'll go back, but we really enjoyed it.

Nothing special. We ordered the taste experience. The food lacked flavor and was extremely over salted. The service was TERRIBLE. We had to remind the staff to give us water. When I brought up not being wowed by the food the server made continuous passive aggressive comments. The drinks were great though.

The food was superb, service impeccable. And this was day 1! Very unique flavors, beautifully and artfully presented. We felt like we were actually in Mexico or Peru with a very authentic menu. Also, the room itself is beautifully designed.
