Ciao Bella - Baltimore
Offering up classic Italian fare in the Little Italy section of the city, Ciao Bella in Baltimore, MD is a must try destination. Operating for more than 20 years, it is family owned and operated, and emphasizes Southern Italian specialties.
The most popular items on the menu at Ciao Bella in Baltimore are the penne carbonara and the Bolognese. The chicken parmigiana is a huge hit, and the gnocchi alla vodka is a long-standing customer favorite. Of course, diners at Ciao Bella in Baltimore can enjoy traditional appetizers, large salads, seafood and meat dishes, and there is even a great kid's menu to make for the perfect family night out.
We had been here about 8 years ago for a special occasion, and when it came time to pick a place for our theatre evening with friends, I thought of Ciao Bella. I was given kudos from the other couple and my husband for my choice, as the food was absolutely delicious . Our waiter made some suggestions for our meal choices, including seafood tetrazinni, of which my husband devoured every bite. He also told me that the cannoli for dessert was the best, and he was right about that. two of us had veal dishes which we loved. The house salad dressing was creamy and like none I have ever had, and it was atop a very fresh salad. The portions were just right as we did not bring home boxes. We will definitely come back and recommend it to others. Although we arrived early, we were taken to a table right away, and we had no problem getting served quickly nor were we rushed, so that we had ample time to get to our play.
They weren't OPEN!!!!!! I was surprised, very!!!!!
Food was awesome and service was very good! Highly recommend!
Yummy! Crab toast outrageously good!
Great place to carb load before Baltimore marathon
Disappointing considering the restaurant is in the heart of Little Italy. Only 2 men working the floor (neither of which was Italian) as maitre’d, waiter, bartender, server, and bus persons. Service was slow, food was all a la carte, and the long wait for the check was ridiculous. The Sangria was only marginally good but was over a full glass of ice which made it appear to be more than it was. We also ordered vodka and cranberry- the waiter came out with a glass of vodka over ice and said they had no cranberry. The other waiter corrected him that they did, but they barely put any juice in the drink! It smell out light pink! As for the main courses, the chicken cacciatore had several pieces of chewy, tough chicken and was drowning it too much chunky tomato sauce. The lobster ravioli had a heavy dough that did not seem to be home made. The dinner did not come with any side dish despite my asking prior to ordering and being told yes. Overall, I’d say try somewhere else.
We were pleasantly impressed! From the food to the service!
Good food, really nice server. Went with 4 adults and 6 tweens. Only downside was the 2 plus hours from start to finish. Took 30 minutes to get a drink and bread.
We had an excellent dinner.
Food was tasty, service was prompt and courteous and atmosphere was enjoyable.
Food was ok. Could use some salt. Service was excellent.
Two words: crab. toast!
Excellent meal from start to finish and the service was outstanding. Q was very attentive and friendly. I will be back next time I’m in BWI.
We had a group of 8 for a business meal. Nick, the owner, made a few suggestions, and we decided on family style and tried a number of dishes: lobster pasta, spaghetti and meatballs, and Chicken Marsala. All were nice size portions and delicious. We began dinner with bruschetta and calamari, both also very good. I am looking forward to a return visit soon.
We started with the Shrimp Oreganati which was wonderful--big firm shrimp cooked perfectly in a garlic, oregano sauce. We also had the Seafood Tetrazini, which was quite good and very rich, and the Broccoli di Polio, which was not quite as good. But then again, we could have been spoiled by starting with such a great dish.
Food was delicious & atmosphere was lovely, but service was very slow. It seemed like they were understaffed. The servers were very nice but seemed like they were working hard to keep up.
Fabulous food as always. Off night for service. Great waiter, but they didn't have enough staff on the night we were there. We will go back aain!
Terrible service with average food. No manager on duty and no one in charge.
We always love the food and atmosphere here, and usually have good, friendly service. But we seemed to hit a bad night this time, and service was slow. The food, however, was delicious, and we still enjoyed our visit.
Outstand as always with a great selection of meals.
The food was tasty. The only item I do not recommend is the calamari. It was rubbery and the worst I have ever had. Everything else was good.
Food was incredible. The service was SLOW, so don’t eat here if you’re in a hurry. Overall, very good.
Fortunate to find this fabulous restaurant while on business in Baltimore. The food was excellent and staff was equal.
Amazing food. Best meal my husband and I have had in a long time. The sauce on the tortellini and lobster ravioli was "to die for"! Friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere. Great sangria. My picky daughter loved her plain chicken cutlet (they adjusted the chicken parmesan to fit her picky appetite). Groupon deal was awesome. Would give this restaurant 10 stars!!!
Wonderful experience. Food is amazing. Nice quiet and romantic spot.
Ciao Bella is our most favorite Italian restaurant out of all the ones in Little Italy. From the personal service to the expertly crafted authentic homemade meals, it cannot be beat. Tony ALWAYS acknowledges me and my family when we walk in, and thanks us on our way out. I have not encountered this level of interaction anywhere else. He has, will, and continue to be our “go-to” favorite in Baltimore! Grazie Tony from the Solomons!!
I guess it's OK if you like more pasta water than sauce... bad form on that. They also tend to push the wine that's going bad (Chianti Classsico).
My husband and I found this restaurant while we were on a trip to Baltimore from Cleveland. The food was outstanding and the servers were excellent!
We had a wonderful dinner at Ciao Bella! This was our friends’ first visit to Little Italy and we wanted to give a fun and delicious experience and that was accomplished. We will be back again.
Food and service was excellent. They only offer dinner portions and prices. So similar nearby restaurants can be half as expensive but still have quality food and service.
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Ciao Bella. Love the fact that they have gluten free pasta since my wife cannot have gluten. Food was fresh, delicious, and abundant portion. Staff was friendly and our server could not have been more cordial and engaging.
My wife and I went to Ciao Bella to celebrate being back in Charm City. It was exactly how we remembered it. The Gambino family still runs a great restaurant. Our server, Chris was outstanding and the stuffed flounder was outstanding. next time we're in Baltimore, we'll be back.
Ciao Bella is a nice, quiet restaurant in Little Italy. We went there for a quiet date night. While ambience and service was great, the food was just average. Our portion of lasagna and chicken parmigiana were big but there was nothing that stood out as far as the taste.
My husband and I enjoyed our lunch date. The ambiance was great and so was service and food.
Delicious, satisfying food at a fair price. Service above and beyond expectations, even for the large group we had. Mr. Gambino the owner takes time to visit the table. My favorite restaurant in Baltimore's Little Italy.
We go for our wedding anniversary every year. Always great food! The place is fantastic!
Nice, casual Italian restaurant with large menu. Friendly servers.
Hats off to the staff!! The owner and his staff outdid themselves! We are longtime residents of the Baltimore area and have eaten at several of the Little Italy restaurants, but Ciao Bella was still on our to do list and we're sorry we waited so long. We had 10 pm Saturday reservations after a show and were running late. We called the restaurant and they told us not to worry as they still served until 10:45.
When we arrived we were the only table there except one other that was finishing up. Tony Gambino, the owner greeted us at the door and allowed us to choose our table. He welcomed us and chatted awhile about his restaurant and the family business. The wait staff was very prompt and very friendly. Tony's big question was why we waited so long to try his food!
I already knew what I wanted, Tortellini with meat, which was excellent. My husband wanted a veal dish but hadn't decided yet. Tony asked him what flavors he liked and to allow him to create something not on the menu, promising it would knock his socks off. Once again, Tony did not disappoint. The food was excellent down to the bread that was to die for.
Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be back without a doubt. The food is very reasonably priced and very ample portions.
Food and service was very good. Facility was clean, and comfortable.
Serving size was just right.
Would definitely recommend to friends.
We will definitely visit again.
Have been there many times in the past and as usual, had another great meal. I had the Tilapia special and my wife had the Chicken Marsala. Both were excellent, as was the service. Our favorite place in Baltimore.
I enjoyed every aspect. The food and customer service was outstanding. I will return soon.
This was my fourth time eating there. The quality of the food has seem to go down.
Lovley dinner with my brother and parents.
