I took a close friend of mine for a Saturday date night, and we loved Lorena. We ordered many of the favorites recommended in other reviews: Fried Green Tomatoes, Pimento Cheese, the Crab Cake, and Chicken & Dumpling Soup (Course 1); the Fried Quail and Duck (Course 2); and the Angel Food Cake (Dessert). As my friend noted, the meal got better with each course, and I particularly enjoyed the aesthetic of the large windows with a beautiful view of the Devon Tower and the Midtown street crowd. Standouts for me in each category were the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Duck. The Angel Food Cake was light and a perfect cap to the meal (we enjoyed with coffee). I also had the Pepper Patch cocktail, which any spice or gin lover would adore. I won’t ever deviate when I return. Great service. I agree with others that there are a few things to work out as a new restaurant (presentation; utensils; space in between the tables and in-wall benches), but I was very impressed and think Lorena is a great addition to OKC’s maturing food scene.

Had the best experience last Friday night. The food was delicious and our server went above and beyond in providing the best service. All the staff are welcoming and provide excellent customer service. We had the deviled eggs appetizer, grilled Cesar salad, and fried chicken. Everything was delicious. Looking forward to going back

I was really excited about this restaurant. The menu sounded great and creative, but the food did not live up to the hype. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were amazing and after that it was a let down. I had the duck. If you are going to serve duck you need to know how to cook it, otherwise don’t bother. The duck fat was not rendered which resulted in a chewy fat cap and then my duck was almost raw in some spots. The sweet potato dumplings were weird and lacked crispness and the cauliflower rice was flavorless mush on the plate. We also ordered the pork chop which I don’t believe had any salt on it. Though cooked well, it was flavorless. Then we had the catfish. The greens were the best thing in the plate. The catfish was cut so thin, that there was barely any meat in the breading. So it ended up being just fried cornmeal that was dry. Truly horrible. It’s Oklahoma. Don’t serve fried catfish if you don’t know what you’re doing. Then for dessert, the banana pudding was okay. Nothing exceptional. It needed a sauce or something to make it special. We were also given a birthday dessert with a cornmeal cookie that was basically like hard tack. Cookies are not hard to bake….. The service was great and the atmosphere nice as well, but there needs to be improvements to the food.
