About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Hot spot
  • Good for groups
Fraiche (French for Fresh) is a fresh take on culinary fusion with inspiration from multiple cultures (including French, Cajun/Southern American, and Caribbean). This is also a fresh take on the historic architecture of the venue, which was once a theater.

Fraiche is designed to be a non-pretentious culinary destination with a nod to upscale dining without the stuffiness. The menu is constructed in a way that takes approachable and recognizable food and elevates it, with no flavor left behind!

Since the beginning of time, food has brought people together and that is our ultimate goal with this concept.

My husband and I were in town for a long weekend so we dined at a few restaurants. Fraîche was by far the absolute best. The food was outstanding - seasoned well, wonderful presentation and served hot. Our waiter and other staff checked on us throughout our meal. Highly recommended!

Fraiche is one of the best new restaurants in DC! Everything I ordered was amazing! Shout out to the GM, he was short staffed when I went but the service didn't miss a beat. Definitely going back as soon as I'm able.

I was really excited to try this new spot, especially with all the hype surrounding it. It took over the location where Creole on 14th used to be—and that place was amazing—so my expectations were high. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the anticipation. The décor was underwhelming and felt dated; I couldn’t really figure out what the theme or vibe was supposed to be. Our server was friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and making us feel welcome. However, when she brought out our drinks, she just handed us the entire tray and had us grab our drinks ourselves, which felt a little off. We started with the crab soup, but it was overwhelmingly salty—so much so that we had to send it back. To their credit, the replacement was much better. Next, we tried the charbroiled oysters, which were flavorful and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, the bread that came with it was harder than croutons and not edible. Overall, I can see the potential here. The concept and flavors are on the right track, but the execution and details are missing the mark. With some improvements, this place could be great—but it’s not quite there yet.

I have followed [the owner] Matt for a few years on YouTube and was super excited to finally taste his food while visiting D.C. for the weekend. BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!!! The food is phenomenal! It may have taken all of 15 minutes for the food to hit the table from ordering. We started with the Cajun mussels and Oxtail meatballs (these are fantastic OMG!), accompanied by bowls of She Crab & French Onion soups (also to die for)... And the item I was most excited to try were the Garlic noodles, I watched his video years ago and have been itching to try them ever since...they did not disappoint! I added the Lamp chops as my protein and they were cooked to perfection *chefs kiss*... If you've ever wanted to expand to the Midwest, Cleveland will welcome you with open arms & mouths LOL!!! Highly recommend if you're in the DC area, thank you so much to the staff for a wonderful evening! XOXO

Didn’t realize until later this housed Creole on 14th restaurant at one time. The ambiance has improved greatly with Fraiche. They usually only do dinner but this Sunday they stepped into the brunch niche and did it very nicely. They had some creative food choices short rib hash with sweet potatoes, salmon cakes with grits and the Fraiche frittata. The banana foster pancakes came paired with eggs(both perfectly prepared) and choice of chicken sausage links or bacon. So often it’s offered as add ons. Note the whipped cream and syrup came on the side, preventing the possibility of pancakes getting soggy. Plenty appetizers to choose from fresh oysters on the half shell and Rockefeller, generous crab meat tater tots to the flavorful rockfish bites. The food was fantastic but there can’t be enough said about the excellent quality of the service, Olive gave a new standard to above and beyond excellence. The only negative is there is no valet and street parking is difficult but not impossible. Welcome Fraiche to the brunch party, hope you stay for a long and successful time.

We had a wonderful experience at Fraiche this past weekend for brunch. The food was amazing and the restaurant had the perfect ambiance. We ordered the burger, French toast, and short rib hash to share. They were all 10/10! Would highly recommended and we will be visiting again soon!

Food was a little overcooked! Drink was made way too strong. Both were changed and made better! Overall the vibe in there is nice and good music!

Drinks were extremely overpriced for the serving sizes. The main entrees were not season well enough to be a Creole themed restaurant: Lamb Chops were bland, as well as the Mac & cheese. The sticky ribs were good and the fire roasted oysters with the lobster and crab was good too.
