The history of McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants began when Bill McCormick purchased Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant located in Portland, Oregon, and brought the more than 100-year-old landmark back to life. When asked the secret of how he revitalized a restaurant on the brink of closing, McCormick says, "I like nothing better than being a good host." Part of the managerial talent McCormick tapped was Doug Schmick, a management trainee. The two formed a partnership in 1974, creating Traditional Concepts, a precursor to today's McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants. In 1979, they opened the original McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in Portland, Oregon. The combination of an open imagination and a respect for tradition are what makes McCormick & Schmick's the classic and successful business that it is today.

Quiet Sunday evening dinner before a show at the Benedum. The host was very kind. Our waitress was polite and attentive. The drinks and food were all perfectly prepared and served hot. It made a lovely evening even better!

The food was great, but we had to choke it down like a burger bought on a short layover to make it to an 8pm show. We had a 6 pm reservation. The manager gave us a 25% discount, but we had to leave most of the food behind.

Our table was in a perfect location; it was private and looked out over the street. The food was excellent. The service was attentive but it took a while to get our food and it’s a little overpriced. A cup of soup was almost $11.

Theresa was wonderful! We were celebrating my mom being in town and her belated birthday. What a wonderful meal. All the food was delicious, we had several cocktails that were very yummy and the ambiance was just perfect. This is a go to spot for special occasions and they did not disappoint. We look forward to our next meal here!

There were 4 of us eating. No one was pleased with their meal. Two seafood dishes were dry and the salmon was tasteless. My wife asked if it was possible to get a little steak on her salad. She specifically said she did not want a full steak. She was charged for a full steak and a full salad. Very disappointed in the quality of the food.

Feel this place is over rated wide had the sea bass Oscar was very spongy both had Caesar salads pretty small for the price more like a side salad than an alacart salad I got 6 oysters and it didn’t come with one of the three advertised sauces I ordered the chefs special salmon stuffed with Brie, crab n shrimp when it was served it was a bit dry looked as though it had been sitting under a hart lamp and the taste was the same everything was good however expectations for a 200 dinner are to be great took like 20 minutes to get a club soda refill as well

Waitress was very nice and accommodating. No complaints about service. Also she was very attentive and responsible with my food allergy. Menu was stained, gross! Food was a step up from Friday’s with the price of a high end private restaurant as opposed to chain price. Felt like overall place needed facelift and good cleaning. Just not good.

Had reservations for quite some time for Valentine’s Day. We pull up, and there is no valet parking (mind you that Capitol Grille, Eddie Vs, Hyde park, Eddie Merlots and etc all have valet). So now it is 15 min before we are to be seated and where do we park…. Closest parking garage was closed, and we drove aimlessly around downtown until about 15 min after our reservation. Complete waste of time, nobody answered the phones to steer us in the right direction. Terrible experience, ruined our evening, and solidified why I will continue to go to the 4.7 star steakhouses and better. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.

I was mortified when I saw them cleaning the table next to me. The gentleman took all of two minutes and never touched the placemats. He picked them up, put them to the side and put them right back on the table. They were not even wiped down. In the days of Covid and germs that was horrible as I saw the next couple sit down with their hands on it and then forks and knives after someone else had just use them without being cleaned. Caesar salad was just ok. Really needed more dressing. My food was cold. The girl delivering the food didn’t know the table numbers so it just sat there for 5 minutes. We motioned her it was our food but she kept asking others. I got lobster tails and I was worried because I have never seen ink meat before. Please watch out for your bills. The server overcharged me $40. She gave me final bill without the detail. I said to just charge it. So I then asked for the detail and got a refund. I know it was Valentine’s Day. Still no excuse for not being clean. I wouldn’t go back.

Ambience was fine, it was the Saturday before Valentine’s Day, so understandably crowded with extra tables. Server was not attentive, I drank water all night because she never took my drink order. Calamari was mediocre, Caesar salad was not at all up to steakhouse standards. Just lettuce and dressing, dressing was fine. I think I had three croutons. My husband ordered a ribeye and thought it was excellent. They were out of the 8oz fillet so I ordered the crab stuffed salmon which was disappointing. Very plain with very minimal amount of crab, artichoke or cheese. The Brussel sprouts with potatoes was excellent, the highlight of the evening. The chocolate cake at the end was also very good. Not a bad experience and a decent value compared to higher end steak houses in the area, but those other places offer exceptional service and quality on everything they serve. I guess $150 for two people (with no alcohol) only gets you so much these days.

The tables were so close together the only way to sit down was to squish between them and consequently bump the tables beside us. Even the waitress couldn’t get through to refill my glass. I had to hand it to her. She was friendly, but had no idea what was on the menu, couldn’t tell us what the vegetable options were, didn’t offer to go find out. The menu said we could choose the way our fish was prepared, then ten seconds before the food came out she told us it couldn’t be grilled, so I guess they made it however they felt like, which was apparently pan seared. The food itself tasted good, but was so oily it ended up making me sick later. I’m not sure if they were off their game because of Valentine’s Day, but I won’t be rushing back.

Where do I start....service was poor! It was empty, but yet we waited a significant time for our food. The macaroni and cheese was too creamy, yet not tasteful by any means. My salmon and potatoes were not hot! It literally took 30min to get our bill, and then EVERYONE'S bill was WRONG. My family member had to find a manager to inquire what the hold up was. The one staff member took the incorrect checks back, and another staff came looking for the checks. There must've been NO communication. Then my cousin paid with cash to one server, who then gave to another who then asked the group "who's change is this?" The other staff had to tell her that she gave her someone's payment, NOT CHANGE! It took well over an hr for us to rectify getting the checks. Lastly, when we were walking out, another staff came to one of the guests and stated that there are 2 appetizers unaccounted for. This guest was one of the last to leave, and she was randomly stopped and asked about this. My cousin was thinking of hosting a private party there, but she has decided against it. It's extremely DARK and quiet! Absolutely no ambiance music, and the lighting was horrible. NOT A GOOD WAY TO CELEBRATE MY SONS 16TH BIRTHDAY! NOT PLEASED AND WONT RETURN!

The fish entrees are great. Two in our party had the Parmesan crusted flounder with shrimp. The waitress was excellent and even brought a complimentary dessert for my birthday! M&S is definitely worth the trip downtown.

Second time coming here and was better than the first but still didn’t feel like it was worth the money. Our first time was several years ago and we were very upset. This time my wife’s parents wanted to go so we gave it another shot. At first the waiter said they were out of several items including asparagus. Due to that I had to change my mind on which meal I wanted. The waiter was very monotone and didn’t really seem like she enjoyed her job and no personality. Once the food came, it tasted very good. The fish dinner did come with asparagus and when I asked the waiter she said “well we were out yesterday so figured today as well”. So overall the food was good but service just missed the spot and I didn’t feel like a 330$ meal for 4 people was worth it.
