Going away lunch.
Always a fantastic experience!! Will be back next month
Not unexpectedly the menu was seasonal so they did not have the shrimp salad sandwich. I ordered the chicken burger which came with some form of potato, posing as fat fries. The potatoes were dry and tasteless. When I asked for ketchup, I was told they do not serve ketchup. Well, they better stop serving those potatoes! The burger was juicy with onion jam, but still would benefit from ketchup....
went for a light business lunch on the early side. service was excellent although waiter stumbled a bit when asked what the Oval Room signature dishes are. certainly by 1230 the place filled up and the noise level rose accordingly. want to go back for dinner.
Fantastic overall experience! Would highly recommend
They are a favorite for me when I am near the WH and K Street and have meetings with key stakeholders. Fabu
New to DC so thought we try the Oval Room. Unusual menu. Nouvelle cuisine, so smallish portions but delicious. Not sure we'd go back, but maybe. Service was lovely. Pretty room. Pricey.
The food was deliciously flavored beyond my expectations. The portions are extremely small so if you're thinking skip the appetizer because it may be too much food, Don't!
I'm still not sure if the bread they give is supposed to be burnt on the outside or not, but it is Not appealing or appetizing.
Our group all had the tasting menu, with WIne - the restuarant offers great flexibility in that you can choose 4 to 6 course and each person at the table can choose which courses they would like. We all opted for 5 courses, Very interestesting combinations of ingrediant and great wine pairings. Service was outstanding, although admittedly it seemed to be a quiet night there. Only diappointment was the fig dessert, which was not really what we expected. First visit to see our daughter at her new college and she chose, hopefully all future visits and picks will be just as good.
Very nice ambiance. Food portions were small, decent quality. Salmmon lunch entree not cooked well enough for my taste. Not sure if worth the price. With all the other food choices in the area, not sure I would visit here again.
Food was excellent and the service also very good. Wonderful to find a restaurant with minimal noise, a rarity these days. Only concern is that the prices were quite high, and we (a party of three) ended up with a bill of $200. Be prepared for that.
The food portions are small and the options are all a bit odd. I have eaten here many times, but I think it is now just not as impressive as it used to be. Dessert was a highlight of the meal.
The Service was excellent. The food was very good. The desserts were especially good and creative. The ambiance was also very nice. The waiter even put a candle on my friend's dessert for his birthday! Overall a very good experience.
The Oval Room is an experience. The service is excellent. They are attentive and responsive to questions and special requests. The menu is a little quirky and some dishes are a little busy, so if you are a straight meat or fish and potatoes person this isn't for you.
Always consistent. Absolutely lovely, creative and delicious!
Comfy and elegant setting. Efficient service. Inventive and well presented food.
I eat here regularly, but coming here during Restaurant Week is an especially great value. Their menu options are always imaginative and varied, and the dishes in RW are not "dumbed down" for the occasion. They use fresh and local ingredients in combinations and ways that we would not expect, and their innovations are usually successful and pleasantly surprising. As a non-meat eater, I can always find a variety of options here, so I will keep coming back. And considering the quality of the food, their prices (even outside RW) are an excellent value.
The Oval Room does not disappoint. We had lunch there during a period when they had extended a portion of the Restaurant Week menu so got a particularly good value. The food was excellent and beautifully plated - with portions that were just right for lunch. The service was impeccable with the wait staff attentive but not hovering. It was a great lunch in an atmosphere conducive to a good conversation during the meal.
An absolute delight. Thanks for giving us a great evening!
Azuro took really good care of my dinning party! Great customer service
Food unusual & fairly tasty but my partner said his steak was overdone & not properly grilled. We were early so not many tables occupied, but many hovering wait staff seemed overdone too. I felt very watched and looked over; not a comfortable feeling.
Superb food and professional service made for a fantastic evening!
First-time diner during Restaurant Week. Great menu selections, food preparation, and presentation. Attentive service. Only drawback -- it took a long time for drinks to arrive from the bar. Otherwise wonderful evening. Will return.
A wonderful experience! Excellent service and great restaurant week menu. Very elegant room.
Went for restaurant week. Lots of choices on the luncheon menu. Service was outstanding.
Wonderful food and great sevice
frim our server Adnan. The pate was delicious, as was the steak and
Peach dessert and my friends also
Enjoyed their selections. We had a terrific time and will certainly be back!
The ambiance of this restaurant was very inviting, the service excellent, and the food was presented beautifully and artistically. We would definitely recommend it to friends and hope to return again sometime soon.
It my expectations of a DC establishment restaurant, and the fact that it welcomed patrons in comfortable, smart business, evening attire, not a stuffy place as some white linen restaurants can be.
We had a lovely dinner--great food, good wine, great cocktail. The service was well paced--we did not feel rushed, nor like we were sitting waiting on food or drinks for any significant amount of time. The waiters and servers were very professional, and made sure we were comfortable (including lowering a blind to keep the sun out of my face without being asked), at all times without being obtrusive. First class operation from start to finish. This was a repeat of an earlier visit, and both were memorable. We'll be back.
This was the first time I went to Oval Room that I was disappointed in the quality of the food, in particular the chicken. It had no flavor, including the sauce and vegetables. I think (hope) it was just an off meal.
Restaurant week experience: ambience is classic, good for business meetings. Menu many choices- a mix of classic & creative takes on classic dishes - steak, salmon, roast chicken. Cocktails were average, we had a disappointing Martini and they did not replace the drink with another choice, even though we didn’t drink it. This was disappointing. Service was attentive, but a bit sterile, might be given the proximity to the White House. Overall - a good value, just not our top pick in DC.
We went for DC restaurant week for dinner and loved each course, all 3, service, waiter was excellent, and beautiful environment 👍👍👍
Went for Restaurant Week and was first time eating at The Oval Room. Although my overall rating is not the highest, please don't let that keep you away. This is a good restaurant and I will go again. The chicken was very tasty and the chocolate cake was pretty spectacular. My friend has the grilled peaches for dessert which comes with peach sorbet - excellent (press you fingers to your mouth and blow a kiss like a fine Italian!). Service was good too and we did not feel rushed, but at the time we ate (5:30 pm) there was quite a bit of staff standing around near where were seated (probably their waiting area) and it felt like they were hovering. Put your fork down and someone swooped in to pick up the plate. Another oddity, ours was the only table without a table cloth. Just a weird thing I noticed. Waiter was charming (sorry I didn't get his name) and made us laugh.
Late lunch during restaurant week D.C. Food was great, service was great but the sound level was over the top.
It was so loud that is was impossible to have a normal conversation.
Noise level is my only complaint. Subsequently, I will not return.
I waited an extremely long time for a server to take my order, and hardly anyone was there. Took a long time for him to bring the wine list, too. Expected more from them.
Gracious, attractive, easy, tasty and great for conversation
Excellent. Lovely time, attentive service. Everything met or exceeded our expectations
Excellent attentive service from the moment you enter the restaurant till you leave. Hope them would bring back the Crème Brule though. That is a missing signature desert they have always had on the menu
Delicious restaurant in a great location. Worth visiting for a special occasion!
5 star in very possible way... Will disappoint no one!
