Restaurant was crowded but wait staff and hostess were terrific and added to the overall experience. Good selection of beers on tap and excellent oysters.
Limited menu but food
Was excellent. Waiter pushed a little heavy to upsell
Food was great, tables are too small for sharing several dishes and the service was a bit slow.
The place to go for creatively prepared, delicious mussels. We were there on a rainy Sunday night, so the place was pretty empty. Here's what we had:
Smoked salmon rillette - tasty, served with salad with spicy salad dressing and interesting crackers.
Mussels - harissa sauce absolutely excellent. Came out deliciously hot, served with good bread for dipping (We asked for more and got a generous second helping)
Frites - you get to choose three sauces. We had green goddess, smoked aioli, and black garlic ketchup. All good. My wife preferred the smoked aioli. I liked black ketchup.
One order of mussels along with the rillette and the frites was more than enough for the two of us. Next time we'll come back with mussel lovers so we can order a second kind.
Christian is a rock star guide. Everything was excellent. Trout inspired deviled eggs, perfect French omelette and a great Cabernet made for a late afternoon feast. Of course an excellent chef doesn’t hurt. Great team concept from everyone working there.
We had a WONDERFUL time. The food was divine and the service was terrific -- our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive but not intrusive. Two things that we especially appreciated were the conversation-friendly noise level and not feeling in the least bit rushed (even though the restaurant was pretty full). We were almost 90 minutes into the evening before our entrees were served, which was a complete surprise to us because we had been enjoying our wonderful starters and lovely wine at a leisurely pace. Actually, by the time our perfectly prepared fish arrived at the table, we were ready to resume eating, and by the time we left we didn't feel stuffed but pleasantly full. The ambience of the restaurant is great, though eyesight-challenged customers like me might appreciate a slightly brighter table light to read our menus. I have already started recommending Fisk & Co. to friends and colleagues. Although the price-point is a little high for me to dine there "regularly," is was appropriate for the quality and will not prevent me from returning as often as I'm able to.
We stayed at the Hotel Monaco and stopped in for a few cocktails and oysters at night. Very nice. Lunch we had the brussel sprouts in orange sauce, amazing. The lobster roll was delicious, a lot of lobster salad in a nicely toasted bread. French fries were cooked perfectly, warm. The waiter was wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly. They surprised us with a chocolate dessert for my daughters birthday. Complete with a candle. I’d definitely return, in warm weather for the outdoor dining area. We will return.
Sat in high-top area and enjoyed the brunch, especially the chia bowl. Delicious.
This is a nice little restaurant. The specialty seems to be seafood...oysters, mussels, etc., but has other unique offerings and home made pasta dishes. The menu is small, but has nice offerings. The drink list is creative and the wines and beers are great!
Apparently, there are seasonal offerings, so we tried the dessert for fall, butternut squash cheesecake....YUMMY!!!! There also is a great monkey bread starter, which is not a sweet gooey bread as usual, but is a great partner for wine as a starter.
Nice food. I had mussels. Portions are nice. Highly recommend this place
would only recommend it to those who are not interested in having good conversation with the meal. we left before dessert to go somewhere quiet for dessert, coffee and an afterdinner drink.
this is a shame because the food and service and ambience are all good.
Fisk & Co. is in a great location near the River and downtown theaters (Goodman). It has good food and service and reasonable prices for casual dining, all of which makes it stand out for downtown dining. Unfortunate, most choices downtown are expensive or junk food. I'm grateful to have another decent restaurant in the Loop.
Server was very unengaged. She forgot to put my soup in and I had to reminder after we had already gotten our meal. She never returned to ask how our meal was, we asked her for a dessert menu and she didn’t return ... the food was a bit over salted as well. Not the best experience.
Appealing munu choices.
Roasted veggie platter was delicious.
Walleye was tasty, but salty.
Chicken schnitzel not very warm, a little dry.
Nice beer selection.
A bit noisy.
Love the decor, oysters were amazing! Really nice place - reasonably priced.
We have been so fortunate to find great places like Fisk & Co thanks to all of the reviews here in open table. Once again, we enjoyed an excellent meal with excellent service! Awesome!
I love mussels and compare mussels at restaurants all over the city. The mussels were good, but for the price, you can find better. Also, I felt the wines were only ok for the price and the frites are very overpriced for the amount you get. Nothing was bad - everything was ok, but for the price (close to $100 for 2 people) I expected more.
The fries are amazing, I had some issues otherwise. The server was a little spacey, not knowing what bread a sandwich was served on. Also had to wait far too long for her to come back and take our order. A small glass of soda is $3 and when I asked for a refill she didn't mention it but it cost another $3 which I find ridiculous. The lobster roll was just ok - hard pressed to say it really felt like lobster, no chunks at all. Overall a little disappointing.
Tables are too close together
We chose this restaurant for its proximity to the theater we were going to in the Loop and because we really like Belgian food and beer. The starters were excellent - smoked whitefish rillettes and the snap peas - both were delicious. We also shared an order of mussels in the traditional sauce and an order of frites. Both were very good as well. The beer selection did not include as many Belgian varieties as we had hoped for but we each found one that suited our tastes. The prices are a bit higher than in similar restaurants in the neighborhoods but not outrageous.
Excellent food and service
I expected a much more fish oriented menu.
It is not a specialized fish restaurant but, overall, the menu can satisfied every taste.
Little bit overpriced for the quality of the food (mussels are cheap).
Bar staff was great, met some fun people, good wine and truffle fries!
Wanted to try it as we used to eat at its predecessor. Had the seafood charcuterie plate which was to die for has was the lobster bisque and the mussels). We have been talking about it since...
Great find! Location is close to everything. Went for happy hour and dinner last week before attending a show at the Chicago Theatre. The oysters were super fresh, plump and delicious! And at $1 a piece during happy hour makes them even better! Staff was cheerful and attentive! We’ll be back fir sure!
Excellent mussels! Excellent beer! Excellent waiter!
Enjoyed a pre-theatre dinner. We were early enough to catch the end of happy hour - 6pm. Good selection of Oktoberfest beers. Whitefish Rillette was especially tasty. Chicken schnitzel and spaetzel was also very good.
Second meal and again RADICALLY understaffed. Perfectly nice waiter with way too many tables.
Hmm...it’s a mussels and frites place. I order mussels and frites. These both take just a few minutes to cook but took 40 minutes to arrive. I am told they are very hot so be careful. The mussels are cooked but just warm. The fries are cold. They were kind enough to replace them with hot fries. The mussels were OK but would have been better piping hot. Message to management: heat lamps at the pass are not a substitute for adequate staffing and timely service, especially if you plan to serve seafood.
Fabulous food! Mussels and frites were superb.
The only slight negative...wait staff a tad slow.
A nice vibrant spot downtown with a well curated wine list, good cocktails and good food. The oysters are delicious, we also had the raclette burger which was very tasty and the gnocchi which was very good, if perhaps a little to peppery.
Very disappointing meal. They were out of several items on the already limited menu including kale for the salad, crab dip, charcuterie and my spouse took the last lobster bisque. The soup was lukewarm and salty. The wait staff was inattentive and no apologies for menu shortages. Definitely would recommend skipping this place for dinner since there are so many better choices.
Absolutely unbelievably tasty and original! We loved everything over there! I’m from Europe and so I know what a lobster bisque should taste, at Fisk and Co it was even better! The lobster inside soup had a zest of lemon and that was incredible!
Great! Great ! Great place!
Early lunch and out of all lobster dishes on a Saturday....Really? Next ordered mussels and frittes. The latter were lukewarm and soggy. WHen the manager drifted by to see how things were, I informed her. She was soooo awkward. She did not apologize and say she would replace them. So when our server came by, we told her. Pronto she made sure a fresh batch was on the way. So although the shrimp mortadela was amazing and the mussels were, as well, I have to temper my review. Finally, omn the way out, lots of tables were being served lobster dishes! EXPLAIN THAT ONE??? I would give them another chance, however.
The smoked trout deviled eggs were great. We were seated at a table that was right next to the room where a private party was going on - there was no wall between so it was quite noisy. But the food made up for the noise !
Always looking for a good dinner place near the Chicago theater, we decided to try Fisk and were delighted! Great and efficient service ( we warned them we needed to be out fast and we were.) the mussels and fries were great, classically prepared and a good size portion with bread for dipping. Lots of beer choices. Noisy was our only objection but we’ll definitely make this a pre-theater regular spot! A real find!
Happy hour jackpot! I hadn't used OpenTable in a long time, but my friend and I had tickets to the Andy Borowitz show at the Chicago Theatre, and Fisk and Company came up as a suggestion nearby.
It's located in the Monaco Hotel and I would HIGHLY recommend this place ! Happy hour $1 oysters that were super fresh...we got 12 oysters that came with a side of mignonette, cocktail sauce, and hot sauce. Enjoyed that with a $7 house rose (I should have written down the name, but it's a legitimate excuse to go back )
My friend and I also shared the kale caesar salad (baby kale, dressed with a lovely caesar dressing with anchovies that offered a nice briney finish...yummy! And every bite had grated cheese), a side of frites with curry ketchup (wish more places served this...the last time I had it was in Germany years ago), black garlic ketchup (don't get scared by the color...it's sweet from the roasting with nice depth of flavor), and garlic aoili, all scrumptious...then lastly classic mussels (white wine, garlic, parsley) with two toast points. Seriously tender muscles without the grit, and yummy juices that you could dip your bread into.
Unfortunately, we were running late, so we had to skip dessert. The server was so nice, this place is right across the street from the Riverwalk and offers a relaxed atmosphere from the hustle and bustle outside. I'm definitely going back!
Great experience Friday night. Started with $1 oysters which were great, then went with Chefs seafood charcuterie board and classic mussels and frites. Everything was real tasty and service was awesome. The best and totally unexpected part was Rum cake - the best thing ever!!! Definitely will be back.
We where really looking forward to having dinner here after reviewing the menu, they had a sea bass on the menu that looked wonderful. We were seated promptly and the serve Sam was great but informed us the sea bass was out. Very early in the dinner seating. Then when we selected salmon were told after the appetizer salmon was also out. The only seafood left was trout that came out flavorless. Sam was great in shifting to make sure we got something we could enjoy but it was ashamed we were so limited early on in dinner service
The food at Fisk & Co. was terrific. Very inventive. I had the smoked whitefish appetizer. Excellent. the Chicken Schnitzel was substantial but not too bready. The spatzle was clearly home-made and excellent. Service was even better than the food. I highly recommend Fisk & Co.
