The restaurant was not really crowded and brunch is self serve. Plates were not cleared in a timely fashion. Beverages were not replenished (the bartender started to bring coffee and water!). Most proteins were overcooked, and so were rather dry. Vegetables were almost raw. I hope that The Priory will make improvements!

the food was good and uninspired. The service was not existent. The waiter had to be tracked done. He never approached the table. For the price the food was very ordinary . I will actually encourage my friends to avoid it. One of the worst meals I have had in PGH.I felt it was a waste of money

Wonderful Elegant Brunch - we were surprised that the price was lowered for "Restaurant Week" in Pittsburgh, the food/value would have made us happy at their regular price. Omelet station / carving station and lobby tables full of standard brunch pastries, nice lox with mini bagels, but the star of the show were the lamb chops - perfectly cooked rare and delicious. They hooked up a player piano unit to the grand piano in the lobby, it was perfect background music. They encouraged us to wander the hotel after brunch to see the renovations in the chapel, the billiards room, etc - everything has been beautifully done. Did not see the rooms but would suggest this place to future out-of-town guests. Will be back for Sunday Brunch soon!

My boyfriend and I went to dinner at Manisons on Fifth during Pittsburgh's Summer Restaurant Week. I was excited to try this place because I used to live a few blocks away and I have driven by it at least 100 times. It looks GORGEOUS from the street. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our experience. We were off to a good start when we were greeted by the valet right out front and seated at a table for two in one of the rooms off the lobby right next to the bar. However, things quickly went downhill. Our server was nice, but not very knowledgeable about the menus (or the B&B in general). He filled our water glasses once in the beginning and then disappeared for long periods of time. When he finally came back and my boyfriend said we needed water, he gestured towards a large glass drink dispenser sitting on the bar behind us that appeared to have fruit and liquid in it, but we were never told that it was water or that we should help ourselves to refills. Our first 2 courses were fine. For entrees I ordered the crab cakes and my boyfriend ordered the lamb. My crab cakes were good, but the potatoes that came with them were uncooked. Some of my boyfriend's lamb was okay while other pieces were rubbery and not edible. Granted we were getting Restaurant Week rates, but still. My boyfriend became upset and told the server when he finally came over to check on us. The server just stared at us and without so much as a word walked away. He didn't offer to return my potatoes or my boyfriend's lamb to the kitchen or anything. A little later, a manager came over and apologized. She said that everyone was new. She offered to comp my boyfriend a drink. By that point he was so upset he just wanted to leave. She then came back and said "the meal would be on them." When we got the bill, they had removed my boyfriend's meal, but not mine or my wine. Beautiful mansion, but poor service and okay food. We will not be returning and would not recommend.

Dining at the mansions on 5th is enchanting. I love sitting in the library dining room imagining what it would have been like to live in this mansion back in the day. The food selection for restaurant week was very tasteful I enjoyed every bite. Mansions on 5th will always be my first choice when selecting restaurants for restaurant week in Pittsburgh.

We had an absolute blast. The food was great and plentiful (we tried everything on the Restaurant Week menu) and the building is so cool. Our drinks were really really slow coming out (our dessert drinks arrived well after we'd finished dessert), but that is a nitpick on an otherwise great evening.

We went with friends during Pittsburgh resturant week. For dinner 2 of us had the farm cheese and toast, a salad, lamb, and lemon pound cake. The farm cheese and toast was not great. We were expecting more of a gourmet cheese. The cheese was tasteless and I would not recomend it to anyone. The salad was amazing. Every part of it. The lamb, again amazing and highly recommended. The lemon pound cake was dri, over cooked, and nothing I would choose again. The other two diners had smoked salmon, vegitable soup, crab cakes, and flourless chocolate cake. The Salmon was wondeful (it made me really regret the cheese that I had chosen and I dont even like salmon regularly.) The vegitable soup was a chlled soup that reminded us of a tasteless watery salsa. Not a great choice. The crab cakes were cooked perfectly and had great taste. The flourless chocolate cake was moist, delicious, and clealry the choice the whole table should have made. The service was amazing, our server had personality, knowledge, and was great the whole night. Turn time between coure and for our check was very slow, but hey, I guess ot just gave us more time to be with friends. I would go back, but I would be more selective about the menu. There were key items that made the night and key items that broke the night. The place was beautiful, the staff was great, and I would re omend this to anyine looking for a good dinner at a special place.

The waiter we had was horrible. He won't even look at us. Others like the bar tender and the hostess had to come to our table and get us items we needed. He never stopped back to ask if we had everything...it was even an effort to get him to take our order. Food was excellent and very interesting ambience. The service was so bad not sure I would recommend.

My first time having brunch at the Mansions on Fifth and it was very good. They had a pre fixe menu instead of a buffet but there was also the choice to order from the standard menu. The food and service were very good. We arrived early and had a chance to look around the hotel. The woodwork and stained glass in the mansion are stunning. I highly recommend the experience.

I've been to the Mansions several times for Sunday brunch, and think it's one of the best in the city. A delicious and interesting variety of food selections, with attentive but unobtrusive service. The Tudor elegance of the setting completes the experience. Especially a great place to bring out of town guests. It's a pricey brunch, but if you have a special occasion or are just in the mood to splurge, you can't go wrong!

One of the original old line robber baron's mansions on Fifth Ave.with paintings of reviered ancestors and other family owned propertys on the walls. You can just feel that one of the servants was coming in to take our order. Alas, the food nowhere lived up to our expectation. A buffet instead of table service. Why? Soggy pancakes ,watery omlets, fried chicken not as good as KFC? What's up with this? The majestic entrance to the building lifts ones hopes as you enter only to be dashed by the quality of the meal.

I was a beautiful restaurant and I would pay to go again. Only downside is what is advertised is 30-50 a person when it is 75. Not a big deal, but did feel a little angry because of the false advertising brought us there. Would eat here again though. Great staff and great dinner even at a 75$ price tag.

Overnite and Valentine's dinner in Shadyside. Prix fixed menu was pricey but delicious with nice portions. Crab cakes were among the best I have ever eaten...seafood bisque was not too rich but boxed homemade chocolates were just OK. They had an excellent piano player adding to the ambiance.

Sad to say our experience was less than desirable. My wife and I came for valentines day prix fixe menu. My wife and I picked different options for every course so we tasted pretty much everything. For each course there was something "off" my lobser bisque was warm but not hot, and frankly wasn't flavorful. My wife's salad came out without any dressing. The entrees were good but not worth the high price of the prix fixe menu. We loved the venue but the meal was average at best.

The ambiance was great however the food was I would say worse than "poor." The salads were good however the salmon was over cooked, the barley robots was tasteless and undercooked and the Brussel sprouts were steamed or boiled and tasteless. The steak was more like a hamburger than a beef tenderloin and the lobster ravioli were straight from a frozen package with no sauce or anything done to them. Overall we did not enjoy our dinner and will not be returning. I'm sure the brunch that they normally serve is good and should reevaluate before offering dinner service again.

We dined during Pittsburgh Restaurant week in Jan. 2016. The architecture of the old manse was impressive. Greeted with valet parking. There is a charge for parking on-site. Very friendly and attentive staff inside. Our meals were good and the place was quiet enough for carrying on conversation. I would go back but it's not on my short list.

The Sunday holiday brunch is an annual event for our family. The ambiance is lovely and the food is excellent. A couple of negatives this year though. The six of us were seated at a flimsy folding table that was designed for four people. We were crowded and uncomfortable and had to ask to be moved . We were then subjected to an extremely loud and annoying group with toddlers next to us who made conversation impossible. Our brunch was anything but relaxing. That said, we will return next year and hope for a quieter, more comfortable experience.

We went for the brunch before the Pittsburgh Symphony benefit holiday home tour, and we waited 40 min. after our reservation, and, like last year, the hotel was overwhelmed by the number of people and the service was minimal, the food ran out and the delays were extensive. We won't be back, at least not on a day associated with a popular event.

I was very excited to try this place for brunch and would still recommend it for special occasions: interesting architecture, nice ambiance, friendly staff. Food was good however in comparison to Grand Concourse for example which is similar the selection is much more limited but their price is higher. In addition, our waitress didn't bring the silverware, she brought coffee but we had to ask for sugar and creme, charged for our kid who was under 3 yrs old while the website says they do not charge, etc. Overall good food, maybe our server was just having a bad day.
