Disappointed this time! Good attentive service tried, but this visit to Apna Masala was sad! Overly loud Bollywood video and shabby interior, bathroom. Weak drink and dried out chicken that was not saved in the sauce. (One person enjoyed his lamb shag) Prices were reasonable, and Groupon discount helped.

The experience here was not good the service was unacceptable. The staff wasn’t friendly instead of explaining the menu for first timers they just handed you the menu and waited till you order. No greeting no recommendations nothing nada.I won’t be coming back here again the food was good service horriable . This isn’t a welcoming restaurant if more business is wanted you need to make your customers happy customer service wise.

My wife and I went here last weekend. First, we ordered a pitcher of sangria. Not our go to for an Indian restaurant, but we figured why not. We then ordered 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 naan. Unfortunately, I think they initially forgot our drinks. That can be forgiven, it happens to every restaurant once in awhile. Once we asked about the drinks, however, they then brought us 2 empty glasses and still no drinks. Then they brought our appetizers, and still no drinks. To make matters worse, they also forgot to bring any of the sauces for our appetizers. After reminding them of both mistakes, they then brought the sauces for the apps, but again, no drinks. Finally, after multiple reminders and after we had finished the appetizers, they brought our drinks with the entrees. Then, to top it off, they forgot to bring out the naan and we sat there for another 4 minutes with our food in front of us waiting for the naan. At least we had time to finally have a drink! Overall, the worst service I have ever received at an Indian restaurant. I would not recommend.

Although the staff was extremely genial and the food was good, it's such a hot spot that it did get a little noisy for our comfort level when the dining room was filled.

This restaurant surprisingly exceeded my and my girlfriends expectations. Food is absolutely delicious!! They have an amazing appetizer that's like a avocado vegetarian wrap. I'm not and I can eat this everyday. Naan was fresh, unlike most places. Chicken tikka was amazing, not too creamy just right spice and flavor. Go here!!! You'll be impressed

The appetizers were fine: chicken tikki masala and vegetable somosa. The chicken biryani and palak paneere were adequate. But the accoutrements... Usually try to sample the house drink specialties, so I ordered the "Happy Day." The ingredients looked good, but I'm not sure they were all in the drink; it was horrible! After it the drink separated, I lost interest. Mango chutney tasted like it came out of a can. Never tasted mango chutney so bad! Mango lassi was watered down; never had a lassi so thin! The kheema naan was good, just a little shiny with oil. We had to ask for them to bring the roti. Love Indian food and have sampled many restaurants. This one is not up to par for NYC East Village.

I am a bona fide Indian food lover and I try to have them at least once and month. Believe me when I say that their vegetable samosas are the best! You can tell that the samosas are home made and with love! I highly recommend this place - plus, it's BYOB! The place is definitely authentic - from the service, to the decor (they got Bollywood music videos running in the background!), and the servers take pride on their service and food!

I made a dinner reservation at this restaurant in mid-May after reading the reviews on Open Table. Unfortunately, our group of four did not have the same positive experience. The first bad sign was that the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived at 7:30 - and there were never more than 3 tables occupied throughout the time we were there. Then, despite the emptiness, we had a very hard time getting anyone to take our order, and after we had given it, our server returned because he wasn't sure what we had ordered. After a very long wait, our food appeared. Of the four main dishes, one was over-cooked and tough (lamb), and one was very good (tandoori prawns). The sauces of two different chicken curries were flavorful, but the chicken itself was dry. Given the competition for good, reasonably-priced Indian food in the East Village, this restaurant needs to get its act together! Hope we were just there on an "off" night, but we won't be going back to see!

Delicious. Three of us split an order of pakora, followed by Chicken Zafrani, Kashmiri Lamb, and Baingan Bartha with both plain and garlic naan. And a Kashmiri naan that we hadn't ordered, but was made inadvertently. All flavorful and outstanding. We'd definitely go back and would recommend to others.

Very small place. Tightly laid out. Very broad menu with friendly service and solid dishes. We enjoyed everything we had the tikka masala was first rate and the biryani had a little kick. Great flavors!

With so many places to choose from in the East Village for Indian food my friends and I lucked out with this outstanding restaurant. What a wonderful selection of food to choose from at great prices. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive answering all our questions and making terrific recommendations. We will definitely return to this great find.

The Chicken biryani is tasty I liked it. It's nice on the corner spot the menu is on outside everyday. The Indian Music, films is great you can try watching them. The restaurent looks fancy it was great lightening You can also go there for private parties and special occasions.

Me and my friends were in Manhattan looking for a place to eat. We entered this restaurant and had an amazing time. The food was fantastic. This place is very nicely decorated. The people here were very friendly. They have nice Indian music playing and overall this place is great. Yes, i would recommend this place to a friend.
