Very nice. Desserts were too sparse. Need to be more substantial
Interior needs to be updated and made more elegant. Too chopped up in style.
My second time here, and once again -- just lovely. Beautiful table, Leanne was terrific, the quail was to die for, paired with a fine red. Love the glassware, the fine linens, the elegant yet warm service. Just terrific. I'll be back again and again. xoxo
My friends and I usually head to The Compound for a celebration lunch...but it's really also quite fun at the bar for a quick bite and fun conversation. The service is perfect, the food is delicious and wonderfully prepared/presented. Just a consistently great restaurant.
A high point for this restaurant is the bar. It's cozy, friendly and has a great bartender. The food and service are outstanding but way overpriced (37$ for three duck slices).
Not what we expected and certainly not acceptable for a fine dining restaurant. We have visited here many times and never experienced such poor service. It took 15 minutes plus before our server came to our table to offer water. Then another 15 minutes to take drink orders. Upon delivering our cocktails he decided to check on another table. When taking our order, he acted irritated when we asked him about various entrees and he cavalierly asked if we wanted a few more minutes. We said no and told him that we had been waiting long enough for him to explain the menu. We were served our first course and when we were almost finished, he approached with the peppermill, asking if one guest wanted pepper while clearly seeing that the guest had exactly 3 small beets remaining. Once the general manager stepped in to assist, things turned around. The food was good but not great. One guest ordered the lobster tails and for the price ($49), there were only two small tails..it was pitiful. It will probably be a while before we return.
the schnitzel was average and it is usually superb.
Four locals celebrating a mutual friend from CA. Our reservation was at noontime. Water service was quickly taken, and drink selections. Drinks did not arrive until 12:25
Service was very slow,! The restaurant was busy, but tables that arrived after us were served
their drinks and first courses before our waiter even took our lunch order.
Several of our guests ordered the stacked salad, OK . Generally speaking for those at our table from Santa Fe, it was a very disappointing event.
Sorry to give a less than positive review, but that was our groups experience.
Santa Fe, NM
Great food, great service, beautiful atmosphere! I will be back. Great for out-of-town guest.
You can't go wrong at The Compound. Besides the exquisite food and fully attentive service, one note is that parking is provided--not always easy on Canyon Road.
Our waiter was fabulous! Very attentive, but not overly intrusive. Ambiance was very enjoyable and comfortable. It was a very relaxing. We waited quite a while for our entree to be served, due to several large parties there that night. It was pretty noisy until a very large party finished and left the restaurant. This was my first trip to Santa Fe and The Compound was recommended by several sources. Loved the location in Canyon Road area! We would eat here again because of the lovely atmosphere and service.
We love this restaurant! The staff is amazing and food is consistently spectacular. Also, the bartender makes superb drinks!
We arrived for our 8pm reservation at 6pm and asked if we could be seated. We were not only given a table but one in a "private" room upstairs where we enjoyed more than an hour alone before the dinner crowd of Santa Fe began arriving. We were very well taken care of by a very attentive and informative staff. Our food was beautiful and delicious and what an extensive wine list! A perfect evening in a beautiful location on Canyon Road in Santa Fe! I highly recommend this restaurant!
The Compound is my go to spot in Santa Fe for both lunch and dinner. The food, atmosphere and wine list are fantastic.
We selected the perfect place for our (excellent) double-anniversary dinner: a first anniversary and a fiftieth anniversary.
Delicious food. Inviting ambiance. Friendly and helpful staff. A memorable experience for our trip to the southwest.
Everything about The Compound was outstanding from service to ambiance to food. A new favorite!
The best in Santa Fe. Great menu very consistently excellent. Wonderful service!
Abosulouely no complaints. The food was fresh. Gourmet uniquely creative and flavorful dishes. Do not skip dessert.
Service was professional knowledgeable and attentive.
We travel often and this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. Bravo ! Not to be missed if your in Santa Fe. Regards to Our waiter , Will.
Excellent meal. Great service. Love Sean's level of enthusiasm. Sauces were spectacular.
Great restaurant. We go here for most of our special occasions. The food is wonderful , as is the service.
I recommend The Compound to anyone visiting Santa Fe. It is not only delicious food, but a cultural experience. Great food, decor and service; it truly left us speechless.
FOOD WAS GOOD...IN NEED OF MORE SEASONINGS... SERVICE AND AMBIENCE WERE SUPERB!
Waiter was in rush to get rid of us
No dinner salads
A bit tricky to find but a gem, outstanding food and the service is attentive without being hovering. We will return next time in town
We really enjoyed the quality of the food, excellent service, nice room.
Presentations are great.
A little more of sapidity (salt) in the pasta cooking water would be nice.
Great experience w/Reginaldo!! Relaxed luncheon setting and final memory prior to departing Sante Fe.
Excellent food and top shelf, professional service. The Compound will remind you what a great dining experience really is.
even if it is high price it was well worthy the whole experience.
So disappointing, on every level. We have eaten at this restaurant, at special moments in our life over 15 years. We have noticed the quality of the food as well as the service gradually declining. After being away for more than a year, for what we told the restaurant was a "special occasion" - my wife surviving a year of cancer treatments, the special table we had identified (that had always been provided in the past to us, with great care) was "not available" when we showed up at the reserved hour. Rather than calling us and telling us that on this special night for us that they could not provide us with the care and service they would have wanted to, they seated us in a wholly unacceptable alternative. Had we known we simply would have gone somewhere else. There are MANY OTHER, much better fine dining alternatives in Santa Fe. We felt disregarded. We won't be back. The food was not good either. The duck smelled like ammonia to my wife. We both left half of what was served to us on our plate because it simply didn't taste good.
Maybe we were there on the wrong night but the service was sub par and the food was average. There are far better restaurants in Santa Fe.
Perfect, that says it all. Delicious, great service, highly recommend
Both of our main courses (halibut and sea scallops) were very good; didn't care much for the desserts (butterscotch budding and Bakewell tart). Peaches were a strange combination with the butterscotch..
Birthday - they made special dessert for our birthday girl! It was a lovely evening.
Food is very good; service lousy. The restaurant did not return my telephone call for three days. In the meantime, I reserved through Open Table and did receive a confirmation from Open Table. On the Open Table reservation I indicated the reservation was special: a birthday. The restaurant was unaware until I told the waiter who was serving as bartender, server, and bus boy. The waiter was doing his best, was congenial, but he was filling too many jobs. I thought that on a previous special occasion, the restaurant served a complimentary dessert--not this time. This experience was so different from our previous experience where everything was outstanding (food, service, etc.) Has there been a change in ownership?
We sat at the bar for dinner. What a cool little bar. The food was excellent and the bartender was amazing.
This was our second visit to The Compound Restaurant and we loved it as much as our first. It's so cozy; we dined in a cushiony corner booth. Eric, our server, was very personable and attentive without being intrusive. Bonus: he pours a top-notch martini too! We were at the tail end of our long weekend in Santa Fe, so we went with entree salads--despite the appeal of their in-house-made pastrami sandwich...next time, perhaps. My wife had the lobster and crab salad, which includes mango and is tossed with a tangerine vinaigrette. The lobster was adequate and tasty, but the crab meat was not "lump" crab, which was disappointing (and surprising). She didn't think the crab was adequate either. I, on the other hand, was not disappointed at all with the very good tuna nicoise salad. The Ahi tuna was seared to perfection. We shared a good California Chardonnay with the salads. Overall, our dining experience was as good as we expected. Lunch at The Compound fits nicely between visits at the many neighboring Canyon Road art galleries. Go.
The Compound is the real deal - excellent service & food!
This was the very experience we wanted. Good service, food and ambiance. We love this restaurant.
Exceptional service and attention to detail. The attention to matching wine and serving wine was the best I’ve experienced. The waiter recommended allowing the wine to open before putting it on ice to maintain proper temperature. Matched a rose with a cherry dessert-sumptuous!
