Nestled in the heart of downtown Western Springs, Petite Vie offers a menu curated with classic French dishes infused with Chef Paul Virant's signature flair. Spending time researching in France for inspiration, Virant has crafted every dish with meticulous attention to detail and a reverence for tradition.

Seating 65 guests, Petite Vie’s intimate space exudes the warmth and comfort of a traditional French brasserie, while seamlessly blending modern design elements. A collaboration between Virant, his wife Jennifer and long-time friend and designer Jody Tate, every detail at Petite Vie tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful curation.

Featuring French intricacy and layering, the space is a canvas of artistic expression, with artwork curated from both local talents and treasures acquired during the team's time in Paris. Framed prints, commissioned paintings, and a round antique mirror passed down through generations, adorn the walls, adding layers of intrigue.

A fantastic dining experience. Every item is cooked to perfection. The wine recommendations I received were spot on. Attentive and friendly service - it is clear everyone working takes pride in creating a great experience.

We had a lovely 20th anniversary dinner at this French restaurant that we haven’t dined at before. The food was delicious and the service spot on. Our server Marina came to the table with a couple glasses of rosé to acknowledge our anniversary. How sweet was that? My husband and I shared two hors d’oeuvres, the scallops in a lemon caper sauce and the mushroom tart with goat cheese, fried shallot & frisée. For dinner, my husband had the special for the evening, the coq au vin with white wine, bacon, mushrooms, onions and topped with turnips. He loved it and said the chicken just fell off the bones. I had the halibut veronique with pea shoots, fresh grapes and golden raisins. The halibut was fresh and moist, with a nice sear on top. To end the meal, we just had to share the decadent and rich chocolate soufflé crème anglaise. Such a fabulous meal and a special night. The bill came to $252 for the food we order, three glasses of wine and a cappuccino. We will definitely be back to dine here again.

Delightful brasserie with excellent food. Our table ordered the trout almandine and the papillote cod, both outstanding.

It was our first dinner in the new location and we were kind of disappointed. While the menu looked nice and the food was good, the space is cramped, it was extremely hot, air conditioning not working (really feeling like in France….), you could not appreciate the food because of the conditions. And there were many details that were missing, for example when you serve coq au vin in a medium bowl where everything was crowded and I couldn’t cut the meat properly, I expect to have a dish for the bones. And when you put a price of $28 for an appetizer with 3 medium scallops and a sauce, and then you charge 3% administrative fee, I think that’s too much, especially for a restaurant that opened recently and has the prices on its menu reflecting the market. Overall conclusion, it will be a while before we go back.

First time at Petite Vie and definitely will not be our last! We went here to celebrate a friend's birthday and made reservations to sit at the chef's counter. It was so much fun to chat with them and watch as they prepared such delicious and pretty food dishes! We had one appetizer (Foie Gras Mousse) one side (Vegetables de Saison) which I sadly did not get photos of and two entrees (Halibut Veronique and the special Coq au Vin). We finished with the Tart aux Fraises for dessert. Everything was amazing. The portions were nice and I didn't leave hungry or like I had over-eaten. Oh and the drinks! The Bonne Soirée Bianca is my new favorite cocktail and perfect for summer.

Service and food were outstanding! It was quite warm in the restaurant and I wish there was better sound abatement. It was little harder to hear in there than I would like

It was way too hot in the restaurant. Not acceptable to charge that much money and not have a proper solution. I also noticed 3 special box fans pointed at the chefs to keep them cool while all the patrons were way overheated.
