Long before the farm-to-table trend invaded America, Louisa’s espoused this philosophy, and served food to match. The tiny-but-iconic eatery was established in 1980 and has been dishing out incredibly fresh and delicious food in the small historic yellow building ever since. The menu is all regional fare — fish caught from the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay, plus vegetables, fruits, herbs (and beautiful fresh flowers) from West Cape May’s Beach Plum Farm, augmented by produce from other New Jersey farms.

The kitchen philosophy is to cook simple, expertly seasoned dishes that are lovingly prepared and made from fresh, first-rate ingredients. The menu changes often but the one constant you’ll find here is the dedication to a great dining experience.

We ate outside at Louisa’s and our server Kayla was wonderful…we were sat by the hostess, Ellis, who was accommodating. Delicious crab cakes and flounder for dinner. Dessert was the special of night; peach cake with Chantilly cream and fresh peaches. It was fabulous!

Very disappointed. Dinner was just okay. I had scallops,which were okay, but the sides - shredded cold cabbage & hard rice, were horrible!! Hubby had blue fish, which was good, but same flavorless sides which he also agreed were horrible (and come with everything!) Got bread which i didn’t hear waitress mumble had a $4 charge. For the prices, you could at least get a nice stemmed wine glass for your byo wine. So many better choices in CM in my opinion! Crossed off list & won’t return.

Very cute place, but it seems to be all about the deserts (which are amazing!) My scallops were a tad bland. They came with rice & shredded cabbage & there wasn't much seasoning on any of it.

Louisa’s tradition of great food and service is always so special….the “special” cold cucumber soup” and key lime pie were bookends for our delicious entrees ( scallops and crab cakes…! We love this special Cape May restaurant….❤️

Literally my fav place. Food is fresh and actually good! I come every year and always take 2-4 slices of key lime pie back home .

This was our second time there. We really enjoyed it the first time so were excited to return. This time, we sat outside (like we did last time). We ordered the scallops as per one of the waitstaff’s suggestions. The dishes were underwhelming, to say the least. Brown rice with no seasoning, shredded iceberg lettuce with only a slight hint of citrus and plain small scallops with little or no sauce or glaze. Flavorless and unappealing. I am not a great cook and I looked at myself husband and said that the dish looked like something I would make at home (and that’s not a good thing). It was loud, we needed to ask for utensils, we had to wait for water. Overall, just an awful experience. We’re disappointed to say that we will not be returning there. We spend a lot of time in Cape May so are sad to cross this off the list but we cannot go through that again.
