Il Casale - Lexington
il Casale Cucina Campana features an open kitchen clad with imported hand painted tiles from Vietri, classic Italian country furnishings made from reclaimed barn wood, and rustic metal ambient lighting pendants. A vintage map of the Campania region fills a floor to ceiling wall that is at the end of an 18 seat Carrara marble bar. il Casale Cucina Campana + Bar celebrates the ties to family and the roots from which they come, and Chef Dante and his brothers Filippo and Damian welcome each and every guest as an extension of the de Magistris family.

Sunday 1pm - 8pm LIVE JAZZ FROM 5-8 Sundays!
Bar opens each day at 4pm and Sundays at 1pm
Go here often. Great for date night, night out with friends, birthdays. Great food - terrific pasta dishes. Fresh foods. Nice atmosphere. Also can sit at bar and grab smaller bite, watch sporting events.
Had a great meal at Il Casale on a monday night. It wasn't very busy, so can't say what it's like when crowded, but we had very good service. The food was delicious
It was for a bday and it was nice
Nice atmosphere. Good variety of food. Great service. Nice cocktails. Can't ask for much more than that.
Great food, wonderful selection. We chose multiple plates for appetizers and main course to share with 4 people. All left full and very happy with quality of the food. No room for dessert!
The food was fine, but our server was not great. He may have been very busy for all I know, but the service was poor.
Fantastic meal! New fall items in menu were outstanding (Brussels sprouts, salads, soup, bucatini...). Becoming more and more of a regular. Excellent job, chef. Making Lexingtonians happy - thank you!
This is why they didn’t get 5 stars.
We booked a table at 7, when we arrived people were still at our assigned table. Although they had paid, they were just left to hang around. It was 7:20 by the time they sat us but only because the table decided to leave, not because they were told people were waiting for the table.
At the end of the day, some of our party were late because an event sucked up nearly all the parking, so all was well that ended well.
The food is great, the gluten free menu is actually safe for allergies (so far in my experience) and last time I commented on the lack of gluten free desserts, now to find an amaze flourless chocolate cake on the menu!
Very good and accommodated the diet restrictions for a member in our party of 4.
Juan is a delight at the bar or waiting on us. He’s well versed in the food and wine and is so nice, never pushy. He makes our night!!
I had to ask twice for the music to be turned down. :-(
But that was the only negative. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and everything else was perfect.
Only issue is that it’s really noisy. Tough with a large group to talk together.
Fabulous as always! Wonderful to have such a wonderful restaurant in our own backyard!
Food, service and ambiance were excellent. First time there for 2 friends of mine and they loved it too.
Been there twice in the past 3 weeks...will be back again.
Food wasent good
Had a lovely time. Nice atmosphere. Good food and service.
We came as a family get together and were not disappointed. We were intrigued by the appetizers and ordered several for the table of six. The arancini were the best I have ever had. We did a lot of sharing and were happy with everything we ordered. The desserts were good too.
Very nice. Restaurant should have more than 1 round table for parties of 6!
There was a lively Friday night crowd and everyone seemed to be having fun. Our servers were attentive but never hovered and made sure we were pleased with both the salad course and our entrees. The reservation was made via Open Table and a manager checked in earlier in the day to ask about our table location preference. This rarely happens with restaurants and it was very appreciated. This was a great choice for spending the evening with a friend.
Seemed liked a nice place yet the background music was definitely not what you would expect. Loud and more appropriate for a college frat party. Owners should find some Italian music.
The wait help need some training...disappeared when my table wanted refills on the drinks.
I was also deep in conversation with a dinner guest when the waitress appeared to remove the plates. The meals were clearly not finished. Evidently this is a ‘hurry up and get the —— out’ place!
Food was excellent, though. Just block your ears and guard your plate!
We've eaten at Il Casale before, but only had appetizers at the bar; this was our first experience sitting down for a real meal. It was a quiet weeknight and the place was fairly empty. The tables are well spaced and the acoustics congenial (unlike the Belmont location, which we find so loud and cramped we've given up on it). We shared a fried artichoke appetizer, which was excellent. We both ordered fairly traditional pasta dishes with red sauce, and shared a side of meatballs. We found the sauce more salty than we'd make at home, but otherwise all the dishes were spot on - tender lasagna noodles, flavorful meatballs, al dente pasta. The wine list is longer than you'll find at most suburban Italian restaurants, with a number of interesting and moderately priced Italian wines; we shared a Gattinara which was not cheap but well worth the money. Service was understated but prompt and courteous.
Service was excellent and food is good though pricey especially for Sunday lunch. There is only one menu—Dinner! I ordered the half organization chicken which was juicy and flavorful, what came with it was minuscule at best.
Food was good . Appetizers were OK but main course of shell pasta with braised lamb was amazing. I think appetizers were good but not a big fan of fried artichokes in general so can't hold it against them. would highly recommend.
I was embarrassed to invite my friends from New York to Lexington Il Casele.
Why they use the same name with Belmont one? It was totally different food. Please ask the restaurant owner to change the name not to confuse the people who know the reputation of Belmont Il Casele.
Four of us enjoyed excellent Italian food from fish to pasta to gluten-free- menu seemed to have improved markedly from several years ago- 4 fish entrees- small sized pasta servings- and the flavors were true and appropriate.
The food was excellent. The service was also superior. The waitstaff answered many questions that we had. I would definitely come back there again!!
Always enjoy Il Casale and the creativity they bring to dinner. The opportunity for dinner and a movie is great too.
Thanks Il Casale!
This was the third time we have been to Il Casale. The first time was when it opened in Lexington. The food was not up to par, the prices were high for suburban locale, and we found the atmosphere, staff, etc., pretentious. The pasta was not that outstanding. Second time the food was still just OK. The booth we sat at was against a pathway to the bar and kitchen and the staff kept banging into the back or leaning against the back of the booth to chat, which was disruptive.
We decided to go back after three years to celebrate our anniversary. The experience was improved, the staff was nice, not as pretentious. The drinks were very good, although a bit pricey. Food was good but not outstanding, average - would expect something better from Dante, especially at the prices - $40 for fish (halibut).
Even though the experience was improved, it will be a while for a return visit.
Excellent service and delicious food, in a pleasant environment. Best restaurant in Lexington, in my view. Heartily recommended.
Friendly, neighborhood atmosphere. Food is very good and straight forward. Server could be more attentive. Delicious complimentary dessert.
Unfortunately, the tables are very close together and the noise level is high and making privacy is an issue for tables of two. The food was good, not great. The service was very good even though we had a trainee.
Excellent food and service in a very noisy environment where it is hard to converse, a,d also hard to make your order understood.
Birthday celebration - it was great!
Fun, lively atmosphere. Great Italian food
Food and server were excellent!
The bruschetta was tasty but $9 for essentially one long slice of bread with chopped tomatoes and seasonings sprinkled on top. I think the entree prices seem reasonable but the appetizers are a bit overpriced for the size. I liked my entree. The lemon marscapone dessert was good but a bit too sweet for my taste.
We come here every several months and just about always have the same things: red sangria, bruschetta, lasagna, and dessert (and I usually get an order of cookies to take home). The lasagna is about the only place we're found in the United States that makes lasagna the way they do in Italy. Service was a little slow when we went recently, but that was an outlier on service--it's usually fine.
I’ve eaten here many times and usually the service is good. Sat night abt 9, not crowded, took ages for wine to be delivered and fir waitress to take order
Not sure I would go back to lex location. Prefer belmont
We went to Il Casale for a pre-movie dinner. Our reservations were at 5:15pm and we were out in plenty of time for our 7pm show. Everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. There was a large party in the restaurant at the same time but it did not affect our service at all. It is definitely on our list of places to return to.
Lovely place. Pleasant ambiance. Excellent food preparation.
