In our view, Chouette is a mediocre restaurant at best--mediocre food, mediocre wine, mediocre service, mediocre ambiance. Our server was not particularly attentive. The wine steward--whom I think is the owner--had to be asked on two occasions to pour wine from our bottle, which he had set on an adjacent table. We ordered a side of haricots verts, which one would reasonably expect to be well prepared and tasty at a purported French restaurant. However, ours were overcooked, over seasoned, and only medium warm when served and soon just plain cold. To be fair, the desserts were okay and enjoyed by all at our table. We have no plans to return to this restaurant.

For the cost we just weren’t impressed with the food or service. Our coffees were cold, our drinks were very delayed, they ran out of Bellini stuff, forgot my friends drink all together. The server apologized tons but everything was delayed or wrong. My other friend got the wrong cocktail entirely . For the price I felt the food was very average. Nothing got comped back at all for all the delays and errors. We were gracious but overall I would never go back.

The service here was expert. All members of the serving team were well trained, attentive as needed, knowledgeable and friendly. The food is also excellent. I appreciate the available variety of vegetarian offerings alongside the more traditional French menu. The vegetarian Caesar salad was a real treat as was the cauliflower steak which was substantial and flavorful. The traditional steak frites were spot on. We also got knowledgeable and helpful guidance on a wine selection. The meal was a wonderful anniversary dinner and we’ll definitely go back!

Goodness. First, the seating is so tight, you can hear the entire conversation of both of your neighboring tables, in full. Second, the service is pitiful. We got there are 6:55, go seated asap. Waiter came in about 10 minutes,. We ordered 2 cocktails and they didn't come for another 15. By the time we got them, the martini was lukewarm. We ordered a bacon tarte. The waiter said it would be about 15 minutes, and my spouse said no problem, just keep the drinks coming. The waiter never came back until he brought he tarte in 15 minutes. The bartender, while dropping drinks at other tables, had asked if we wanted another round, which we did. Still, we received the tarte, then waited another 5 minutes for a second drink. The tarte was good. It's pretty much puff pastry with bechamel and some thick cut bacon. By this time it was 7:55 and my spouse had had it with the extremely slow service, so we just told the waiter we had an emergency, paid the tab and left.

For a place that touts itself as a French bistro with a focus on fine French wines and bistro fares, the service staff fails miserably. Very little engagement, unfriendly, unknowledgeable. The snickering and staring amongst staff was unprofessional and uninviting to say the least. The most offensive thing of all was the dirty dish rag odor of the wine glasses which tainted the pours of Chablis and Sancerre we ordered. This was confirmed by my own eyes watching the bar back polishing glasses with a damp, well used dish rag. Absolutely will not go back
