What Insiders Are Saying
Fancy fine dining, San Francisco style. Bring your elders.
absolutely outstanding....from decor to ambiance....food to service...wonderful...Ill be back next time in SF
In addition to the beautifully crafted food, the service was professional, yet friendly and memorable. Neoo who served our table made the entire experience more enjoyable with his great recommendations of food & wine paired with a great sense of humor and charm.
Hamburger over cooked and dry. Only one hot sauce available.
I love that on your confirming calls you ask if the reservation is for a special occasion. As an example, I mentioned that my niece from Chicago would be joining me. We were seated in the back at a quiet table and it couldn't have been more perfect for our long brunch and conversation. Service and food impeccable as always.
Excellent service and the food was good.
We went for our anniversary before going to the Theatre at Golden Gate. The 5pm reservation gave us plenty of time to eat a relaxing dinner and still get to the 8pm show. The food was creative and very fresh. Will definitely be back.
Outstanding food and service
Very, very overrated. It's super expensive and supposed to have great service. I think not. It's fancy with mediocre food and service.
Service was wonderful. The chicken was a bit salty.
Amazing food and service. One of best meals ever.
One of the best meals I have had in the Bay Area. Spruce left both me and my date speechless multiple times, from the caviar egg to the waygu beef, chef has outdone himself. The sommelier was outstanding and his pairings were on point. The hospitality was extraordinary and service was impeccable. I would be surprised if Spruce stays at one Michelin star for much longer. Definitely worth a trip to San Francisco for this restaurant alone.
My girlfriend and I were visiting San Fran and heard about this place. We made it for Sunday brunch and absolutely loved it. Dining area felt a little dressy with the white table cloths but there was also outdoor seating in front and room at the gorgeous bar (if you prefer more casual setting). The food was beyond fantastic, as well as the service. We even purchased a few chocolate chip cookies in their coffee bar on the way out. They looked too good to pass up.
Very attentive staff, divine food, great place. Hidden gem in San Francisco.
Great experience with our closest friends. Delicious food and serious wine menu.
Spruce is always excellent and consistent. I recommend it highly. I just hope they don't go so high-end that they price me out of being able to visit!
This was my second meal at Spruce. The service as insanely good, despite the delay from the kitchen. Food was excellent although last time it was better. Overall a fantastic time.
The food, drinks and service were all outstanding! I hadn't been in a while but will certainly find my way back more frequently.
Very good meal, the only hitch was that the server brought the wrong meal for one of us.
Fabulous meal, attentive service, wonderful neighborhood spot.
We were very surprised by the disappointing quality of the food this time. We had been at Spruce before and loved the food. The white truffle pasta at $75!was overcooked, tasteless and drowning in butter. The risotto was very bland and watery. The duck was ok but relatively bland, the the tomato salad had no dressing and no interest so the only high quality tasty item was the pumpkin soup and the desserts was great .
Overall, Spruce was a good experience. It could have been a great one if the service had been significantly better. If you like alcohol and don't mind paying a lot, this is definitely your place. The menu is excellent, but a bit sparse, especially compared to the 109-page beverage list.
Nothing but kudos. Service was outstanding!! Food was also superb..
Ribeye special was fantastic! Great service and great atmosphere for a celebratory dinner.
Easily the best restaurant we've been to thus far on our dining adventure to visit all Michelin Star restaurants in SF in a year. We really want to come back before we finish our challenge. Exceptional food, maybe a little snooty sommelier, phenomenal service, and absolutely perfect ambiance. This is one of San Francisco's best.
Fantastic food and service. An incredible experience!
Amazing! Great food and service
I love Spruce. I live in Santa Cruz, but whenever I get to SF I go there. Lunch is nice; the bar looks so tempting, though and of course, I can not indulge before driving. One day I will...
Always happy to have a date at Spruce. The ambiance is sleek and the ambiance very lively even on a Tuesday. Service is very welcoming and attentive. They also have a killer bottle list.
Really excellent service... Food, on the whole, was so-so with a few amazing dishes (duck and foie gras were excellent) and a few misses (Risotto and the Blueberry Mochi were just meh).
We loved our brunch dishes. Unfortunately we think we both got sick from the Ramos Fizz - stomach problems during the night and we hadn't had any other food.
very nice food , this testaurant should have 2 Michelin stars .
This was our first time at Spruce. The atmosphere is sophisticated but also relaxed, with an unpretentious staff. The bar is inviting with an impressive list of wines. For our meal, I had the fig and melon salad to start, the combination was delicious and my husband had the Hawaiian Kampachi, which was light and flavorful. Our main courses were the NY Steak, it was a very generous portion and tasty; and the Alaskan Halibut special. It was light and delicious, with sauteed vegetable. We also ordered the side of roasted summer squash, which was seasoned perfectly. We were given a complimentary blueberry sorbet and devoured the homemade trio of sorbets, pear, plum, and chocolate for dessert.
Can’t say enough about this place. Every course was tremendous. Cocktails were fantastic. Wine (pairings suggested by our server) was incredible. Get the beignets for dessert. You won’t be disappointed. Will be our first reservation next time we’re on the West Coast.
As always, the service and food are great. I’ve never been disappointed at Spruce.
Exquisite starters and entrees - Heirloom tomatoes, Hokkaido scallops and Scottish salmon were terrific. Food prices are upper end but competitive. I did have sticker shock though when I perused the extensive wine list. Cabs starting at $998? $3000 sparkling wines? And seemingly dozens of wines in the $400 to $600 range. When the sommelier came over to assist I said "help me find a good cab for under 200 bucks". I was giddy when I got away with spending $300 on 2 bottles of a very nice Rutherford Round Pound 2015. I chalked it up to tech money knowing no bounds in SF. Server Daniel was terrific - knowledgeable, attentive, entertaining, but not in your face.
Leave yourself plenty of time to find parking. There is a lot of construction in the area and the already limited street parking is even more limited now.
Everything I've ever had at Spruce has been delicious, but it's my favorite burger in the world.
I hosted an important business lunch. I knew Spruce would be ideal. Top notch service and exquisite meal. Elegant dining room. And we could talk and hear easily.
Thank you for delicious fresh salmon and accommodating my request for salmon with little gem. Yum!
We went for our Anniversary and had an absolutely amazing time. The service was on point and all the food was absolutely delicious! I made a comment when we made reservations that it was our Anniversary and they made us feel very special. We will be seeing them again soon!
