Our newest restaurant, Afghania is the sister restaurant to Bistro Aracosia in the Palisades neighborhood of DC, Aracosia in McLean Va and Afghan Bistro in Springfield VA. Afghania accommodates any diet and is proud of taking cooking back to its origins.

Welcome to Afghania, where the Steppe of Central Asia meets the Hindu Kush and Suleiman Mountain Range, bordering South Asia. Come and enjoy the warm hospitality, exquisite flavors, and the mystery of the Afghan frontier that so many have been intrigued by.

Excellent food, large portions -- and the highlight was the dumplings. The owner/host was so very welcoming, and the atmosphere is upbeat, relaxing and cozy. Felt small and intimate. Completely worth the prices. Will definitely go back again. An usually good experience in an otherwise touristy area on M Street in Georgetown.

A wide range of very tasty, spicy food and attentive service; but the restaurant felt cramped and lacking in atmosphere, especially when compared to its sister restaurant, Bistro Aracosia.

Very yummy! Go with the recommendations of the wait staff. You can’t go wrong. Heads up. Not a restaurant (or country) for pescatarians.

Sat outside. Fabulous experience. Kathryn guided us through our first afghan meal. Thoughtful suggestions on appetizers. Dumpling sampler and quroti were wonderful. Dipping sauces superb. Lamb platter and chicken and beef entree were lovely. Wine selection superb. Desserts worth saving room for. Rose water ice cream was wonderful!

Afghania is a truly unique and incredible place, featuring dishes you will not find anywhere else. There is a wide selection of both vegetarian and meat dishes, as well as a nice selection of appetizers. I love that the appetizer menu offers smaller versions of some of the entrees - as someone who would prefer several appetizers to one larger plate these options were perfect. The food was fresh, and seasoned perfectly and the service was attentive without being intrusive. If you are looking for a place with a very varied menu with options to please everyone in your group, I highly recommend Afghania. You will not be disappointed.

Really great food that is exotic, beautifully different, perfectly spiced/flavored and expertly cooked. Afghania is a great restaurant for a mini-trip out of the normal and better known cuisines that you’re used to. I highly recommend it!!!

We celebrated my wife’s birthday at Afghania. We had heard/read great things about it so we had high expectations and Afghania exceeded all of them. The pumpkin dumplings were amazing as an appetizer. I had the mixed grill and all the meats were perfectly grilled and seasoned. My wife had a vegetarian platter which had one flavorful item after another. Can’t recommend Afghania highly enough. We are already planning our next visit.

This was a great dining experience. Unique, delicious menu. The dumplings were so delicious! The lamb was so tender and perfectly cooked. The service was great, definitely will eat there again!
