Amelia's Mexican Kitchen is a restaurant that fuses Traditional Mexican kitchen with modern twists.
Chef Jose Contreras has been named a 2025 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Southwest (AZ, NM, NV, OK). Named after his grandmother, Amelia, Chef Contreras brings family traditions to life with dishes like enchiladas, chilaquiles, quesabirria, molcajetes and tamales. With two locations in Tucson. Our signature dish "Amelia's Molcajete" is widely known in Tucson as one of the best.
We received several rewards for our food, the latest was 1st and 2nd place in best salsa & 1rd. place for best taco .

Amelia’s (Oracle location) has a fun, relaxed vibe. The menu has so many great choices and everything our group ordered was delicious. Carmen, our waitress was great and took good care of us.

Our waitress was unable to understand our order. She brought me the wrong beer. She didnt understand that I needed a straw. She spent all her time on a specific table where she clearly knew the patrons and ignored like 4 other tables, giving us all the bare minimum, to the point where we made friends across tables over her bad service and began low key making fun of the place as a new group of friends. This place has a killer rep but it's all smoke screen. You go inside and it's a dump with poor service. To top it off, they brought out a fajita plate on the sizzling skillet and nobody else in the place could even breathe from the smoke. There are a million other places in town just as good or better than this.

Very impressed with the service, food, and ambiance. Jonathan was our server and he was very helpful, kind, and on top of things! We were a table of 6 and we all were very impressed with our meals and service. I definitely recommend Amelia’s Kitchen!

Excellent food , only negative chips were stale and their red salsa had zero taste You'd think a Mexican restaurant would have better salsa The rest of the food was very good and the atmosphere pleasant?

Food was great. Our server was knowledgeable about the entire menu. Food, piping hot, came quickly. Our only complaint is took a long time to be seated even though we had reservations. The gal at the front was handling take-out orders as well as getting people seated. Not a complaint against her; she was doing her job. They could use a full time hostess.

Excellent place for Mexican food. The service is excellent and the food is absolutely delicious!! We have been here several times and have not been disappointed. This has become out new favorite place for Mexican food. Ask for Jesus for your server, he is outstanding!
