Friend in from DC.
Excellent restaurant qui mérite son étoile au Michelin.
Service impeccable. Nous nous sommes régalés et le menu 5 plats n’était pas trop copieux: un choix judicieux pour découvrir les différentes saveurs
They seemed to forget to bring our food. After 45 min waiting for appetizers we had to ask. I like a nice pace but that’s too long to wait. It wasn’t busy.
no review, just liked it a lot … ooops, you want 50 character—well, there they are!
Tables too close together. Wait staff unable to do their job. Gabriel excellent waiter-but clearly limited by his environment.
The staff at Sepia went above and beyond. The food was outstanding. Will be back!
The staff was very accommodating.
Although when they brought the cheese, they didn’t explain which one so which. So we had to ask the actual
Waiter for it.
Recommended for key life event which was barely acknowledged by staff
Service went from very good to poor as nite progressed and larger tables arrived
Food while creative arrived cold or undercooked. Pricing was high
A disappointing experience vs the hype
Service ambiance and food were great. Re Open Table, however, please lmk if I was given points as I haven’t been getting them, including for Open Table reservation in September at RM Champagne.
The tasting menu was impeccable, and the wine pairings were both interesting and spot on with the plates. Lastly, the featured wines were impressive mid-range varietals, demonstrating you don't have to spend a lot to drink great wine.
went for a work function. The size of the venue is not that and seating is very close together. However in terms of food service the experience was exceptional. We tried the tasting menu and it was a perfect amount of food with a lot of variety in tastes.
Amazing food, friendly staff, it’s hard to say just how perfect every bit of our dining experience was. Cocktails, flavors, pairing- if you want to impress a boss or a date- Sepia is for you.
We were on our way to see Elton John and made a last minute reservation at Sepia. It was a delight! The food was among the best I have tasted- fresh, original, flavorful.
WE'LL DEFINITELY BE BACK.
We visited the restaurant a few weeks ago for the first time and had a wonderful experience! The food was terrific, the service (Alex, waiter), was attentive but not intrusive, and the sommelier, Jenni made our experience really special. My husband and I are quite wine knowledgeable, and Jenni passed our table and noticed the wine my husband had selected for our meal. She commented it was one of her favorites, my husband and she started 'talking wines' and Jenni recommended a few more wines 'to taste' by the glass to accompany our courses. She was 'spot on' with every selection, and made our dining experience perfect. The restaurant itself is very creatively designed, not too noisy...but, certainly not quiet. I would say it is a vibrant atmosphere. You should go!
For it being a 1 star restaurant i was very overwhelmed by the tasting menu and wine pairing. Service felt very rushed. Better out there in this pricing category.
* Food was good.
* Service was so so.
* the ambiance was not from a Michelin Star Rest.
The food - Yes, it belongs to in the level of Michelin, but the ambiance was more of a simple restaurant. Cheap Chairs, the tables looked like a table people use to play Dominos.
* Nothing to be impress of
* we were actually disappointed.
* the problem is when restaurants win Michelin Stars 1,2 or 3.... People have high expectations starting from greeting the customers and that did not happened. :(
* very loud place
* the person putting water, very angry face liked he hated working there. Plus, forgot to put ice and lemons to the water. :(
* again, food was wow!!! Ambiance and service very poor!
* and for more than $400 for two people I been in much better places... Sorry Sepia, but we have no idea how you guys been able to keep the Star, because is not only the food, but ambiance plays a role, service and treatment. That’s why a Michelin Star Rest suppose to differentiate from the non-Michelin Star Rest.
I hosted guests from New York and Germany and they loved Sepia. Great room, outstanding food, terrific value.
Server apparently selected the pricest glass of wine in the restaurant for my client....cost restaurant as I was prepared to order more but due to his greed (apparently seeking a better tip), he acturally cost himself and Sepia!
Truly disappointed. Once seated and ignored for fifteen minutes before being offered a drink we ordered their tasting menu with the wine pairing.
The food was okay but certainly not a Michelin standard.
When they poured the one wine and filled my glass with sediment the waiter told me they usually only decant the wine if serving the whole bottle but not by the glass..What??
The service was slow, reactionary (we had to ask for everything) at no point did they anticipate our needs, like butter with bread.
If service matters to you at any level, do yourself a favor, go to Denny’s, the service will be 100% better.
Tried the tasting menu. Wonderful food. Gracious service.
Highly recommend. Well deserving of the Michelin star.
Service was very good. My friend and I had the tasting menu, which was very good and lower priced than many of the other local fine dining options.
Food was excellent. Service was efficient but not overly friendly. Was there for a business lunch and it didn't really feel very welcoming. I would go back for a date or with a more reserved group.
Superb from start to finish. Dishes were creative and could not have tasted better; unique blend of flavors. Waitstaff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant has a comfortable, elegant feel. I will return often.
Would have liked it a bit darker and a bit more music/background noise rather than people talking, but staff was incredibly professional and pleasant and wonderful and the food was delicious that it made up for it. Very good thing going! I love the place!!! Dope Wines!
Client Business Dinner
We had very pleasant experience. Service was very professional knowledgeable and friendly. Food was very tasty and artfully presented
Entrée choices (at lunch) are interesting, elegant and tasty, without being off-putting. The service is warm and unobtrusive and the room is quiet enough for relaxed or business conversation. All my guests are impressed. Really enjoy this place!
we arrived early but did not have to wait. very attentive staff, but it seemed a quiet night. excellent food and relaxing atmosphere. easy to talk without being drowned out by noise.
The food is really good, fancy place and the service is amazing!
Waiter brought white wine glasses for red wine. The ambiance is not energetic. Place needs some green plants and lively music. Couple of waiters were big enough that they could not get through between chairs without bumping them every time. Either provide for more space between chairs or hire skinny waiters.
Overall, not impressed. If this continues, I would prefer to dine at Blackbird or Monteverde any day.
Great place and amazing food. Exceptional service.
Only downside of it is that tables are really close to each other. We were at a table for 2. Some bigger tables were more private.
Menu was one of the best we had.
Great location and friendly staff. Always a fun and enjoyable meal.
This place was lovely. The ambiance was beautiful and elegant without being old and stuffy. The menu was creative and the food was delicious. Our waiter was helpful and accommodating with my dietary restrictions. My husband had duck but did not love it. My falafel was delicious but the confit potatoes were not anything special. Extensive wine list by the bottle. We had by the glass because we like different wines . Our waiter was fantastic, friendly and professional. I would love to go back next time I am in town.
very special, chicago style (i.e. ethnic vibe but very high level cuisine.
Sepia has become our favorite restaurant for fine dining in Chicago. It meets or exceeds all our criteria for a great evening. Most recently, we dined early on a Sunday evening, following a matinee performance at CSO. There were a number of new items on the menu. We started with hamachi and grilled octopus, and then chose pork tenderloin and redfish for our mains. The preparations in every case were creative and delicious. Wines by the glass were recommended by our server and they worked well with the dishes. Service was professional and attentive, but relaxed. The room itself is beautifully appointed and the tables are spaced to allow for easy conversation. We felt satisfied and renewed at the end of the meal and look forward to returning.
the food was beyond remarkable. Just fantastic!!!
Lovely restaurant, attentive service, excellent food. Portions are a bit modest even for a higher-end restaurant. As with most restaurants of this caliber, cocktails are overpriced - have two and it will double the price of your entree. Nonetheless, very much enjoyed my dinner and would return for a special occasion.
Amazing food amazing time
Very accommodating for our party. Food was excellent
This place is unreal. Food was terrific and the staffs incredible polite. Love it !
