   Service and ambiance was amazing! The portion size is small for the cost. Went for brunch/lunch so perhaps the dinner menu is more complex, would try again

   The ambiance got us excited however we were brought upstairs (which reminded us of our grandmother’s home) assuming to keep us from other diners as we had 3 boys. For the high price the portions were very small. We ordered the following: - Oysters (not bad) - Wedge salad - good - Fish & Chips (highlight of the meal, small portions) - Bfast sandwich (over rated) Service was average.

   Had a best pal visit from Montreal, took her to GP for our big best buds dinner. She said it was one of the best meals she’s had in years and she said about a single fry (and I quote, because it was so funny I noted it), “It was like like a potato pudding inside with the crispiest of exteriors.” She couldn’t stop saying how much she loved it there. Thanks to the whole team!!!

   I really wanted to like General Public, it’s in a cool part of town and the ground floor is really nice, however we were seated upstairs and to say the noise level was loud is an understatement. This is fine if you want a raucous atmosphere but if you are expecting to hear your table mates, good luck. It’s all hard surfaces and Miami Vice chic. The service was cool if aloof but competent enough, the food was ok with some good dishes (pork chop, shrimp cocktail, endive salad) but others just so so. Nothing terrible, just nothing on the WOW scale. Cocktails and wine list were maybe the best part with interesting flavours and a good wine selection by glass and bottle. Overall, I will not be back, there are too many other better restaurants in Toronto to visit.

   Overall a great first visit to General Public. Lovely atmosphere... def love the 2nd level. Comfortable. Yummy cocktails. Food was delish. Accommodations made for those who are celiac were v good also.

   This is a great spot! As always, the food was a highlight, but the service that comes along with it is spectacular. Make absolutely certain you try their fries. I assure you you won't be disappointed

   We thought the service was very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately the food was mediocre. Overly ambitious for the classic French dishes. Overly priced on top of that. I know they tried but not hitting the mark. They were respectful of one of our friends restrictive eating parameters which was nice but when it was such a big request to ask the chef to refrain from any sauce you would have expected amazing things to then come from the kitchen on the dishes served as designed. Alas . The space is pretty but it sadly is not the classic vibe that Le Swan hits. Maybe they need more time. But it’s expensive (and loud 😕) so I feel like they have to hit the mark out of the gate to get return business

    First time at GP and it was everything I wanted it to be. First, the decor is stunning. I always appreciate the effort Jen Agg puts into the design of her restaurants. Second, the food was delicious. And the cocktail menu was creative and fun. The staff was warm and welcoming, and provided great service. I look forward to coming back!
