A contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, near BAM, Barclay's, the Paramount, and Atlantic Terminal.

Strange Delight finds its influence in New Orleans and is also inspired by the rich history of oysters in New York. Our menu consists of regional seafood prepared in a variety of styles: Charbroiled Oysters and Shrimp Remoulade share the stage with classic seafood towers and Oysters Rockefeller. A rotating selection of larger plates features items such as Black Cod Almondine and Blackened Swordfish Belly.

To drink, Strange Delight updates old classics, serving both a Hurricane and Ramos Gin Fizz service for 2, alongside Martinis and Sazeracs. Our wine and beer lists feature our favorite American producers.

We offer 3 distinct types of reservations:
Regular: a table in our back dining room
Bar: seats at our back dining room bar
High-top: a higher table with bar stools in our front room with an open kitchen and oyster counter.

LOVED the food here but wasn’t crazy about the service. Took 15 minutes after we were seated for a drink order to be taken despite that we were sitting at the bar right near the hostess stand. The dishes were dropped constantly even when it was clear that we were barely getting into what had come out before- absolutely no pacing and felt rushed at times. These are all sharing dishes so it’s going to take a second for everyone to be served, and with 4 people it’s quite a bit of food. And the biggest pet peeve I have in hospitality- the bill was dropped at the end of the meal without a courtesy ask if we wanted anything else. Sure, a communicated table time limit was being enforced. I’d be more understanding if the restaurant was slammed and people were waiting for tables, but there were plenty of open seats. Dining out is supposed to be a relaxing experience, and we were trying to catch up with friends. This isn’t the place to do that.

Our server was amazing the back room is gorgeous- a modern deco look - a special place for sure - the front bar room is cute but loud - regardless I can't wait to go back.

Highlights: 1. Seafood Tower - my date and I ate this as an appetizer and found the single portion to be more than enough for two people. And it has all the dips! So tasty. 2. The special for the night was a crab fried rice. One of the best rice dishes we've ever had. 3. The service is impressive. I watched staff navigate around a tight open kitchen with ease. The expediter was so organized and ensured that all plates were presented beautifully. Chris served our table and he was welcoming, helpful with recommendations, funny, and had such good energy. Lowlights: 1. Prices are high, so I could see me coming here only for special occasions. 2. The restaurant itself is narrow and long, so that have to use hightop tables in some places. The hightops were the only tables available when I went, so if I were to make reservations in advance I'd choose the counter or standard tables for more comfortable dining. Suggestions: 1. Offer a happy hour with snacks and lower priced items 2. Complimentary bread

Super meal in this hidden gem. The service, ambiance and food all divine. Our seafood tower and platters and drinks were awesome and we can’t wait to return.
