   The rear room ambiance is not as good as the front room. Noisy conversations instead of audible music, plus not as cute lighting make for a less enjoyable experience. However, the steak tartare and pork spaghetti dishes were excellent. On everyone’s recommendation we got the French fries, but we did not think they lived up to the hype. Were they good? Yes. Did they compliment the other dishes in our meal? No. We also had the hamachi crudo. It was good, but missing some vinegar/acid element. Plus, I thought the fish was cut a little thicker than I would have liked. I’ll definitely go back to John’s, but I may order differently next time!

   Sat in back room. Much of our food came out super fast. One Entre` got lost in the shuffle and it took several of the wait staff to track it down. Timing was terrible. Entre’s were super average. Scallops were nothing special. Pretty disappointing.

   Having heard a lot about this restaurant, we were very much looking forward to our dinner here. Unfortunately, the timing was just off. The food took an exceptionally long time to come out. We each started with a small bite, which was a very tasty two-bite item, but took over 20 minutes to come out of the kitchen. I ordered a salad, which, again took 20-30 minutes to come out of the kitchen. My friend could not eat any of the salad, so after half of it was eaten, we again waited for a very long time for the beef tartar small bite to emerge from the kitchen. Again, this was a significant wait. The salad and the beef tartar were fine, but their quality was overshadowed by the almost one hour wait it took before they arrived at the table. While I applaud the restaurant's attempts to do things differently in the restaurant world, I wished someone had been keeping an eye on our table and noticed that we were absolutely starving, while the table next to us had been flying through their courses. Finally, after over 1.5 hours, our mains (pork cheek spaghetti and halibut) arrived and they were....meh. At this point, we were exhausted from waiting and underwhelmed by the experience. No one had really checked on us and we were ready to go. No one noticed that my friend had not eaten more than one or two bites of any of the food served to her. I now have a fridge of leftovers from my dinner at Johns that I'm just not excited to eat.

   In general the food was excellent, but I did not find it to be a great value. For example, the steak was outstanding, but was very small for $98. We also found the service to be spotty. We were seated in the back next to a vent that was blowing directly on us, and kept cycling between cold and hot. We said something to our server, but no attempt was made to address the problem. We also waited a long time after finishing dinner to put in our dessert order, which then took quite a while to arrive and came in waves rather than all at once.

   A great find and well worth the detour. Thank you Time Out for the recommendation. Imaginative and very tasty food. Mains v generous. Service spot on.

   Been wanting to try this place for a while. Food was DELICIOUS! However, we arrived at 5:00p.m. for our 5:00p.m. reservation. We ate our fabulous meal (3 courses, plus a bottle of wine) and were out the door at 6:07p.m. on a Saturday night. The total bill for the 2 of us was $255. This was a LOT of money to be rushed in and out the door! I think if we ate at McDonald's they wouldn't have rushed us in and out the door as much as John's did. So disappointed. They are VERY focused on turning the tables as fast as possible. The 2 top text to us was in and out in 47 minutes. This is not fine dinning. It's truly fast, casual at an extreme price point .

   Unfortunately, I was looking forward to this restaurant and was underwhelmed. I don’t think it lived up to the hype. The portions were smaller and not as flavorful as the price reflected. I wish it would’ve been a better experience.

   Everyone there was absolutely lovely and the dishes we had were great, but they were out of two of the main dishes so we felt a bit limited on an already small menu (especially with a pescatarian). Ordering everything upfront gave the experience a more casual vibe than the prices and quality of the food suggested.
