Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson is a vibrant contemporary American restaurant from Marcus Samuelsson within the Perelman Performing Arts Center. Metropolis is the culinary anchor of this new cultural cornerstone of Lower Manhattan and is honored to play a role in the final chapter of rebuilding the World Trade Center site. Its menu explores the rich culinary traditions of New York City through a modern lens with theatrical cocktails, a fun and worldly wine list, and gracious hospitality. Designed by David Rockwell, Metropolis features a dazzling yet warmly inviting dining room and a bustling bar, a landscaped outdoor terrace, and a lobby lounge featuring free-to-the-public artistic programming.

It’s a special place, open to the lobby of the PAC center which affords ability to enjoy the concerts that go on the lobby. The food is great! It’s really a special night out!

Superb, creative dishes, which were perfectly spiced. We had a variety of small and large plate fish platters and each was extraordinary. And, it’s a bit of a thrill to be dining in the lobby area of the new Perelman Performing Arts Center. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I work in the area and my family (husband and 27 y.o. adult son “foodie”) met me there on a Wednesday night for an early dinner before a show at PAC. My first time in the building. The menu was large enough to offer a good range for a variety of palates, but not overwhelmingly large. They also had a pre fixe and a pop-up special and we each ordered something different. Every single dish was gorgeously presented both visually and physically by a friendly and professional staff. And every single dish was absolutely delicious and unique. The proteins were perfectly cooked, and the seasoning and sauces were outstanding, with distinct flavors but not overpowering. The cost was quite reasonable for the food, but the drinks were a little pricey, although fairly typical of that area. The restaurant layout is large, open and airy, elegantly appointed but not stuffy, and the lighting and acoustics provides both an intimate setting and a party atmosphere. (We were there during happy hour) After the show we walked by and it was really hopping with a diverse collection of patrons: Wall Streeters, families, tourists, couples, from jeans to business wear, to date night chic. A good sampling of semi-upscale New Yorkers. The only suggestion is that they could use a few more restroom stalls. But the ones they have were clean and secure (attended)

Chef Samuelson is a genius: all his places are amazing. Ambiance was wonderful. Service was great. The dishes were unique and delicious. "Steak and eggs" which is steak tartare was really good. We liked the coconut shrimp and of course the corn bread. I really liked the crisphy fish and the asparagus side. The banana cup which they prepare in front of the table was incredible. I strongly recommend this place.
