I would pass on the key lime pie next time because the crust is firmly attached to the skillet that it is served in.

When first seated, the noise was unbearable, but our server accommodated our request for a quieter table. Kitchen was slow, but the food was worth the wait. The lamb melted in my mouth and was quite flavorful. My partner enjoyed the veal piccata immensely and the salted caramel ice cream was the perfect ending. We love Forno!!

Online menu included vegetarian and multiple gluten free options. When we arrived, they had no gluten free pizza or pasta at all, and there was no vegetarian pasta options. They made us a special vegetarian pasta that was just some pasta in ricotta cheese. One order had some green beans as well, but the other was delivered without. So, they were accommodating, which we appreciated, but I would not recommend this place if you are looking for places with a variety of options for dietary restrictions.

We always enjoy our dining experience here. Perfect location for pre-theater meal. Reservations recommended. Pizza shares well and is always good and often creative! The Key Lime Pie was overly creative and served in a cast iron skillet. While tasty it was difficult to scrape the crust from the pan. More experimenting needed but workable. Service always friendly.

The pizzas had so much garlic on them we thought it was cheese at guest. The panna cotta had no sugar in it and was to be blackberry but there were none and the key lime pie was in a small cast iron skilled and you could not get the crust out of the skillet to eat.

Convenient for the Hippodrome. Prices for plate sizes were reasonable compared to other restaurants. We had the cheese plate (3 cheeses: burrata, goat cheese and cotija cheese with a ramekin of spicy mustard, some pickled veggies and 4 😂 slices of deli meat), snapper (wasn’t fully deboned, bones were big), scallop fettuccine (pasta was undercooked and chewy, scallop gummy and needed seasoning), Caesar salad (meh), some wine (good) and the Paper Boi, a mocktail for me that tasted like sour orange juice with whipped cream on top. Wouldn’t go out of our way to reserve there again, but didn’t hate our time either. Everything was just middle of the road. B-

Service was poor. We ordered a regular pizza and it as just mostly sauce, barely any cheese, and it was served very late. Waited about 45 minutes for one pizza for my kid - it was the only thing we ordered. Never going back.

Incredibly convenient for pre-theater dining, however, it is typically very busy, and often, seating is tight. This was our third visit to Forno, and the staff was exceptional in handling the set-up of our reservation. The wait staff was fine -- cordial and fairly attentive, but seemingly in the weeds. Limited menu; decent wine list. Food for our group was hit or miss -- pasta itself lacked flavor, but accompanying sauces, shrimp, etc. were very flavorful. Pizza was lukewarm as if it had sat for a while before delivery to the table. Brussel sprouts were tasty and charcuterie was good. My friend was very disappointed with her fish dish, but I don't have details as to why. Food, for the most part, is reasonably priced. Ice cream is wonderful. All-in-all, a delightful evening with friends and family. The convenience and positive features of the experience outweighs the negatives. We'll be back.

Waitstaff were completely overwhelmed. I felt bad for them honestly...we could see our waiter hauling dishes around in the kitchen while he was also trying to serve us and others. We ordered ice cream for dessert and canceled the order after waiting for 20mins. I get that staffing is a challenge in restaurants these days, but it really does impact the level of service you come to expect for a place like Forno, especially when you are paying high dollar.

There were just not enough servers to keep up the occupied tables. So, there was a lot of time waiting for drinks and food. We had to get up and walk around to find our server to get our check to make it to the Hippodrome for the show. The server was very sweet and we felt sorry for her having to take care of so many tables. Not sure if I would return unless to just get drinks.

The server asked us if we wanted table bread and then never brought it. Our food was delivered and she never checked back on us. It took 10 minutes to get the check when it is done on a tablet style device that was already in her hand. The food is extremely over priced and lacks flavor. The pasta that said it had tomato and artichoke in it had 1 tomato and a partial artichoke.

Went before a show at the hippodrome with a party of 5- reservation was scheduled for 5:45 with the website stating there was a 90 minute window for guests to eat. The show was at 8pm and we didn’t start getting our meals until 7:30pm when we ordered our entrees around ~6:30. Half of our group didn’t even get their meals before needing to leave for the show, and what did come was ice cold. Per our server, the kitchen was short staffed which we can sympathize with, but this was super frustrating since we thought we had plenty of time to eat and get across the street in time. Our meals were comped which was very nice, but overall a negative experience.

First, the service was excellent, from the hostess to the server to the runners, everyone was welcoming and on top of their game. We were welcomed and served with warmth and professionalism, with perfect timing to have a two course dinner with cocktails and make it to our show across the street in an hour. The food itself was a disappointment - my $33 scallops on pasta arrived barely warm, and while the scallops were fine (though barely warm) the fresh pasta the restaurant promotes was dry as a bone -- not even a bit of olive oil, no sauce whatsoever. My husband said he thought the spaghetti in his Bolognese had been cooked hours beforehand. We shared the blackberry panna cotta for dessert and there were no blackberries, or even blackberry flavor, in the actual panna cotta, just two blackberries on top of it with a drizzle of olive oil (which IMHO offered no added value). I realize that it's all about the location and the food takes second place to being able to make it to a show across the street or around the corner in a minute's time - but the menu is not that complicated, it wouldn't be hard to make sure that the food is served hot and full of the flavor that the menu promises.

We picked this location as it is right across the street from the Hippodrome Theater. (We had tickets for Hamilton.) Our reservation was for 4pm, and we arrived about 5 minutes late but were seated right away. We perused the menu as it was our first time there, looking for gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian entrees. By the time we ordered, one of the cocktail drinks we selected was unavailable. Likewise, a pasta dish that one of us wanted was also not available. About an hour later, as we were finishing our meals, I overheard that one of the appetizers we had enjoyed was no longer available. The food we ate was good, but in two instances, it was our second choice. I understand that the restaurant opens at 4pm to accommodate the theater crowd, but I guess they don't plan ahead with enough food to offer their full menu. Be forewarned if you have your heart set on a specific dish, it may not be available. On the positive side, our server was fabulous. She made several trips to the kitchen to check on things for us and stayed upbeat and positive throughout the whole ordeal. In addition, they are connected to a garage and offer validation for half-off parking; this garage is much easier to get out of after the show than the Hippodrome garage.

We regularly go to Forno before shows at the Hippodrome and always expect it to be busy but last night was our first disappointing experience. We had a 6:00 reservation and ordered two pasta entrees around 6:15. We still had not received our food by 7:15 when finally someone came over and said they had run out of both pasta dishes and we would need to order something else. We quickly ordered two more entrees (the show was at 8) and the last key lime pie for dessert. The squid ink pasta dish was flavorless and fried chicken was surprisingly spicy. They ran out of the key lime pie and gave us two free panna cotta to make up for it but it had his overwhelming mint oil that ruined the dessert. I understand they were busy and probably understaffed but I don’t understand why we didn’t find out until 7:15, an hour after putting in our order, that they ran out of our dishes. It makes me think the waiter forgot to put our order in. To their credit, they gave us a $40 comp off our bill and some free items but I was very disappointed with the food and service. While I will be back, it’s more out of necessity because it’s the only decent restaurant near the Hippodrome. At least the wine and Taharka brothers ice cream were good!

For several years, 4 of us have regularly dined at Forno on our Hippedrome theatre nights. Last night's experience was TERRIBLE. Too little wait staff; appetizers arrived after the main course was served; no opportunity to order dessert; no drink refills; 3 of us ordered a menu item, but were told they only had pasta for 2; slow payment processing, despite multiple requests. The restaurant was overly warm, crowded, and very noisy. It was a disappointing evening.

Everything was delicious except this is the 2nd time in a row that we ordered a Margherita Pizza and it was very disappointing. We thought it was a fluke the first time. Margherita pizza isn't just called a cheese pizza for a reason. It should have fresh tomatoes, basil and cheese. There were only 3 spots of cheese. The other pizzas loked very good. The brussels and corn fritters were amazing.

Friendly and well-intentioned wait staff, but overall my experience was fair at best. If you like restaurants to be on the "cool" side, I would recommend you avoid it in the summer, as there was no (or poor) AC, which I assume is why my friend and I were told (at 6pm) that pizza options would not be available for another half hour.
