Coming from Atlanta, I know an overhyped place when I see one. It took over an hour to be served, they served us multiple incorrect items, most of the sides that they brought out were cold and had to be taken back to be properly heated. They definitely overcharge a bit for the food, but since they don’t automatically apply gratuity to small parties, I guess it’s all right. The food was just OK. The garlic green beans were slathered with jar garlic which kind of ruined it, the greens were super tomato-y, but the salmon was very good. The ambience is nice and I’m definitely glad to see a black owned business flourishing in the bay, because there aren’t that many. But the owner can only do so much daily, it really falls more on the staff.

Whole Crab Was Delicious With z garlic Noodles and Collard Greens ! Fried Prawns Excellent as as Well as Fried Catfish and Yams 😋

Our total experience was outstanding! The the hostess and the waiters were so very professional. The food was delicious. It is one of the few places that I can trust the flavor of the food to be consistent. I hope this restaurant is around for a very long time

As always Smedley’s was delicious. We drive to Oakland from Sacramento just to have this great food. We definitely be returning

My wife and I love the food , service @ Smellys. The service is first class and we feel like we are taken care of by the waiter assinged to us. The location is what it is. The Soul Food menu is perfect . I never order greens anywhere but decided to try theirs and feel in love with the taste. I’ll order them again. I’m a big fan of the Garlic Noodles. My 4th time there and I keep talking about Smellys to my friends. The Oxtails and the Seafood are my favorites.
