The food, staff, et al was solid and one of the Boston areas top restaurants. However, you can't really call yourself a "neighborhood" spot like Chez Henri used to be (and where Moeca is now) when your "mains" are $40+. The food is excellent for the most part - loved the jumbo crispy oyster app ($12 per oyster mind you & was listed as a "share plate" which it is not), the semolina cake was divine, and the main lobster spaghetti was great but too heavy on the sauce IMHO. So overall a good meal, but for the portions and with who they are competing with in the area, the value isn't there IMHO.

Service was on point, and every dish we had was delicious. The asparagus with the roe was the best I've ever had. Also the brown rolls were super light and fluffy. Would def. recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Moeca among the best, if not the best restaurant in Cambridge - inventive, creative food, wonderful service - and on the small size. Wine list excellent - many good values. Would like simpler desserts.

Excellent cooking. We truly loved all of the dishes and would order each of them again. The trippa alla romana with scallop skirts is one of the most exciting dishes I’ve had in a while. What a beautiful use of a typically discarded part of the scallop. Flavors were all on point throughout the menu and the cocktail game was strong.

Good ingredients. Overly seasoned. Not elevating the taste of the seafood due to over spicing. Seafood was there for texture but wasn’t the protagonist in flavor.

We loved our waiter, hostess and the ambiance, but the food was almost great but not quite there, I feel like everything was slightly underseasoned and the fried monkfish was tough yet the crispy part was soggy from the tamarind sauce. The grape sorbet dessert was really interesting but it had sooo many candied ginger pieces in every bite which the menu didn’t list, the asparagus sauce was great but the stalks were tough and stringy (just keep the tips), the beets needed some sauce or seasoning for that price, the savory tart’s sauce was really bitter, the cocktails were also just good but not great, for the price I paid, I would have expected a wow across the board!

Moeca is a delight that is 1000% worth your while (as is its nearby sister restaurant Giulia). The flavor palettes they work with are creative and unique; "I've never tasted anything like that" is a phrase we said at least four times over the course of a single dinner date. Roasted beets with nut butter, swordfish schnitzel, sherbet with verjus-soaked sultanas and marigold blossoms... it's kind of jaw-dropping. The staff are friendly and helpful and are beyond knowledgeable about the menu: the cheerful banter is a great fit with the restaurant's vibe. The decor is creative and comfortable. These guys are the best in town.

Incredible food. We got mocktails and plenty of sharing plates, there were no misses. Be aware that the restaurant really does close at ten, so we had to rush a little bit at the end.
