Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: Chef-and-somm brothers Oliver and Nicolas Poilevey's parents opened Chicago's beloved Le Bouchon, so there was already a ton of buzz when the brothers debuted Obélix in 2022. With black-and-white floors, burgundy banquettes, and a name borrowed from the beloved Gallic comic books, the vibe here is definitely more fun than fussy. Indulgent dishes like beef Wellington, aged duck breast, and foie gras macarons have helped the restaurant and the brothers score James Beard Award nominations and a place atop Chicago Magazine's best new restaurants list in 2023.

    The food was decent enough, but the service was terrible. I was there by myself and I think they completely ignored me. Took 40 minutes for them to bring me my food.

    I rarely give 5 stars in reviews but Obelix is an exception. The brunch menu is wonderful and the pastries are exceptional. We have decided we have to go back regularly in order to try everything on the menu.

    We really enjoyed our time at Obelix. Our server was wonderful and the drinks were great. Don’t sleep on the obelix dog and the lyonnaise salad! The beef Wellington and fries were out of this world! And bonus points for being quiet enough to hear eachother :)

    The caviar sandwich was divine! Everything about Obelix was wonderful - the service, ambience and patrons.

    We were there for lunch. The staff could not have been nicer. The food was excellent. We sat and visited for a long time but we weren't rushed.

    Service 8/10. I really liked the lady from mexico. Our server was also good. My pet peeve: please do not bring other tables, dirty dishes to my table to pick up our dirty dishes to add to them. I realize it is more efficient but for the restaurant like yours, not a good idea. Value: 2/10. About $400 for my son and me - no alcohol. Driving home I wondered if there would be good value at half the price to be honest with you I thought now then I said how about hundred dollars the answer was OK but maybe I prefer to spend that money at le bouchon close to my home. Or maybe I would've been better off to have gone to the market buy some bread and cheese. I can only imagine other people's bills who would order a bottle of wine or multiple cocktails. Macaron w foie gras 2/10. It would have been better to have served that as a dessert total mistake. Crispy rice foie gras w tuna. 0/10. Total failure at 18$ One bite of caviar I got that for my son I did not taste it so I give it seven out of 10 based on looks and the fact that he seemed to like it Soft shell crab. 6/10. Did you really have to make it so salty? We ordered the steak and 10 minutes after it we ordered the duck. The duck arrived five minutes after we ordered the steak arrived around 10 or 12 minutes later I don't know how but the duck was very dry. I give it I give it.4/10 Steak tartar. So much salt. Salt city 3/10 The steak was 7/10. Done correctly. The french fries were about the worst I have had in a French restaurant. Soufflé 6/10 Two scoops of ice cream, black raspberry and banana basil Thai man they were so sweet. I give them three out of 10. Overall, the service felt a bit rushed very much assembly line driven when I received the bill. I noticed 4% staff retention no biggie but a bit of a turn off as more restaurants now find ways of Nickle and Dimming customers aside from cutting the portions and the quality So if I give le bouchon a solid 7 or 8 on a good day, I think Oblix would be a solid 2 t
