   The lobster thermidor tasted like I swallowed ocean water it was so salty. They replaced it with the bone in pork chop and which was still not as tender as i would expect. But the staff at the bar was awesome

   2nd time having business lunch at this place. Even better than the first time. Staff is extremely friendly. The food is great. The atmosphere is a perfect fit for business conversations. Highly recommended.

   The afternoon opened with the first two guests to arrive waiting for 15 minutes for two basic cocktails (screwdriver and bloody Mary) at the bar. After all six of us arrived for it reservation, they had to put tables together still in an empty dining--they didn't prepare. After it was set, the "hostess" simply walked back to the front podium and pointed to the table across the room and told us we "could sit there. " We were greeted promptly by our server. First round of cocktails took 15 minutes to arrive (three mimosas and one vodka/soda--far from 15-minutes-to-make cocktails). One glass has lipstick on it--typically the number one lookout for a bartender on a wine glass or flute. For food, we ordered a breakfast bread basket with butter to start. The basket was quickly dropped off--no side plates or requested butter. The food came in and saved the day. We all had different dishes and we're all exceptionally pleased with our brunch food. Six dishes, all getting two thumbs up. The atmosphere was a bit cave like fire a Sunday brunch. Sat in the corner, away from windows, a more lit daytime atmosphere would've been better.

   When creating the reservation I made a special request, only to arrive to the restaurant and see that my request was not honored/met. The service was just okay, My date and I had yo wait an unordinary long time for simple things like bread and water. The food was tasty, and the portion size was not bad for the price. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, but warn you to beware of slow service and the chance of your “special request” not being followed through on!

    The hotel is next to my office so I dine or drink there occasionally. The Grill is okay. The offerings are hit and miss. Hits: Excellent bartenders. This is a great place to meet for after work drinks if you want to meet with someone and actually want to hear what they have to say. Martinis, real martinis, not a fruity or chocolatey cocktail served in an up glass, are deftly made. Of course, they come at a price, but you really shouldn't be downing more than two anyway. True 10 ounce drinks. I also had an excellent non-alcohol mocktail . . . flavor was great but it felt like a $12 glass of pop. I have had the Caesar salad and added chicken a couple of times. One of the best. Steak frites was great, the aioli on the side had an odd tang. Frites were perfect. Had a steak there once (I wasn't paying for it) and was underwhelmed. Same pricing as the myriad steakhouses dotting downtown's street . . . without aging, without proper preparation. Simply my opinion. You want a steak, go to Steak 48. Misses: Brussels sprout sound intriguing, but have been a bowl of mush the two times I have tried them. Way overcooked. Won't be a third. A lunch outing had me wanting to try the "Italian Beef" sandwich for $21. It was ill-conceived. No hint of flavor. It was simply a tough roast beef sandwich on a greasy ciabatta accompanied by the worst giardiniera I've ever tasted. The waitress assured me if I didn't like it, it'd be replaced. After she dropped off the sandwich, her offer was moot as she never came back to check on us. Service: Great to not at all great. Aforementioned issue aside, service is friendly. Management always seems aloof. Our waitress on this visit was awesome. Bartenders, again, excellent. The staff does not seem trained for the price level. You will learn nothing about wine offerings. Nor am I certain that they have a meeting prior to each service. Everything seems to be on the fly. All in all, good option for business. But a steakhouse is better.

    Went here for restaurant week and the trip did not disappoint! The food was excellent and our server was very friendly and helpful. There were some items on the regular menu that I will definitely come back to try!

    Waiter was great but food left a lot to be desired. Drinks were good. So was jazz music. The recommendation came from a social media influencer, who obviously got paid to do it. We will not go back.

    The restaurant is in a beautiful space. Our server, Jake, was awesome and super helpful in guiding our meal. The cocktail was delicious and my friends and I enjoyed every course.

    The food was good but our service wasn't what it should have been. Our waiter was not very helpful. We had to keep asking for information regarding specials and prices of market items. He didn't even ask what temp one of is wanted our steaks at. We had to call him back and ask him. The timing of food was also off. We spent a lot of time waiting with no one checking on us.

    Wine is way, WAY overpriced. Laughably so. Service was pretty slow, food was okay, ambience meh (it’s part of a hotel lobby). For all of the great places Chicago has to offer, I would not go back here. The Pappy Old Fashioned was fantastic though.

    I’ll chock it up to it being New Year’s Eve, but the overall dining experience was not what we expected. The staff and service were okay. It was obvious they were short-staffed, so I have no complaints on that. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. The food however, was just not on point. Outside of the Caesar salad and lobster bisque, everything we ate was not good. Our burger was overcooked, and my steak for the steak frites was tough. We were one of the last tables seated for the night, so maybe it was just a long evening. The server was gracious enough to offer a free dessert. That was a very nice gesture, but even the dessert (vanilla Carmel cake) was not good. We travel to Chicago often, and loved our stay at The LaSalle, so I will definitely give Grill on 21 another change. The staff was too nice not to. Besides, there were many patrons around us enjoying their meal, enough to make us think our experience was just a fluke.

    Great ambience. Beautiful restaurant inside of the LaSalle Hotel. Service was slow, drinks left a lot to be desired. Ordered the “made table side” Old Fashioned, but it was made at the bar . When ask about the drink made table side, we were told “the cart is too big”. Unfortunately, the food was subpar at best. We had the 21 day dry aged hamburger, unfortunately, it was flavorless and burnt. The Wagyu steak was disappointing. Absence of lobster in the lobster bisque, no char on the “charred” brussel sprouts. If you are staying at the LaSalle Hotel please plan to dine at one of the many great, nearby restaurants.

    The drinks were amazing as was the ambience. Appetizers such as the lobster bisque, shrimp, and fire cauliflower were delicious. However, the bread was frozen in the middle for the second batch and too hard to eat in the first batch. The Caesar salad was not good and taste extremely bitter like the parts of the iceberg lettuce the was used was closest to the root kind of bitter. The salmon was delicious but the side of butternut squash with pomegranate seeds was not. It was underseasoned and the pomegranate seeds weren't edible. The Mac and cheese had flavor, but the consistency was that of chef boyardee or baby food. The Brussel sprouts weren't bad, but required a little more crispness. If you want good drinks, possibly a good appetizer, and a nice ambience, definitely. But the food was a no. Service was great also.

    From the moment we got there until we left, Jake was such a superb server!!! The food was quite delicious and the atmosphere was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The set up of the restaurant and the LaSalle makes it a beautiful place to unwind. I would totally return to the restaurant for the delicious food and Jake’s hospitality!!! Definitely 5 stars!!

    Conveniently located to JW Marriott. Went on Christmas Day. Food was ok; lobster bisque and baked potato were the best. Steak ok, not super. Mushroom side super dry. Nice Servers, always felt cared for.

    Birthday dinner with friends. The place is new so they’re still working out the kinks but the food was amazing. Lobster thermidor and the mushrooms were delicious. The lobster bisque was good as well, but not as great as the thermidor and mushrooms. Our server struggled a bit, but the manager helped sort everything out

    Potentially a great place. I think that the kitchen is too small and it’s under staffed. We were there in October and after waiting an hour for our entree, we had to cancel in order to make it to a play. They were apologetic. Saturday night everything went smoothly thru dinner. It then took twenty minutes to order an after dinner drink and the check. Ten minutes later our server dropped the check and said that the drinks would be ready shortly. Unfortunately we had to cancel the order. Our server was good but it looked like he had six tables which is too many for this type of restaurant.We allocated an hour and forty five minutes for dinner which should have been enough. We will probably be back, but not with plans for after dinner.

    All 3 steaks were terrible (dry aged strip). Oysters were not good. Servers didn't know what they were doing we had to keep asking for this and that, or please take this and that away. Just a huge disappointment all around which is surprising given how excellent our stay at the hotel was.
