With locations in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Delray Beach, Houston, and Naples, the famed Vietnamese restaurant is designed to capture a bygone era of sophistication and opulence. Celebrated restaurateurs Rick Wahlstedt and Joe King deliver exquisite attention to detail in the luxurious, classic, and romantic atmosphere of Lake Forest’s lively Market Square District. The food was excellent and the wait staff were very friendly and attentive. They were eager to explain things on the menu that were unfamiliar to me. My one negative is that the tables are small and packed too tightly together seemingly to fit as many people into the restaurant as possible.

Upscale atmosphere, dining room and relaxed patio for dining if lucky enough to get reservation outside. Very attentive wait staff. Tasty cuisine

The ambience at Le Colonial in Lake Forest is beautifully curated — elegant, refined, and rich in character. The food was exceptional, and the lychee cocktail was truly memorable. We enjoyed meaningful conversation, delicious dishes, and a calm, elevated atmosphere. However, the initial greeting lacked the warmth and presence expected from a place of this caliber. No eye contact, no welcome — just a cold check-in and silent walk to the table. In a setting that prides itself on excellence, hospitality begins the moment a guest walks in. A simple smile and genuine acknowledgment go a long way. That said, the experience overall was lovely, and I look forward to returning.

Last night we enjoyed a number of favorites plus the new Asian Steak au Poivre...spectacularly seasoned, grilled sliced, accompanied by barely-wilted leaf spinach..! Beyond superb!
