The food at Southern Chicago was exceptional and delicious; really anxious to come back to explore other dining options. We are going to give it a little time, however. Our server, Robin, was very personable and anxious to please. If the kitchen and bar work through some very significant issues, she will have a much easier time doing so. I'm not sure the restaurant was prepared to open to the general public. We were greeted with smiles and directed to our table; the restaurant is beautifully appointed and we commented on how nice it is to have a high-end restaurant in the South Loop. We had several issues with our meal, however. We waited over 45 minutes to get our first drink. Robin took our order and came back about 20 minutes later saying the drinks were being prepared; however, they were not able to prepare 3 of our drinks that were chosen from the Signature Cocktail menu. Of the 9 drinks listed on this menu, they only had ingredients for 2; so, we changed our selections and waited another 25 minutes for these drinks to be prepared and delivered. There were more options on the menu that were unavailable, than were available to order. Everyone at the table had to adjust menu choices. The most disturbing part of the meal was how the food was presented, staff from the kitchen would bring out one plate at a time. The sides were not served with the main course and most finished the first plate before the second plate arrived. No one at the table ate at the same time. Lastly, we ordered desserts and they were never delivered. Robin tried to assure us they were coming, but they never came. The restaurant has tremendous potential and I sincerely hope they can train the kitchen and bar to prepare and serve items in a timely manner. Also, the inventory should reflect menu choices. If this was a weekend, I don't know how they would have handled a full restaurant. We're pulling for you, please take these suggestions to heart. We need you in the South Loop!

An amazing space! The staff was exceptional—attentive, welcoming, and made the entire experience truly enjoyable. The food and drinks did not disappoint. Highly recommended!
