THE FIG CAFE, NOW THE SIGHT FOR POPPY, WAS OUR LOCAL 'GO TO' PLACE TO DINE OUT. WE HAVE ALWAYS LOVED IT. THEN THE CHANGE AND OUR DINING THERE LAST NIGHT WAS OUR SECOND TIME DINING WITH POPPY. WHAT WE LOVED.....WELL ACTUALLY EVERYTHING BUT LETS DIAL IT IN A LITTLE; SERVICE WAS ATTENTIVE AND WARM BUT AT THE SAME TIME PROFESSIONAL. EVERY TIME WE REACHED FOR OUR BOTTLE OF WINE, BELLA WOULD SOMEHOW KNOW AND WOULD SMILE WHILE TAKING THE BOTTLE AND POURING OUR GLASSE....MIND YOU WE ONLY DID THIS ONCE, THE OTHER TIMES BELLA SHOWED UP TO HANDLE THE POURING ENRES; ESCARGO.....OH MY, SERVED IN A HOT IRON HOLDER WITH ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS PIECES IN SMALL CUP LIKE SECTIONS. I AM NOW HOOKED ON GETTING THIS AGAIN WE HAD ASPARAGUS SALADE local strawberries, whipped feta, espelette, almonds, lemon curd citronette. I'm not a big fan of fruit in my salad but this was so beautifully prepared and such a lovely treat OEUF AUX CHAMPIGNONS morel mushrooms, farm egg, fines ....IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO NOT DRAG THIS IN FRONT OF ME BUT I STILL HAD THE LIONS SHARE....THE MUSHROOM SAUCE WAS SO DELICATE BUT SO FULL OF FLAVOR THE FINAL START WAS THE PATE DE CAMPAGNE WITH SPANISH CAPERBERRIES CORNISHONS AND SMALL DICED SALAD.....PURE HEAVEN MAIN TRUITE DU MONT. LASSEN romano beans, fingerling potatoes, romesco sauce, toasted almonds. Exceptional GNOCCHI À LA PARISIENNE fourme d'ambert, spring vegetables, lemon. MY WIFE HAS NEVER ORDERED THIS ENTRE BEFORE AND DECIDED TO GIVE IT A TRY....SHE IS A REAL FOODIE AND SHE WAS SHOCKED AT HOW MUCH SHE ENJOYED THE DISH. SHE SHARED A BITE WITH ME AND I WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AT HOW MUCH I ENJOYED THE 'ONE' BITE~~~ MYY CHOICE WAS THE PORC LOIN crispy belly, barley, baby beets, cherry & rhubarb mostarda. DANG, SO MUCH ON ONE PLATE TO ENJOY WITH SO MANY LAYERS OF FLAVORS AND ENJOY I DID. ABSOLUTELY WOULD ORDER THIS AGAIN. WE DIDN'T ORDER DEERT BUT ONLY BECAUSE NONE OF US COULD ACTUALLY FINISH OUR MAIN DISHES SO DESERT FOR ANOTHER NIGHT.

What a fabulous dinner at Poppy in Glen Ellen! Six of us visited and Esther was our waitress. She is outstanding. We had the bread service with their sliced ham – a do not miss item! Their asparagus with strawberries is a unique and flavorful first course which we all loved. The pork entrée, ribeye, steak, and trout were each yummy and we all shared bites. Highly recommend this restaurant!

This was our first visit to Poppy. The food was really good (although the Coquille was almost room temperature), but I miss the more casual Fig Cafe. This new place doesn’t feel like a place we might go to on the spur of the moment, nor would we go regularly. As locals, The Fig was a place with reasonable prices and comfort food that we were able to go to all year round (we particularly liked going in the winter). But, this new iteration, the prices are too high, the food too rich and that doesn't work for us on a regular basis.

Dinner at Poppy in Glen Ellen offered good—but not exceptional—food, with prices that felt a bit steep for the quality. However, the excellent service stood out, making the overall experience pleasant despite the underwhelming value.

Just great! Congratulations and thank you for this wonderful re-invention of a popular neighbourhood spot in GE. Food was excellent, service warm and attentive, ambiance was intimate and lovely. Be back soon !

Second visit was as good as the first. After only four months they have exceeded all expectations, and attracted both locals and visitors to our region. A real French experience right here in the Sonoma Valley makes me feel even more fortunate to live here! Thank you to Sondra, John, and to French Joel Hoachuck, Director of Food and Beverage, who added vitality and conviviality to our dining experience.

Fabulous makeover of Fig Cafe to the new Poppy! Menu is more French centric now with many inventive choices and a good wine list too. We split a salad of strawberries and asparagus which sounds weird but it was delicious! Our main courses were trout (truite du mont) and pork belly (porc loin), both fantastic. Finished off with the lemon tart, so good. Brought our own wine and corkage is only $15. Service was impeccable. We will definitely go back soon!

Poppy is a nice transformation from the previous Fig Cafe which I had frequented countless times. Being from Glen Ellen is used to be my go-to from many years. Poppy makeover was since though closing off the kitchen made it feel so much smaller... We shared a 'Service de Pain' Pate de campagne. Very good. The Porc Loin-delicious. The Coquilles St Jacque-delicious! Overall the experience was worth the high prices.

Love the new look of the former Fig Cafe space and the banquettes! We visited with friends for our first visit. We tried several items, each one was delicious! The bread service is a nice addition as well. My outstanding dish was the Lassen Trout-cooked -perfectly. My husband and friend had the rib eye which was a special that night. They both said it was wonderful. The half chicken is enough for a meal and then some... crispy skin, moist inside. Corkage fee is a reasonable $15 We will be back for sure.
