   Great location, ambiance, loud inside so we ate amour back. Excellent choice. Service was great, super nice. Drinks also creative. However: $8 for chips and salsa 😕? Brussels we’re excellent. Rich and spicy. Then came the chicken tacos and brisket tacos. Chicken was a 4 out of 5 and brisket was a …. 2. Little flavor and too tough. Over done in my opinion, but I love brisket. Black beans ordered as a side as well, but no salt and no sour cream. Could have asked for both but would feel like an insult to the nice server. 😑. Hope they read some of the constructive reviews as I’m trying to be. The sides are far more volume than the main dishes. Interesting. So just order 3 sides for 2 people and you’ll leave full and happy.

   Great for anyone gluten free. Maya kinda fell into our lap and we are so glad it did! The food was amazing and the service was even better! The margaritas were to die for! We are definitely coming back for another date night!

   I think I ordered the wrong thing (chicken mole)….I’m a large man and I couldn’t force myself to finish this meal if my life depended on it. Also, please add the cauliflower tacos as my girlfriend has the pallet of a 15 year old.

   We were looking forward to coming. We got seated in the patio area but because of the rain we were sitting in a pile of water near the plastic hangover. The tacos came out rather cold, especially the shrimp, we probably should have sent it back but didn't want to wait. Everything was just average, a bit disappointing considering the good reviews.

    Great service! Our server was attentive but didn't hover too much. Great food! The watermelon salad was incredible! Mahi mahi was very fresh and served with a delicious elote. This is my fourth visit and it just keeps getting better and better.

    Great birthday surprise dinner for husband and friends!! Without requesting, they even brought us a complimentary dessert at the end! Really delicious and creative cocktails. The watermelon salad and street corn was incredible …. The quesadillas were amazing …. The tacos were top notch …. The tuna poke WOW …. We basically ordered everything on the menu and it was all fantastic.

    The food is delightful, consistently. The tortillas are divine and the perfect texture, and stay together well despite the tacos being full. Drink menu is fun and very creative, the zero proof cocktails are also great. We were there for early dinner because we had our infant (they do have high chairs and a small area up front to tuck a stroller if needed, it was quiet and service was fast. Our server was less than enthusiastic to offer suggestions or entertain menu questions, but otherwise service was positive and professional. It’s worth the price tag

    Requested iced tea. Not on menu. Small glass refilled twice. Charged for each refill without notice as if it was a mixed drink order Salsa was only available if ordered as an appetizer Overpriced and low scorer.

    I had made a reservation for outdoor patio a month in advance since good friends were coming in town. Unfortunately when we arrived (on time) they gave our reserved table to another party. Very disappointed in how that was handled. We stayed since we were tired & hungry though. Server & food we’re good.

    Maya FAR exceeded my expectations for unusual Mexican food. I have traveled extensively in Mexico and I have clear expectations of what I order. Gluten Free (since my wife has Celiac) is a MUST. We found everything we ordered to be delicious AND Gluten Free!!! Although we arrived at opening time, we ate slowly and never felt pressured to “move on” so a table could be turned. 21/2 hours later we finished, and headed back home. Delicious o!

    We were so happy to see a real gluten free restaurant! The service was excellent and everyone was pleasant. The manager stopped by to say hi and we enjoyed our cocktails, meals and of course, the churros. Great night!

    Great food and amazing service. This was by far the best service that we experienced during our stay in Charleston. Jenniffer (yes, two f(s), I checked!) was our server and was superb. She was engaging and honest - her recommendations were on point. She made the dining experience enjoyable. The food and drinks were fantastic. Make sure this is on your list of stops when you visit the city - chic ambiance with southern hospitality.

    We would definitely go back. The shell for the taco were ok but the nachos were very good . Thought the menu was limited but what we had was good. Loved the fact everything was gluten free which is a plus plus.

    Our dinner started off really well. It was very busy due to it being Cinco De Mayo. Our server came over in a reasonable amount of time to take our drink and appetizer order. The items came out fast. The server was very busy but he was able to remember our orders from memory and got the changes to the items correct. He even came back to check that he remembered the order correctly before entering it into the computer. My husband had a margarita and we had nachos and chips and salsa. Both of the food items were even better than our usual go to Mexican food spot. Unfortunately, that’s where the dinner started to take a turn. For our entrees, my husband ordered the braised short rib tacos which lacked luster. I ordered the chicken tinga tacos that I took one bite of before not continuing to eat them. They had an “off” taste that caused me to gag. My husband was full so he gave me one of his short rib tacos. We ended by getting churros that tasted over cooked and dry. If we go again we would stick to only appetizers and then leave.

    This is a great spot. The ambience is really pretty. We sat out back in the covered outdoor area with a large group. It was perfect. The tequila list is top notch. My margarita was fantastic. The shareable appetizers were great. And we ordered almost every kind of taco, and each one was superb. The service was impeccable we will definitely be back!

    Nothing bad to report! Food was fantastic; the chicken tinga tacos took me back to being a kid when my mom used to make it. The mole short rib was also phenomenal. Service was lovely and I thought it was a great value - ESPECIALLY for downtown Charleston! We will definitely be back

    I took my HS senior on a special trip to Charleston for graduation. We dined two nights in a row at Maya. Why? My daughter has dietary restrictions including gluten, shellfish & corn and Maya took those restrictions very seriously making adjustments as needed keeping food safety and taste a priority. Maya was not only knowledgeable but also extremely accommodating. Kendall & her manager (wish I knew his name but he worked both Sunday & Monday) surprised my daughter with homemade cinnamon gelato & the manager gave her a gift box of gluten free peanut butter chocolate loaf slices from Mercantile & Mash, their sister company. Despite the numerous limitations they were given, our meals were delicious and flavor was not sacrificed. Kendall and her manager bent over backwards for us last night in an effort to make our stay & dining experience special. Maya did not disappoint and they should be proud of their employees for a job well done. We will be back! Items we tried & loved were: tinga chicken, fish tacos, Caesar salad, brusseulas, margaritas, cinnamon gelato. I only wish we were locals so that we could support this place more often to keep them in business.

    Loved our dinner at Maya last night. The food was delicious and the service was first rate. Our waitress Cassandra was delightful. We enjoyed the fresh guacamole and the short rib mole dish. The margaritas were great too! Highly recommend. We’ll be back. Oh and by the way, everything on the menu is gluten free!
