The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen
Gorgeous restaurant, excellent service. The cocktails were not only beautiful but delicious as well. The meals were lovely and well presented. The staff was wonderful with our children!
An excellent meal with family & friends. Beautiful bars to the left and right as you enter - some fabulously theatrical cocktails on offer. Busy early evening though, so you may struggle to find a seat.
In the restaurant the food was very good - picanha steaks were the most popular choice at our table. The service was friendly and attentive - the waiters were fun and nothing was too much trouble. Our only complaint was that we were a little cold by the large windows at the far end of the dining room.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Moderately priced but good value. With tip, a good bottle of red & drinks we were around £55 per head for three courses.
We were disappointed by this restaurant. The ambiance lacked warmth, possibly because the place was almost empty. The food was mediocre. My husband and I both ordered steak, which was thin and overcooked. The only saving grace was dessert. Unsure if there was an in-house pastry chef or if the desserts were imported, but they were the only good thing we had.
Excellent food: the oysters and plaice were absolutely superb. Accompanying vegetables and salad very well prepared. Great chips. Good wine list at reasonable prices for Edinburgh. The good greatly exceeded my expectations. Service a little slow and ambience slightly impaired by loud music and noise from adjacent bar. But very good experience overall.
Absolutely superb Sunday roast sirloin with all the trimmings.
Early evening meal and birthday dinner for my wife and I ended up a real winner
The main restaurant was quiet upon arrival which gave us a bit more time to discuss menu and wine list with waiter Mindi
We picked expensive Chardonnay and weren’t disappointed
We both choose same starter of goats cheese salad which was amazing
Warm wilted leaves dressed to compliment goats cheese
Both mains hit the spot
Sea Bass and Battered Fish were both excellent with side of green beans with garlic flakes a stand out
Only disappointed on the night was the Duck egg custard was off the menu
However the food overall and the friendly waiter helped make this a SPECIAL occasion
As we left the placed was filling up nicely and we will be back
Good food and drinks
The restaurant is ideally situated in Edinburgh city centre and therefore in a prime position for passing trade. It is well laid out with lots of wood around and is spotlessly clean and refreshing. Only 3 tables were taken during my whole visit. The food was excellent, very tasty and the service was first class. All well with one exception. The mouse running around for around 20 minutes before it went home. It happens I suppose, from time to time. We reported it to staff, who apologised .... but nothing was done, although it would have been a riot if they did try to catch the poor thing, en masse. It is during the Festival after all. Anyway, it gave me a feeling that the said mouse and its family may be regular visitors and this puts me off revisiting. Overall 8/10, with mouse 2/10.
Lovely atmosphere in bar and dining room. We were not rushed at all by staff. Always someone to ask if needed but nobody hovering unnecessarily. Tables nicely spaced so you can have private converation. Fish was the freshest I have ever tasted. Thoroughly recommend for any occaision.
This was s great spot on our first night in Edinburgh. Teenage kids have food allergies and they were great helping us with that. All the food was delicious and nicely presented. Service was great. Meat items particularly great. This was a great choice.
Fantastic table in an elevated position at the far end window. Seats 6,and is recommended. Had the steak which was cooked just as I’d requested, and was very good. No complaints from fellow diners regarding their choices. Superb(Spanish?) waiter. The basics done very well ,without being stellar.
They allowed to make late reservation (10:15 pm) on OpenTable but when you get there they tell you that the kitchen closes at 10pm. Very disappointing.
The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen - a friends get-together meal on a Saturday evening. Good location, excellent food and drinks list. The staff where fantastic. I would definitely eat there again.
Relaxed atmosphere, exquisite food and a very nice wine.
Excellent service and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend it!!!
Disappointing that they ran out of their very own gin - which was advertised on the chalk board outside and on the menu. Otherwise very happy with our meal
Really nice decor, good steaks and a good drinks list. Nothing to complain about!
Traveling - daughters birthday
Food was good. Foil found in one of the dishes... apology was accepted, but no discount applied - not the usual standard of service I'm used to in a more up market restaurant. Service was slow at times, but not awful. Waited for almost half an hour on the bill. I don't like to draw attention to these things with waiting staff, but I'd had enough of the waiting. So I had to be fairly abrupt. Wasn't asked if we required more drinks after pudding and a quick toilet break. I wouldn't go back based on the service, but the food was good.
Excellent food and service. Ambience was excellent. If ordering water ensure you order tap otherwise £3.50 a bottle.
Delicious dinner on a Friday nite, last in Edinburgh. Had cider and a chicken, leek, mushroom, chestnut pie, presented with open moth ceramic black bird in center!
Very nice atmosphere, service, and experience!
Unfortunately pie left no room for dessert!
Lively, large bar with comfy chairs and Mocktails are great for drivers, classy intetesting decor, great food eg truffle chips! Love it
Absolutely fantastic atmosphere !l! Food was served efficiently hot and looked good on the eye !!! All our food was of good quality hot and very very tasty xx very reasonable in price with such a gorgeous room . Waitress was very attentive and informative x
Overall THE lunch was good. Waitresses very kind. THE soup was luke warm so needed to be send back. The end of the restaurant was quite drafty because of air conditioning. Waitress found us a better table. Why are the loos so low??
Had a lovely meal with my best friend when we were up in Edinburgh for the festival. Nice venue
Had a really lovely dinner at the restaurant. The atmosphere was great, not too noisy but still buzzing. Had a main and dessert, both very tasty but wouldn't have minded a bit more mash and a few green bits like beans, broccoli, tomatoes or something...
I would definitely consider going back next time I am in Edinburgh. As a tour leader, I would say this would also be a good option for groups.
Four of us had lunch for a special occasion. The food was very good, particularly the smoked haggis starter and the sea bream. The only downside was the service - when we were seated and when we asked to have sweets, we were only handed the a la carte menu and I had to ask for the lunch menu on both occasions.
Very nice meal at The Printing Press. It's quite casual so don't expect Michelin stars, but the food is very tasty. I had the gnocchi and my friend risotto (both vegetarian options). Both were good but I felt a bit hard done by with my gnocchi as it was a relatively small portion. Good to see some more inventive vegetarian options. Service was very good. The restaurant is part of a hotel and there is a bar at the front and a function room downstairs (wedding on when I was there) so you do feel a bit as if you're in the middle of a bigger occasion. If you want to avoid this ask for a table at the back away from the bar.
The food was unimpressive, but not actually bad. The ambiance was alright. We went there because it was convenient. We do not recommend this restaurant.
Great! Their lunch menu is a real deal
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening here. Food was fabulous and our waitress was super. Very attentive.
A great dining experience and one which i have already told my friends about.
I have booked twice now through Open Table and both times the restaurant has not been expecting us! The reservation didn't seem to have been passed on. Lucky on both occasions the restaurant was able to accommodate us.
Otherwise, again, a great night. Thanks.
Great building and décor. The service was good, but not special.
I thought the food was a little overpriced and the portions were too small. However the food tasted good although my fish slightly overcooked. This was acknowledged well and they removed a charge for dessert which was appreciated.
An excellent venue to catch-up with friends over dinner. The service was warm and friendly, and our three courses were each very good indeed - high quality, very tasty and beautifully presented. Very enjoyable all round.
The restaurant oozes charm and character. We were a little worried with having children there but it was relaxed and children's meal was excellent value. However I would have prefer chips not to have been salted. Our meals were delicious and not the cheapest option but food was very high standard and glad we tried it. If we ever go back to Edinburgh we will return and definitely recommend to others.
I had done the booking via open table. My friends arrived before me and they were told there was no booking so they were given a relatively bad table just at the door. When I arrived and show my email of confirmed booking their reaction was 'ooooh that's OpenTable booking that's a different system. We have two booking systems'. I thought that was a lame excuse not even an apology! Anyway we didn't want to allow that to ruin our mood. We sat our given table and ordered our food. Both starters and mains were average. Especially mains were too small they could easily be called starters. It took three different waiters to get our tea and coffee orders right after 15 minutes of wait. Overall it was a disappointing experience.
Service was slow, food terrible and gluten free choices not indicated on menu
Small portions, food mediocre. Nice surroundings. Two mistakes with meal order. Expensive for what it is, but convenient location and lots of space within it.
Explored menu - good results - first class overall !
Food was very good and the service excellent. Thought it had a nice feel
