Nestled in the heart of historic Grand Avenue, Bacanora defies tradition with its ambiance, intimacy, and flavors. Born from the visionary mind of James Beard award-winning Rene Andrade, Bacanora isn’t just a restaurant; but rather an experience. Rene and his team have shaped Bacanora into a haven for those seeking a taste of home and a warm hug with hospitality. Sticking to the roots of Sonoran cuisine, everything is carefully crafted over open flame y puro amor at Bacanora. If he’s up, then Phoenix is up!

You may still experience a wait time upon arrival due to reservations being booked back-to-back at all tables. Please practice patience and understanding if this occurs because we are working as hard as possible to get everyone sat on time and to have a great experience.

Parking can be found in the parking lot across McKinley from the restaurant, it is reserved for guests of Bragg’s and neighbors.

My wife does not eat beef. I should have looked closer at the menu since it is primarily beef dishes. We had a half chicken plate and shared it. Plenty of food for 2. I just wish there were more choices. 1 fish, 1 chicken, balance beef. Salad was great. Corn was outstanding. Drinks were ok, not great. Service was top notch. They were very attentive. Noise level was high us. We could barely have a conversation. Meal overall a bit pricey, but we knew that going in.

The service was impeccable but the food left a lot to be desired, especially for the price. The frijol dip we got as an appetizer was delicious but things went downhill from there. The carne asada burrito was fairly good, although light on the carne. The short rib was extremely fatty, tough and chewy. I can be a bit picky about meat but my partner isn’t and he couldn’t eat it either. I hate wasting food and love leftovers but the short ribs were so bad that I just left it. We have so much delicious Mexican food in the valley. Save yourself some money and have a better meal at another restaurant.

Heard so much about this place but was always hard to get a reservation. Only small amount of tables so that’s why. So worth the perseverance to get a reservation. The food was unbelievable.

The cocktails, appetizers, and main courses were all deliciously prepared, beautifully presented, and served by friendly staff. Bacanora is a great place, but the dining experience could be improved. It’s a bit crowded, noisy, and the tables are small. The cost of dinner didn’t seem to match the quality of the food. I hope they can expand and make some changes in the future. My favorite restaurant is Rick Bayless’ Chicago restaurant. Keep up the good work!

Food was beyond incredible! Every dish 10/10 - flavorful with so much complexity but also perfectly balanced. Portion sizes were just right for sharing, too. It’s a tiny place and you’ll leave smelling like wood fire smoke but it wasn’t “smoky” inside. Service was absolutely wonderful too!

They did a great job of welcoming us, and helping guide our order by answering our many questions. They were very friendly and helpful. Asked for steak to be medium, it came out closer to medium well so I was a little surprised by that. Other than that, food was amazing. Well worth the hype in my book. The cucumber salad was delicious, and I don’t even care for cucumber normally. I had the best cocktail in my life there as well. It was the old fashioned, but made with tequila. Wow, so good! Didn’t get to meet Chef Rene, that would have topped off the night. I can’t wait to go back and try what I didn’t get to try this time.
