The Bull and Beggar
Devon was amazing. He made recommendations and did an exceptional job. Food was phenomenal
Welcomed by wonderful aromas upon entering. Excellent meal. Fabulous Ploughman cheese & charcuterie platter! Hen in the Woods mushroom vegetable side is to die for!! Only negative: the next day our clothes smelled of food - perhaps better ventilation needed in the kitchen.
It took almost an hour to get our entrees after we finished our appetizer. The waiter was very knowledgeable, but we rarely saw him and had trouble getting drinks. The bone marrow that came with my steak was almost empty. My wife was so over waiting by the time we got our entrees that she said she didn’t really enjoy. Not being able to get a drink during the long wait didn’t help.
I have been to The Admiral many times, but this was my first time at The Bull and Beggar. It isn’t cheap but the prices aren’t crazy either. Not sure I would go back to the Bull and Beggar.
From out of town. Recommended by a friend. Steaks were terrific.
We go here mainly for the oyster happy hour: a choice of 8-12 varieties, many from New England, Canada and the Northwest. They are always fresh and half-price from 5-6. As far as we are concerned, this is oyster heaven. But we also enjoy the great atmosphere, lively bar scene, the unique wine list, and some of the other menu items. Our bartender is always attentive and eager to please. It would be nice if they added a few more entrees.
Great food and atmosphere.
Not sure why the risotto (starter plate) was the same price as the Sea Bass entree ($28).
Loved this restaurant! Fabulous small plates, cocktails and atmosphere! The octopus, raclette, oysters and OH MY GOD that roast pumpkin and ricotta! Can't wait to go back!
I ordered a fillet mignon and it was excellent. It was perfectly prepared and flavorful. It far exceeded my expectations. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. I would like to come back. My only concern was the parking lot. Someone needs to fill in the holes.
The oysters were wonderful, as was the pumpkin and sea bass entree. The portions were tiny and just not worth the price. The waitress seemed bothered to answer questions about the menu.
Alway a step above in food and service
Went early to avoid the crowd
Nice pace of service without rushing. and great atmosphere
One of our favorite restaurants in Asheville. Great atmosphere: low lighting and rustic/ industrial. The food is different, imaginative and superb. Can’t say enough good things aboutvthe restaurant. Reserve early if you want a spot on the weekends.
One of the best date nights ever. We ate from the small plates and appetizers list so we could try as much as possible! Everything was amazing. The Duck Liver Parfait is the BEST!!!!
We love the Monday night burger event...and the oyster bar which is half price until 6...even on busy nights, the service is consistent and wonderful...we're always greeted nicely ... one of our favorite places in Asheville!
Best place to eat in Asheville!
Had a great meal. Love to find new places in A Town to eat. Waitress was weird, didn’t want to explain menu, seemed bothered with questions. Wore funny looking glasses upstairs. We will be back. Thanks for a great meal.
Love this restaurant! It's great for out of town guests and with local friends. Perfect to share a bunch of appetizers and sides. That way everyone gets to try all of the yummy food. One can go light or heavy. There are lots of choices from which to choose. Oysters are great. Their version of ceaser salad is great. Lobster roll is lovely. so much great food. Friendly service. Available parking.
The food is amazing and the cocktails are wonderful and the staff are outstanding and professional. have food allergies and the staff were amazingly accommodating.
Great food, terrific service. Location is unique, warehouse hip
We live in Florida and when visiting Asheville we stumbled across the Bull and Begger. Marvelous innovative cuisine. The service was great. I would recommend this restaurant.
This is a must if you come to asheville. The location is off of her bustle of downtown which gives it a unique feeling. Great food. Everything was perfectly executed. I strongly recommend making a reservation because it gets packed especially on Friday/ Saturday.
Fantastic service. The staff went above and beyond for my partner’s birthday and we greatly appreciated every moment.
We had a late dinner and sat at the bar. The bartender was extremely friendly and knowledgable and the food was fantastic!
Always a fun spot and a good selection of small plates for trying lots of different menu items.
We are locals and this is our go to restaurant. Great for foodies. Casual. Wonderful
Attentive timely service. Creative chef. Interesting menu. Fabulous mix of flavors. Perfect
Portion size. Never been disappointed. Set food in asheville!
We come here everytime we visit Asheville. Never disappoints! Hush puppies all day!!
Great food, very nice server but very crowded therefore slow delivery of food. Overpriced drinks and desserts.
Great food and great service. The Duck Parfait in particular, was a standout
Wonderful dinner, especially the seafood appetizer platter—which is a meal!
However, we were dining with guest and conversation became difficult when the music started at 9:00.
Wet unique menu. The filet was amazing!
Excellent food, great service despite how busy they were and without a host. Love this spot. One of the very few truly great restaurants in Asheville. Really sets the bar. Highlight was the beef carpaccio with arugula and white Alba truffles. These guys know how to cook!
Been here before. Wanted to get the tower but was suggested happy hour for oysters. Had tower last time, was better. 1st order was wrong. Waitress was slow so we missed out on happy hour on our 3rd order of oysters as she was unavailable. Mostly food was great, not as good as before last year. Drove 100 miles just to eat here. $150 meal, and dessert/ bday was a jelly blob, and no silverware. sticky messy.
Amazing food, attentive service, and great ambiance. Highly recommend the roasted pumpkin appetizer. And the ribeye for two may be one of the best steaks we’ve ever eaten out. My new favorite when we visit Asheville.
Excellent food and crafted cocktails. Recommend the Stone Fence...calvados with muddled herbs make for a truly outstanding cocktail. Service was just a bit slow but overall I’d recommend this place highly.
Great food very unique
The first giveaway that this is a great place is that there were people waiting to get in when it opened at 5:00 p.m. The door opened and everyone was seated right away with no waiting. Our waiter Brandon was excellent with good suggestions and super friendly. My husband had the cheeseburger special which he pronounced, “the best burger I’ve ever eaten.” I had filet mingnon which was served with bone marrow and cooked just as I asked. Overall it is most excellent and I highly recommend.
The food was absolutely amazing. We sampled several things and none of them disappointed. Highly recommend the octopus if you like seafood. The filet and the roasted chicken were the best dishes by far. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Asheville.
Favorite foods have never been more favorited... Culinary Sorcery, Hotel California of dining. You've been warned.
Bull and beggar has a creative but a bit overpriced menu. We enjoyed the filet for a special occasion and it was delicious.
Daniel was an excellent server. My steak was delicious. Great evening. Not a huge menu.
Excellent dinner, drinks & service, but pretty pricey. And very nice once you're inside, but kinda dumpy neighborhood. But I would definitely go back again!
