What Insiders Are Saying
How much will you like the West Village's Sushi Nakazawa? How much money do you have, and how recently did you watch Jiro Dreams of Sushi?
Omakase was delightfully prepared. Wonderful sushi rice. Freshest fish. Enchanted caviar. Succulent uni two types to compare and contrast. Sake list impeccable selection. Nice host help with my Ordering of sake. I needed a bit of help there. Authentic. Excellent price point. Punctual seating. Amicable environment at the sushi counter. Female sushi chef. Best Tomago ever had, bar none! Arrigato from Buffalo, New York foodie.
By far, the best, most creative Sushi experience I have ever had. Every piece was delicious and explained in detail. Was an amazing experience.
I went to Sushi Nakazawa for lunch and it was well worth the price of admission. It truly is a gem and worth the Michelin Star it just received. Unassuming from outside but once entering you feel you are somewhere special. It was Omakase style and I opted for a couple of add-ons (cavier, Uni) so the bill added up. Really was such an awesome experience. I definitely will try and get back there for the dinner version which I am sure will be eventful. Great stuff by Nakazawa.
Superb food ...worth every penny!!
Greatest meal of my life
The best sushi I’ve ever tried and amazing service!
Don’t listen to any reviews that are negative for this place. That person in general probably couldn’t be pleased if they hit the lotto.....Visited this past Saturday for the first time, sat at the sushi bar. Unreal from top to bottom. Food, service, eveything on point. Staff extremely knowledgeable and informative. From the precision of the chefs after receiving precise calls from the expeditor to the front hostess who greeted us when we arrived and of course our server who was just fantastic this place is a must go for true sushi lovers who can think beyond the local gimmicky spicy tuna roll....
Best meal ever
Had the most lovely meal. The chef was incredible, personable and funny. It’s always a treat to watch them make the pieces and precisely season each piece. The fish was incredible-perfectly fresh and flavorful. One of our favorite omakases to date-including some amazing places in Tokyo. Very much so recommend. The staff was wonderful and the experience really was special. Can’t wait to come back!
The service is poor and the chef is too rush to make all the sushi. Make my friend and I feel pressure.
I went there for lunch, overall expereince is average, first of all, the food didn’t amaze me and the service was good but not impressive. I would go back to try out the dining experience to see if it makes a difference, if not, I would not recommend to any of my friends. There are certainly other places with much better value.
I was originally very upset with my husband for taking me to this restaurant for our wedding anniversary. This was our 31st. year! You would think that he would know -I do not like Sushi !
However, after the first two bites - Wow! I love the Sushi !!! The food was beautifully presented, the service
was outstanding, your chef was most engaging and enchanting.
What can I say more about the food - I love Sushi !! I love the Sushi Bar.
I do not believe I can go anyplace else for sushi. When we left I was all smiles. I guess my husband was right
this time :)

Amazing experience. Great services and ambiance. A virtual trip to Japanene sophisticated sushis. Chef and Maître are fantastic. Both make you feel that you are in Billions! Greatly recommended
Took a friend of mine to lunch for his birthday. The atmosphere and service were amazing, but the food was spectacular. In addition to the regular menu, guests were offered extras (at a cost) but they were well worth it. I would recommend this to anyone who is on the fence due to cost, and it is definitely an experience worth having.
The female chef being very solemn and strict...made us feel nervous and unwelcomed :(
A unique sushi experience, we really enjoyed eating at the bar and having front row seats to watching our sushi being prepared. The chefs are meticulous about preparation and the service was wonderful. You can pace yourself if you feel it’s too fast and just eat slowly. They will serve your next piece after you finish the one before and pace you with your entire group.
We had a wonderful time!
Really great experience and my favorite omakase experience so far!
Sushi here are not that awsome. Amane and Noz are definitely better choices.
Exceptional experience. Attention to detail was second to none.
Best sushi of my life. And I've been to Japan!!
The food and service was absolutely outstanding, it is a crime that this place does not have a Michelin star yet. The staff was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The restaurant was very clean and spotless. The restaurant was delightfully quiet and has a professional atmosphere. The decor was beautiful. The sushi was unique, delicious, and inspiring. The sake, wine and tea selection was very good. Sitting at the counter watching the Chefs was like getting entertainment with your meal. I’m failing to think of an area where they fell short. We will certainly return.
MUST - DO - THE - SAKE - PAIRING :)
Excellent time !
Perfect flow of nigiri. Staff unobtrusive but very efficient. Wine selection was perfect. While expensive this was completely worth it. Would love to do it again.
Ate there with my wife for our anniversary. Great food and flawless customer service
Definitely a special occasion event. This place took us on a journey of different salmon, tuna, caviar, sea urchin, eel, and more from all over the world. Come hungry as there were 13+ pieces. I recommend the sushi bar experience as it is much more intimate and enjoyable, the chef explains each and every piece and where it is from, as well as the waiter to give you a fully immersive experience. One of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to!
Great! It was awesome
Incredible Omakase. Service was impeccable. Sake pairing was a delight.
Amazing. Nothing more needs to be said
Overall the food and service were excellent. There was a bug that was loose in the sushi bar that kind of dampened the mood.
Best Sushi in NYC, been coming there since inception and always the best
Absolutely magnificent. Highest quality sushi in the city
Eating at Sushi Nakazawa was a great experience. The fish was super fresh, the staff and chefs were friendly , knowledgeable, and helped create a welcoming environment to enjoy the fantastic sushi.
Food and service was awesome. Best sushi I’ve had!
Probably the best sushi I have ever had!!!! I was impressed with everything. I did the sake pairing with that.
This was a foodie trip with my dad and buddies, I will go back again for sure. Price is pretty much what I expected but that is why you budget for trips like these(Not on the inexpensive nor overly expensive). We sat at the bar, it would have been great if Chef Daisuke Nakazawa was there but his team did an amazing job.
Worth it! The service was impeccable. Sitting at the sushi bar was an experience in itself. It was nice to watch the chefs at work and interacting with each other and the guests. It was our first omakase and most definitely not our last. The selection was super fresh and I have to say, Sushi Nakazawa definitely set the bar for the future omakase dinners we’ll be partaking in.
There is Sushi Nakazawa, and then everything else.
The kind of place that make you joyfully tear up one bite at a time. I mean it. It make you want to cry. You feel the love and passion behind everything served. Hate to sound pretentious, but since you are gonna spend some hard cash, I would only recommend this place to Sushi experienced and discerning foodies.
