About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
  • Great for creative cocktails
Abacá is an airy, atelier-style restaurant with a cool outdoor terrace, whipping up Filipino-Californian cuisine with flair in Fisherman's Wharf. It's the bricks-and-mortar spin off of chef Francis Ang's pop-up Pinoy Heritage. The lively menu is split up into barbecue sticks, noodles and rice, and small to big plates, but its far more nuanced than just that. Flavourful dishes pull from family recipes and are glazed with modern and heritage technique to result in a vibrancy that's hard to come by. It's grounded by local produce. Smoked Bay scallops lead in the seafood pancit, heirloom tomatoes top homemade tinapay bread, chicken skin is glazed in an adobe before hitting the grill and guinea fowl comes slathered with peanut sauce. A truncated list of creative Southeast Asian libations bring it full circle – if you're on the terrace, cool off with the Baguio breeze slushy – a dreamy mix of pandan-infused vodka, coconut and strawberry.

Not that good! Most of the food on the menu is someone's creation modifying Filipino food. Tried quite a few of the items on the menu but some were pretty bad. Service wasn't great either. Waitress was a little pushy. Atmosphere was very touristy on the first floor of a little hotel. Prices were pretty high for the amount and quality of food. If you're craving Filipino food, I recommend going to Daly City where you have a lot of good options.

Hopping the whole time with a hip multiethnic crowd all loving the delicious food. I recommend ordering a la carte in lieu of the tasting menu, which they push aggressively. Choose your own adventure and enjoy the creative and beautiful foods. Save room for dessert, which we never would’ve ordered if we had been doing a la carte, but it was wonderful and worth every calorie!

Everything about our dinner at Abaca was enjoyable. The food plating and the food itself were excellent. For what we had for dinner, pre-fixe which is like their tasting menu was good value for the money. The servers were also very attentive

delicious food and a really great experience. It was our first time here and I would suggest doing the "PAUBAYA" Family Style Dinner. This was the perfect experience to try most of the menu! Our favorites were: the asparagus, bone broth, sisig rice, adobo skewers, lumpia and blue tuna and watermelon! Sauces complimented and enhanced the complexities of the dishes. I will definitely come here for a special occasion or date night!
