LOVEEEEE this restaurant. I was raised in Haiti and I can definitely say that the food is DELICIOUS. I wish that the place were more spacious and that service was faster, but it's a good place to have a delicious dinner/date.

I think the area they picked for this Haitian restaurant is great great value place is very romantic it was my girlfriends first time eating Haitian food. kabrit fri ak vyann kochon se pou mouri.mennaj bingdi renmen pwason an. thank you guys really for the great experience I maybe come back just to eat locally.Last note everyone needs to try the black rice.

I can't share my dining experience at this time. When I went they were closed for the brunch menu time frame. I was advised that they open at 5pm and that brunch hasn't been served for some time now. I would like another opportunity to dine with them at dinner so I can rate them fairly

I’ve been to this restaurant twice and i can say i will not be returning. As a Haitian myself i was very unimpressed with the food that was cooked. Firstly, our meal took too long to prepare. I understand they use fresh ingredients and i appreciate that however, i waited about 45 minutes to an hour just to get my starter and then another hour or so for my actual meal. Secondly they did not have the materials needed for what i actually wanted to get, even if they use all fresh ingredients they should still have a supply of what is needed for items on their menu. Lastly when my party received their food the meat was bland and chewy, the fried plantains were hard and clearly not made from fresh plantains, the akra (fried malanga) was tasteless and not made from fresh malanga. These are all things i have cooked in my own household and know what they should taste like. I love supporting authentic Haitian owned businesses, especially restaurants but this was very disappointing.

Food was delicious! Service so-so from 1st waitress, wasn't helpful and she claimed there was no more kabrit eve though the other people at the table next to us received a Platter of it! However 2nd waitress was a breath of fresh air, she was attentive, made great recommendations on the drinks, and assured my friend that there was a new batch of kabrit coming out! Overall great experience and didn't wait too long for our table.

The place is very clean and organized. Personally, I didn't like the fact that they ran out of what I wanted to eat and plus they refused to substitute for it. Other than that, I very enjoyed the food especially the steak and I will definitely come back.

Went there to celebrate an anniversary and noted it on my reservation. The restaurant didn't acknowledge the special day which was disappointing. They were understaffed so when we walked in we weren't greeted and had to find someone to help. Saving grace of the night: wonderful live music, a really lovely waitress and a bartender who went above and beyond. I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past and I was disappointed by the lack of management and acknowledgement of a special night.

The chicken with sauce, and the braised (I might have the prep wrong) goat were both so delicious. For dessert, there’s a bread pudding made from sweet potatoes. Dense and phenomenally spiced - ginger, all spice, cinnamon, nutmeg...something a person would dream of for a Christmas treat. Super friendly staff. Cute spot. Unpretentious. I hope they don’t get bull-dozed like the rest of that neighbourhood.

We were excited to celebrate our Haitian- born parents' 50th Wedding anniversary by dining at La Caye for the first time. We made a reservation for 230pm on a Saturday afternoon and arrived early to find out that the restaurant was closed! There isn't even a sign displaying the hours of operation- we figured the place was not open because the doors were locked, the awning was folding up, and the chairs and stools were up on the tables. Annoying, as we stopped into the restaurant weeks earlier and obtained a business card that says the restaurant opens at 12 noon on Saturdays, plus made an open table reservation. How disappointing was to need to make other arrangements on the fly! Please, update your hours on the marketing materials you hand out and on OpenTable! I wish I had read the other reviews that warned about this issue before making my efforts to come out today!

After allowing me to put in my reservation on open table for 1pm on Saturday, they were not even open. After knocking for some time someone came out to say that they don't open until 4pm. This tells me that they are disorganized especially since I was not the only one waiting outside.

Been here plenty of times but first time since menu changed, the Friday platter changed. It had less food then the past 4 pieces of fried plantains 4 akra 4 pieces of goat that isn't a shareable for two people. Wasn't satisfying as used to be it took a way from the expectations that I usually had when I had many dinners there before.

Underwhelming. The food was average at best - the pork chops listed on the menu turned out to be just one and that was dry and overcooked. The hash browns which accompanied the "chops" were not hash browns but chopped boiled potatoes cooked in their skins and served lukewarm. Service was good and friendly but I would definitely not recommend for the food.

We arrived 10 minutes early to our reservation, having allowed a full hour and 15 minutes for dinner. We were seated immediately and waited about 10-15 minutes to order. Restaurant was busy. We ordered 1 appetizer (grilled conch) and salad and 2 main courses. We then waited 45 minutes by which time the appetizer and salad still hadn't arrived. We talked to a waitress who chastised us for not letting her know that we had to make a theater curtain (something we often do--but not when I have almost 90 minutes to eat with no wine ordered). A second waitress brought our salad and appetizer a little while later and cancelled the main courses for us. The conch was delicious. The experience was not! Something was wrong in the kitchen (we were sitting near by and it seemed they might have given our order to a customer who arrived later). It would have been better if they had told us what the problem was and apologized. They could also have comped us the 2 seltzers we ordered with lime but that came with lemon....

We dined here before a show at Theater for a New Audience. It is also steps away from BAM Rose Cinemas. The food was very good--my chicken was excellent. The salad was big enough for 3 of us to have decent-sized starters. We will definitely come back here when we're in the area.

We wanted my Mum/Mom to experience your delightful cuisine for Mother's Day, and you didn't disappoint! She especially loves the Black Mushriom Rice, so was quite happy to have it with her vegetable entrée choice. I've been fasting for Lent, eating no meat for 40 days and all i wanted on my return to eating meat was TASSOT and it was extremely dry to the point i asked the waitress to bring me any sauce to accommodate the extremely dry fried goat.

I would recommend, but with some reservations. Our friend took her Haitian friend here, and the friend was overjoyed. Our server told us that "Caye" means "home," and I'm sure that the Haitians in our community will be thrilled to find this place. Our meals were tasty, but I am a spice wimp, and about half the dishes were 'way hotter than I could handle. Our server, however, was very good at letting us know which dishes would be acceptable to my wussy palate. Portions are substantial. Service is outstanding. Tables are a bit close together, and the noise level is challenging for a quiet conversation. Their specialty drinks, which I didn't try, got high praise from another member of our party.

Food takes a while since they cool everything as order but the wait was worth it; the food was great. In the center of Fort Greene and across from BAM theatre good pricing for the food. Great selection of Haitian cuisine. A small intimate restaurant with outdoor seating when the weather is good. It was the perfect spot for my date.
