My family dined at AmberJax to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Our waitress, Michelle, was AWESOME and provided excellent customer service. She made menu recommendations, was on point with our needs - never had to ask for a refill or any other extras. She wished my mom a happy birthday and it was done very classy. My mother isn’t one for tons of attention so all the servers NOT clapping and singing loud like at other restaurants was perfect. She enjoyed a nice birthday dinner with great tasting food and excellent customer service surrounded by family. I would definitely bring my family here again for everyday dining or to celebrate another special occasion. Thanks to AmberJax especially Michelle for a great evening out!
Went for lobster tail for my wife's birthday as we were told it was available each night. Unfortunately we were told wrong. Inconvenienced by restaurant's wifi causing issues with settling a check after the meal.
The trout was amazing along with the rice and beans. I ordered the collard greens but they were too salty. I enjoyed the ambiance. We were celebrating a birthday with 28 people and the servers did their best to speed up he orders but they could have been a little more attentive. I finished the night with key lime pie and irish coffee a perfect combination.
Staff did not understand the specials or just did not explain them well. Overall I was disappointed with this visit. However, will give them another chance as it was much better in the past.
Really like how the menu’s been expanded with some lower-prices options
Parking was horrible. Some huge event going on Saturday night
Fun and very friendly. Great atmosphere with a Cajun leaning menu.
Great food but very pricey.... $17 for a poboy and one side.
The menu isnt that vast, long or complicated - but each thing sounded so great that it was really hard to pick just one thing. The entrees all sound amazing - and the add ons and extra sauces sounded so worth it too. We finally made decisions and everything we chose was outstanding! I couldn’t stop eating. Atmosphere was fun, staff was happy. Great experience.
Great food and great place!
Good food, big portions. Only reason I gave a 4 for service is when we first arrived it was slow. Because there weren't any other customers, the waiter was overly attentive. It seems an odd thing to complain about, but he practically read us the menu and came over every 5 mins. It was a little annoying, but he stopped when more tables filled.
I truly e joyed my visit! The food was good and service was great.
Our waitress was not very attentive. She did t even ask if we wanted a drink. She left and when she came back I said...can we place a drink order? My friend got blackened Mahi Mahi and did not like her meal at all.
Good food, good service, good time!
We sat outside...it was nice and the food was good too. We weren’t told about the all day happy hour but we still had fun.
I used to come regularly to Amberjax; however, the last time I came for dinner with friends, I had decided it would be my last as service was not up to previous standards, food listed on menu was unavailable, & the food we were able to order was mediocre. I decided to bring relatives from out of town on 9/5, with trepidation, hoping things would be better. Every part of our evening was exceptional!! Service, food, ambience. I will definitely be back again!!
We come here as often as we can, food is ALWAYS fantastic and authentic to New Orleans. One of the best seafood places in north Texas! If you’re a fellow lobster lover, try the lobster linguini. And the crab cakes are simply divine.
It's a very noisy place. Go there if you don't want conversation! My friend had to send her friend catfish back because it was undercooked. Although she didn't complain the 2nd go round, I notice that she did eat much of it. My seafood salad was good but expensive at $30.
I love this place! I've been a few times and each time I am pleased
Food was great and so was the service. It’s one of my go to places for lunch with work associates.
I’ve been here four times and each time the food is fantastic. This last time was for lunch and had a delightful server. I can’t remember her name or otherwise I would let y’all know to ask for her. This is my place is my “go to” when we have out of town family come and visit.
We had a great time there! This was for my birthday so I was expecting alot. I will say that it was not as upscale looking as I thought it would look like, but the food was amazing!! A little on the high side but it was delicious so we didn't mind.
The only thing I would have like is more options for dessert, I don't like key lime pie or bread pudding, and the other options weren't exciting. Had a wonderful time! Would go back
The steamer bowl I had was wonderful and my father enjoyed his crab cakes but the blackened redfish my wife had was as thin as trout (nothing like the ones in the market case up front) and was over cooked. She thought about pointing this out but she had a similar experience last time and rather than making it right, they had given her a card good for a free dessert. We happened to use that tonight for a slice of key lime pie (which was delicious) but the point is she wanted a well-prepared entree, not another dessert.
Crab cake “flight” was fun and tasty. Halibut was very good but could have done with maybe a minute less on the grill—the first time here that any fish was even a little overdone. Companion’s tuna on salad Nicoise was perfectly rare as he’d asked. Not a fan of waiter spooning ice into glasses—but maybe that’s just me, and he did recommend an excellent wine.
Servers were wonderful and very attentive. They made sure to find out the gluten status for all requested food with care.
The food was really good.
Food was fresh and well prepared. Service was impeccable.
Great seafood offerings - always fresh, creative and expertly prepared. Has become the go-to for friend celebrations. Trinity Groves is a perfect location to meet friends and family.
The food was every good to excellent and good sized portions. Amberjax’s is my favorite seafood restaurant in the DFW area. The only negatives is the ambient noise and parking.
Met with friends but noise level was so high we had to shout at each other to be heard. Way too loud.
Goode food and service.
Waiter spilled the mussels/clams appetizer on the table, down went water, wine, etc. onto a couple of us. “Oops,” was the response. Floor was slippery because not properly cleaned after the spill, chair slipped, fell, hit head. When we complained, said would call the cops. Not Horribly customer friendly. Take that one off the list for return!
Anniversary dinner with family. From start to finish 👍🤗
I wanted a great seafood restaurant. After researching..I chose Amberjax.
From walking in the door, the restaurant was beautiful. The aroma of fresh fish from the market ..our waiter was helpful and knowledgeable..our orders were prompt and fresh. We will be back.
The wait was decent being that it was a sat evening. But the service was just terrible. Our waitress did not acknowledge us even after passing us more then i can count. She was beside us around us acknowledge tables all around us but could not simply turn around and say i will be right with u. Took 20 min. Till she came to our table and then the experience from there just got worse
Love this place. Awesome food, friendly staff. Took a first timer here and he loved it.... ah! So good.
Got the clam chowder and it tasted nothing like clam chowder. Chose to order the Caesar and we ended up with a bowl of bitter leaves (the white and light green that most usually throw away lol). Our waiter knoey (so) was great though.
Fried shrimp was outstanding. It was butterflied and breaded just right.
Our service was outstanding. The rest of the meal was very “meh” poke appetizer was fine, but definitely was lacking something. We have had it before and really liked it. Today it fell a little flat.
My entree was filled with bones, I had 5-6 bones that I had to pull out of my mouth. While I expect to have the off bone missed when eating any fish, this felt very careless. Once I got around the bones the flavor of the fish was OK. Hush puppies and sweet potato mash were both outstanding.
All in all, wasn’t the best showing for a restaurant that we usually really love.
Luckily we went on a Tuesday because my husband is in a wheelchair and the tables are really close together. But there weren't a lot of folks there that night. The YaYa gumbo was excellent and I had the Opah fish which was also great. Everyone at the table had something different and we were all so glad we had leftovers to enjoy the next day.
The restaurant is small therefore the seating are close together. It’s very noisy and difficult to hear. It’s definitely not an atmosphere to try having a conversation.
