   Fantastic experience! We were 6 adults 2 babies and 1 toddler and even though this isn’t a place where there’s a kids menu and crayons available they were SO NICE, so accommodating & understanding. We felt very comfortable. And the food was amazing of course! Always has been one of our favorite restaurants in Dallas and still is!

   Brought my husband here for his birthday dinner. We enjoyed the intimate space and clean decor. The baked oysters were very flavorful and the sweetbreads (our first time eating) had a delicate flavor. I probably would have enjoyed them more if we ate the sweetbread before the oysters. They also gave us the fried olives on the house for his birthday treat... they were delicious! Since we had 3 apps, we shared the rabbit on parpadelle. It was a nicely balanced dish with good acidity. Splitting it allowed us to get 2 desserts: persimmon cake and tangerine tart. The persimmon cake was rich, not too sweet, and good. However, the tangerine tart was amazing! Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely go back to try other dishes.

   My mom took me to Gemma for my birthday. Upon arrival there was a card for my birthday. They’d been informed I was gluten free and had a delicious birthday treat ready for me at the end, made special for my dietary restrictions. Impeccable service, very accommodating and food is top notch. Will be back again and again.

   We went to Gemma to celebrate our anniversary and it was a great experience. Love the vibe and the food. Everything the waiter recommended was on point! I would love to go back again soon.

   We had two types of fish and both were excellent. The raw oysters, although expensive, were also excellent. Gemma is a go to restaurant and it always lives up to our high expectations. We recommend Gemma highly.

    Gemma never disappoints. It is the epitome of neighborhood gem. The rabbit sausage appetizer is amazing, the desserts were outstanding (bring back the fig dessert) and the service is always top notch, not pretentious or overbearing. There is a reason that this restaurant is still packed after years of being in business. Well earned success.

    Great neighborhood restaurant that is worth driving across town. Interesting menu with great flavor profiles. Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly. Truly enjoyed this experience.

    We have eaten here in the past and have loves it. This experience was different. There was a 3 course menu for Valentine’s Day. Every single item on the menu was so salty. The main entree I ordered was filet mignon and it was over done and dry. My husband had the trout and it was so fishy and dry. Dessert was ok nothing to rave about.

    We were there for Valentine’s Day and there was a prix fix. But it did t disappoint! The pork shank literally fell off the bone - and the seasoning....amazing. The chocolate cake was out of this world. Can’t wait to go back and try the full menu!

    One of us ordered the cauliflower fritters which turned out to be a bowl of burned balls of mush in which no cauliflower was detectable. They were shockingly bad. We mentioned our dissatisfaction to the server, who barely responded. We noticed another table being served the fritters and they were equally burned, so this must be the norm. The braised beef dish was also cooked in an overly intense manner, with only 2 very small dabs of mashed potatoes to relieve the intensity. Gemma has always been one of our go-to places over the years; but we were taken aback by the quality of theses two menu items. The olives and pecans and the biscuits were delightful as always.

    We enjoyed our dinner at Gemma on Sunday. We had started with the King Trumpets, which were delicious. Followed that up with the rabbit pappardelle, which was my favorite. Then we split the pork chop, which was also solid, a little salty for me, but still good. We followed that all up with the persimmon cake which I really enjoyed. Overall, I think we will add this to our date night rotation.

    Our server, Rene, was phenomenal. We love the wine list and appetizers - highly recommend the fried olives. The red snapper was a miss, in our opinion. I was disappointed there wasn't a seafood pasta on the menu - I had squid ink pasta at over a year ago at Gemma and still remember how delicious it was. The rabbit pappardelle, on the other hand, was absolutely amazing.

    This was our second and last try for Gemma. I was very disappointed with my meal. The red snapper was improperly cooked. A third of the filet was charged to cardboard. To get this level of char, the rest of the filet was very over cooked. We were long time residents of New Orleans and have eaten red fish in many restaurants, from high end to casual. My dinner would not have been tolerated in a city that knows how to cook fish.. Our server appeared at the end of the main course and asked if we enjoyed our dinner. I responded “no really”. There was no comment.

    One of the most awkward experiences I have ever received or been a part of. We came in to celebrate my birthday, walked in and the maitre-d just stood there. No greeting. No hello. He had this face like we were supposed to be the ones to initiate the conversation. We came to an early dinner so it wasn’t busy really, but for some reason the maitre-d only gave us one menu to use and it took him five plus minutes for us to get another. Our waiter was kind of the same, would awkwardly walk up to us and wait for us to initiate conversation. At one point, I honestly looked at my girlfriend and asked her if she wanted to go to another restaurant because the experience was so uncomfortable and felt uninviting. We told him we preferred to order separately as opposed to his suggestion of ordering everything all together so we could just do our own thing. But every time he came back to the table he kept pressuring us to order so we finally did so he would leave us alone. The food was amazing as always though. Unfortunately we were sat at one of the smaller tables so our server took our oysters away before we had finished them because our appetizers had come out. Only one left but still, those are little details that should be looked after. The only real good service we received was from an older gentleman (who had readers) who actually greeted us and told us about our appetizer (olives). Our meal was delicious, like I said the food was great but I’ve never received more awkward service in my life and I’ve been in the customer/service industry for almost twenty years. Won’t keep us from coming back because the food is so good but it’ll make me think twice about getting a table instead of sitting at the bar.

    Great food, great taste, wonderful service. Had the rabbit pasta dish and this amazing bone in pork chop. Both tasty beyond belief. Service was amazing, love going to a place where the water glass never gets empty. Desert was explosive with flavor but to heavy for us after such a filling meal. Totally will be back

    We made reservations for a Friday evening, and the place was packed! That's a testament to the food at Gemma. We loved the flavor profiles we tasted. We ordered the fried olives and rabbit sausage for appetizers, and both were fantastic. The sausage - paired with black eyed peas and kale was even better than we expected. Our entrees were both excellent. I ordered the wild boar bolognese and my boyfriend ordered the steak. Both had excellent flavor! Their wine menu is extensive and I had a hard time selecting something that would pair well with what we were eating, so we asked for some assistance from their director of wine. He was incredibly helpful and suggested at Beaujolais that we really loved. We really enjoyed the experience and hope to come back soon.

    Family birthday celebration. Been there before and loved it, but this was a very different experience. Waitress was okay enough, but host called on to help with wine selections had limited knowledge about the choices, then slow to bring the bottle even when everyone was out of wine and we were well into the dinner. Food was okay, but not great. A touch too cool and not a great presentation. Still a good restaurant, but not inexpensive and didn’t leave this time feeling the way we did about it last time.

    This Gemma experience was in sharp contrast to the previous one. We waited an extraordinarily long time for our appetizer. My entree was a pork chop that was very thick but not very tender. Others at my table had seafood, but nothing suggested that the food was worth the wait or the price. The appetizer, once it arrived, was tasty; and the butter lettuce salad was quite nice.

    My best friend and I went for a little girls night out dinner while she was in Dallas! It was cute, clean and fresh! I had the parpadelle and she had the cavatelli .. we both enjoyed our dish and I will certainly be returning!
