Located in the West Village, Bar Bolonat offers an exuberant celebration of modern Mediterranean and new Israeli cuisines. Creative, delicious food - quite a different cuisine. Liked that all the plates are shared so that you could sample more items. Cauliflower, eggplant and lamb kebabs were the highlights. Warm service - a little loud. Will definitely go back!

A lovely representation of a fine cuisine, with all its variety and uniqueness fully displayed. The appetizers were especially good, with particularly fond memories of the eggplant and the gnocchi.

Get out of the rut and go to Bar Bolonat. High standard of food quality... made to order. Jerusalem bagel, everyday cauliflower and wild mushrooms with pasta are show stoppers. Nice environment

The food was underwhelming .I admit my infrequency that I eat Israeli food may not give me the right to judge but when I compare to Shaya in New Orleans there is no comparison .

Bar Bolonat offers a variety of interesting dishes from Israel and the Eastern Mediterranean. Fried olives are an interesting and unique appetizer. Food would be familiar to someone familiar with Mediterranean cooking, but several dishes were very interesting and new to me. Preparation is excellent.

Bar Bolonat offers a wonderful dining experience from the moment you are greeted by the host until the moment you must regrettably leave. The menu is exciting and varied and diverse, and the food delicious. And different---- like nothing I could make in my kitchen. Check out the menu on the website for further explanation! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a martini, and glasses of delicious white sangria and Somek White chardonnay. There were so many other enticing options. Next time. The service was perfect. I mean perfect ----regarding timing and pace, attentiveness, assistance and advice, replacing plates and silverware in between courses and just plain congeniality. It was Saturday night, there was a party of about 20 at one long table, and so the noise level was somewhat high. But not to the point where you couldn't easily hold a conversation. With all the fine restaurants in NYC, I cannot wait to return to Bar Bolonat.

Really loved the Japanese eggplant and cauliflower plates. The shishito peppers and fatoush salad were just ok. The chicken and short rib were also very good! Great service. Good place to catch up with friends.

We had dinner on Sunday using a gift card from our kids that ate there and love it! We enjoyed the excellent cocktails and the tasty food very creative. Everything was that we orderd was very good. Will be back!

A "foodie" friend told me about this restaurant & so I decided to check it out. The reviews on open table were much better than those on yelp. I thought the food was amazing! I'm so glad that I went. I am a WASP from the Midwest, so it's not like I knew what I was ordering. The food was all good & flavorful. The tables are pretty close together & it does get loudish, but I will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends & will return to eat there.

Have eaten at Bar Bolonat a few times. Enjoyed each visit. Wait staff is always helpful and friendly. Good wine list with some uncommon selections. The creative food makes you feel like you're in Tel Aviv.

Rather pedestrian atmosphere on Hudson street that can get pretty loud as the place fills up. Food is OUTSTANDING! and inventive. Best as shared plates ( ours includes Fluke ceviche, Fatush salad, shrimp in curry, merguez kebabs). Wine list is varied, very affordable, interesting with more than a few unusual bottles. Service is good. Pace of plate delivery is uneven....sometimes 2 at once with little room on the table, other times a bit of a wait. Value in the city.

What a disappointment! I had been to Bar Bolonat about 2 years ago and loved everything I ate. This time, nothing tasted nearly as good as then. We started with the (overpriced) Jerusalem bagel - $7 - and not nearly as good as Hudson Bagel down the street. Then we shared the Yemenite shrimp, the chick pea gnocchi, the branzino, and the Japanese eggplant. The "large" plate of the branzino consisted of a very thin filet on a bed of greens. The fish must have been 4 oz MAX. The gnocchi hardly had any taste and was undercooked and dry. The eggplant, while tasty, defined what a small plate is - tiny portion. I remember how tasty the Yemenite shrimp was the first time we were there and we were totally underwhelmed - hardly any recognizable seasoning. The first time we were there, the place was packed. This time, it was half empty - I guess other people have stopped going because the quality has gone down considerably.

Always enjoy dining here. Food is consistently excellent--bursting with flavor and nicely presented. The service could not have been better; attentive, cheerful, unobtrusive wait-staff. The friends we came with have high standards (and a usually critical attitude), and they shared our enthusiasm for the cuisine.

So I was truly excited by the menu but the execution was somewhat so so, especially compared to the prices. The lack of bread with the meal is kind of cheap, and having to buy a giant bagel because it is the only bread on the menu just isn't the same thing. I tried it, but probably won't come back

I took my gf here for dinner for date night and we loved it! Excellent all around and wouldn't change anything other than making it closer to where I live so I can come more often. Thank you to the entire team for an amazing meal! I will be coming back soon.

Bar BOlonat has never disappointed me -food is creative, unusual, and satisfying in a comfort-food kind of a way all at the same time. Everything is done as share plates - none are huge but there is a lot of flavor, and there was, as usual, not one ringer out of all we ordered. Love this place

Great food, the spacing of the courses gave us enough time to enjoy what was in front of us, but not having to wait very long at all for the next dishes to be served. Nice wine selection as well.
