   We had such a great experience at Roots Southern Table. From the moment we walked in, the theme, music, and overall vibe felt warm, welcoming, and intentionally curated. It was an elevated yet grounded Southern cuisine experience. We ordered the Southern greens with hot water cornbread, fried squash blossoms, cast iron cornbread, and fried green tomatoes with a shrimp roumalade. Every bite was flavorful. The greens were cooked just right, the fried tomatoes had the perfect crisp, and the cornbread—both versions—was unforgettable. For entrées, we had the duck fat fried chicken with fried yams in garlic butter and the 44 Farms NY Strip. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. The yams were a great complement with its savory buttery garlic kick. The steak was cooked exactly how we asked and full of flavor from the first to the last bite. Our whole dinner party truly enjoyed everything and we were still talking about it on the way out. Terry and Tom created a great menu full of good food, a good atmosphere, and an intentional restaurant well worth visiting.

   Food was great service was great. Atmosphere was very warm and welcoming for our group of executives.

   My experience was wonderful. Our server was great. Explain the menu and meal preferences to us. The ambience was excellent. The food was excellent. The service was superb. We will visit route south table again.

   I wanted to try Roots based on a recommendation. My family and I went for Mother’s Day, we made our reservations a while ago and was excited to try it out. For our starters we had the cornbread and gumbo. The cornbread was good and hot it came with butter and strawberry preserves. The gumbo disappointed me because it was just warm not hot. The taste was okay the crab claw really could be left out because it was only a small amount and a pain to get the meat out. For our main dish we had Fried Chicken, Fried Sweet Potatoes and Hoppin John. The whole table said the chicken was too salty the the good thing the batter was light and it wasn’t greasy it had no taste to me it was missing something. The sweet potatoes were good and the other side no one cared for. We got the Orange Juice Cake and it was big enough for the whole table of 4. First thing it was too much juice on the bottom which soaked up the cake and made it soggy. The whip cream on top should be ice cream instead. My daughter got hers to go and that was a mistake because they poured the juice in the container with the cake instead of putting it on the side. When she got home the cake soaked all the juice and was inedible what a waste. Overall we tried it but really wasn’t impressed.

   Great experience however banana pudding was overrated. Will be going back soon with entire family.

   Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful. She was also attentive without being overly attentive. It was a little too loud for my liking. But the food was delicious. We had the cornbread, which was a sweet cornbread. Although Tim not a fan of sugar in my cornbread, it was done well and was moist without being too cake-like. The smoked butter that came with it was off the rails good. We also had the spring pea salad, jerk lamb, and duck fried chicken. All were good. Nothing special honestly about the chicken. But the lamb was fantastic, and I’m not a fan of lamb. I do plan to return. Overall a nice experience and good food.

   It was my husband’s birthday and since it was very close to mother’s day, we opted the day before for celebration. He has southern roots so expectations were high. To our surprise, it was not that crowed as we expected. I want to be clear that the service was excellent. However, the cornbread was not to the expectations. He said his grandma’s were better. Duckfat fried chicken was mediocre with high cajun seasoning taste. Biscuits were just okay. My salad was good and Halibut was good. But I tried with lemon dressing and it was too sweet… The dessert choice was very limited and the birthday boy did not have his favorite chocolate dessert. I wanted to clear the palate from heavy greasy food so i tried homemade sorbet. it was way too sweet and gummy. the whiskey selection was very limited per birthday boy. i paid cash, and credit card surcharge thing was kind of turn off. it was not my choice but the one who chose for celebration says he will not go back.
