I definitely recommend Cannella's. There were four of us in our party and we arrived early. The hostess seated us and our server was very attentive and helpful. The bar and wine selection is excellent. My daughter had an Italian soda that she loved. The meal portions are hearty, so feel free to split a meal (especially if you order appetizers). The restaurant is larger than it appears from the outside and they are able to accommodate large parties; we happened to be there on prom night and there were lots of high school students there. I was impressed by how quickly the staff moved these huge parties in and out. Know that you don't have to rush your time at the restaurant; they are happy to have you take your time and enjoy the evening.

Lovely atmosphere! Great service and food! I really like the chicken carbonara, however it was not the robust flavors you expect. And the cannoli's were wonderful!

NO LONGER TAKES RESERVATIONS THROUGH OPEN TABLE. We had a reservation booked through open table and they didn’t have it in their system. When I mentioned we booked through open table, they said they had switched over to Yelp a few days prior. Food was ok, service and ambiance were really good. Cocktail menu was interesting and unique.

Have not been there for a while but the food is wonderful. I think it is best Italian food in the city. We drive in from West Valley City just to eat there. If we lived in the city we would go there more often.

I have eaten here in the past and have always had a great experience with the food. This last time wasn't so great. The service and atmosphere were great as usual but the quality of the food has really deteriorated. I had the chicken carbonara., one of my favorite dishes. But the chicken was horrible. It tasted old like it had been made several days before or it had come frozen in a boiling bag. It actually made me sick for the rest of the evening. I hope this was a limited situation because we love eating here.

Food was great (though they ran out of tiramisu at like 7:30, which is way too early). The space itself is overly noisy. I was sitting right next to my friend and we had to raise our voices at points to hear each other.

I have never had a bad meal here. They've revised the menu, so it's not as big as it once was, but they've kept the classics. The chicken parm, the lasagna, etc. Their cocktails are also delicious and inexpensive (by downtown restaurant standards). Worth it!

Cannella's is celebrating 40 years in business and it's not hard to see why. I'm from the East Coast, where Italian restaurants don't try to get upscale and fancy, they just deliver outstanding cuisine. Cannella's fits that mode, with all the appetizers, salads and entrees done extremely well and served promptly and with a smile. The servers are awesome, and having a laid backlounge/bar area to have dinner in is a real treat here in Salt Lake. To cap it all, great original cocktails and a wine list that covers all the bases. Like the food, the drinks and wine are all very reasonable. If you haven't tried this gem, you are missing a great dining experience.

As always the food was excellent. Unfortunately, our server didn't seem real interested in our being there. Wanted to take our order as we were sitting down without asking about drinks or appetizers, both of which we wanted. Didn't even bring water to our table and when our drinks were empty didn't bother to ask if we wanted refills. This has not been the service we are used to receiving at Cannella's, so we will definitely be back.

Great food and drinks. Service was good, but had to ask wait staff more often for things forgotten like bread, salad and to correct the wrong cocktail served. Overall, it’s a nice place to dine, but be prepared for a bill over $100 for 3 people getting one cocktail, one entree and one dessert each.

Been to this restaurant dozens of times and it’s always fantastic. Sometimes it’s a little noisier than other times obviously depends on the time and day of the week food is always excellent great wine selection and drink selection. This particular time my steak was not as good as it normally iS, I was a little disappointed my date however was very pleased with everything so that being said still a good experience

Menu options as advertised on open table were not available. Menu is much smaller than presented. Our food was cold when delivered but our waitress was great about having meal reheated to a level that was edible. Food was okay for the price. Nothing special. Went for husbands 50th birthday celebration and noted it on reservation request. It was not acknowledged and would probably look for a different experience for future special occasions.

Checked the reviews for Italian restaurants close to our hotel downtown Salt Lake City. We prefer neighborhood and local establishments. This one looked the most authentic, cozy and within reason for a dinner out after a long day of driving. Loved the food, wine ambiance and relaxed setting. Our server was very interesting and engaging. I'm Italian American and am fussy about dining out for Italian food. Great spaghetti and meatballs (new sauce recipe we were told), wine and dessert! Loved it.

Staff was very nice and good and drinks were very prompt. Parking is limited which can be frustrating. The loss of starts really comes from the food. Portions were small. We had the chicken Marsala and Alfredo pasta. Chicken was not bad but very small portioned. Alfredo pasta was very bland. It had more cream than cheese. I was really unimpressed with the food.

Burnt food. There were 2 of us dining - both plates were burnt. We had a reservation at 5 and upon arriving the doors were locked. People came after us when the door was unlocked and stood waiting to be seated although the place was empty. One waiter came to take my plate half way through my meal even though he asked if I was still working on it. Maybe trying to hard to be urban and neglecting good service. All eyes were upon their selves. A toddler must of said hi to the server fives times only to be ignored. Last time we will visit there. At a ticket of 60 dollars plus tip - the food was unapt.
