    My wife and I chose Dorothy’s on St. Simons Island on June 21, 2025 to celebrate our anniversary. We had never been but had heard good things about it and it had good reviews online for the most part. The “TL;DR” is really good food, great waitstaff, inadequate portions, poor atmosphere, and woeful restaurant management. I will begin with a disclaimer that we are not super-demanding patrons but we have been blessed to enjoy some of the finest Michelin Star restaurants in the world. St. Simons is a small market but the clientele here is fairly sophisticated. I really wanted Dorothy’s to be excellent. Our server, Chelsea, was wonderful; attentive, helpful, engaging, charming, and a good listener. The restaurant really needs to address the way it manages reservations, music and room temperature levels, and availability of menu items. We had to put a credit card in to secure our reservation but when we arrived for our 7:15 reservation, the table wasn’t available for 10-15 minutes. We were seated underneath a loudspeaker and a massive HVAC vent. We couldn’t hear one another (from 3 feet away) and it was far too cold. We were able to get the dance beat volume turned down some but the air was never regulated. I also noticed several tables of patrons were asked to move in order to make room for incoming reservations. The maître d even asked us to “wrap up” in exchange for free dessert to make room for another large party. We had been waiting for our check for 15+ minutes because my wife was freezing! I had read another review of this happening but I thought it was highly unusual. This is a really tacky move for a restaurant of this purported caliber. The cocktail menu is very extensive and the specialty drinks were fabulous. There were 3 or 4 items on the menu that weren’t available including signature tuna tartare, steak kushiyaki, salmon roe, … and it was only 7:30. We ordered salmon crudo, pork kushiyaki, Szechuan noodles, shrimp ceviche, and fire roasted fish.

    I signed up via internet stating 30th wedding anniversary. No acknowledgment. I was placed in a small corner 2 top, while several other tables were open upon my arrival. My waitress seemed extremely rushed to get my order in and then failed to deliver my wife’s drink after two requests. The manager fortunately came by and retrieved the drink. Dinner was average and not warm. I have been to this establishment several times which have been fine but more than over priced. Good luck.

    Really enjoyed our first trip to Dorothy’s. Asian and sometimes spicy flair to many dishes; all were just delicious. Outstanding service. Great cocktail program - I feel the need to work my way through the cocktail list! Expensive wine list and pricy cocktails after happy hour. Overall a fantastic experience and we will be back.

    Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Service was terrible! We had a Pretentious waiter who barely made an effort to explain specials and made little attempt to stop and see how we were doing over the 2.5 hour time we were there! The tables are so close together it was like we were actually having dinner with the strangers next to us. First and last time for us at this establishment.
